  • "My mother was drugged unwillingly in an alley by two sick men. She died from overdose and the two assholes got away, two weeks before my seventh birthday.. I was one of the lucky few who got to see the crime scene. I was put into the custody of my aunt since my father bailed before I was ever even born." Jean's fingers rested against the warm scarf around her neck, her eyes glazing over. "Don't mistake it for pity, it never was." She turned away. "I hope you do make a friend.."

  • Rai narrowed his eyes, his walk slowing to a stop. He stared at the ground. If it wasn't pity, then what was it? An obligation? A spiritual feeling? Just pure boredom? At her next statement, he scoffed. "Don't hope too hard. Nobody wants to be friends with a freak," he said quietly, continuing on his way.

  • "Maybe the freak doesn't try hard enough." Jean said quietly. She had to turn around, her apartment was into the other direction. An inward sigh can as she did a slow pivot on her heel, going back in the direction Rai was heading.

  • Rai stayed silent, plucking a cigarette from his pocket. He put it between his lips and cupped the air around it, lighting the stick and inhaling slowly. He blew out a breath, staring at the ground. "Maybe the freak is tired of trying," he returned quietly, suddenly very exhausted. When was the last time he slept? A while ago. Three days at least. He looked over at the apartment's door, eyeing the scratchmarks from his nails from a week ago. He frowned and continued walking passed the apartment, all sense of happiness for the day he had earlier and the thought of finally making a friend leaving his body as the smoke from the cigarette did as well.

  • "I hope I see you again soon." Jean said as she open the door to the old building. She watched him for a very long moment before stepping inside and closing the door behind herself, walking up the creaky steps. To her small apartment. Why was she constantly being reminded of her mother now?

  • Rai scoffed. Something told him that she didn't want to see him again. The raven haired male looked at the ground, his walk slowing down to stop. He stood near the door, lookin back at it for the longest time before he looked at the ground. He slowly inhaled on the cigarette again, closing his eyes as he exhaled through his nose. He wanted to see her again. He wanted to knock on her door and tell her he was sorry for yelling and being a complete ass. But he didn't. Instead, he just slipped into the alley next to her apartment, extinguished his cigarette in a puddle, drew his legs up, and put his head on his knees.

  • Jean tossed down her bag on the couch. She wasn't mad at Rai, but disappointed. She went into her room and turned on the stereo to just barely loud enough for backround music, that's the way she had always liked it. Just loud enough, so she could sing louder. This song happened to be slow paced and involved more low pitches. The lyrics sang of a war, a war that hinted towards not being real at all in fact, just an emotional turmoil. Great.

  • Rai opened his eyes, blinking and listening. Jeez, could she sing any louder? The thought made the man smile a bit, but it soon disappeared as he listened to the lyrics. Something about a war. Her voice wasn't overwhelmed with emotions, but they were there. He could tell something was going on. Great. And he just had to go and yell at her about his problems and be completely oblivious to her's. Wow. He really is an asshole. How she would ever want to see him again, he didn't know. He couldn't even fathom a guess. He sighed silently and continued to listen, putting his head back on his knees.

  • The song ended. Why was that disk in there again? She stood to switch it out, clicking the eject button and removing the disk. She flipped through the albums and pulled out a random one, somewhat unused. She pushed in the CD, listening to the song for a moment before slowly picking up on the tune and lyrics. Not as depressing. More upbeat but still laid back. It kept repeating drummer boy and something about a parade.

  • god he was such a stalker. Rai found himself staring up at her window, using the shadows in her room to make a few cameras. He put them in hidden places, making sure she couldn't see them but he could still see her. The cameras caught everything she was doing and played it back to him as he stared at her window. Part of him hoped she would simply be listening to music, but a smaller part hoped she would start doing something else. Such a stalker indeed.

  • Jean hugged at a pillow, plopping back against the bed. "I should have asked him in.." She muttered. She let out a prolonged sigh before standing and picking up a pair of pajamas and going into her bathroom to change. She came out with shorts covered in little dog faces and a tanktop with one big dog sitting on the back. She was still singing but not quite as loud as earlier.

  • Rai frowned. How could she want him in her house after the deal with the tape? It made no sense to him. Girls were weird. He blinked a few times, but continued watching her silently, the cameras unmoving and unnoticeable. Seriously. He threatened to kill her, yet she still says she should have invited him inside? It made no sense whatsoever. Unless, of course, she was talking about someone else. In which case it made perfect sense. Ray sighed silently, lowering his gaze before looking back up.

  • She sat down at the computer, opening up a few tabs and beginning to type. She turned on an old John Wayne film, mostly just listening to the conversations rather than watching as she skimmed through articles. "I should do some homework.." She mumbled, her fingers pausing as she clumped her chin against the desk, trying to remember the assignments.

  • Okay. He drew the line at homework. He didn't want to watch her type on her computer or were in a book. Even he couldn't stand that for too long. He never actually went to school, but that didn't matter right now. She seemed to not have the ability to remember what she was supposed to be doing. She DID drop a slip of paper with some weird numbers on it that he could understand. He took out the slip of paper, stared at it, then sent it up to her room, making the paper get pulled in by a shadow disguised as a simple breeze. It landed on her lap and sat there, rai stared up at her window, wondering if that helped at all.

  • Jean stared curiously at the paper. "That guy's number.." A small shiver rand down her spine and she looked at the other numbers. "Yes! I didn't loose Alia's cheats! Free time!" She did an air fist pump and went to turn up the music, going out into the other area of the house. Lifting a chocolate bar from the cabinet, she pushed the piece of paper down the front pouch of her school bag.

  • Rai smiled slightly at her happiness. It may not have helped with remembering what she forgot, but he was glad she was happy. Finally changing the cameras back into shadows, he stood up, putting his hands in his pockets. He smiled one last time at her happiness before making his way home. No use staying there any longer. He was starting to get cold.
