"Alright! That's it then, call your parents to come pick you up if you need to, and meet back here are 4:15 tomorrow!" the teacher announced before walking over to Gwen, "Thank you so much for helping out with this, I don't know what I'd do without you."
Daniel, meanwhile was already walking out of the room, putting his jacket on and getting his car keys out, prepping to run through the rain to his car.

"It's totally fine!" Gwen said, beaming a smile. "I really love working with the students, and being able to paint and have fun with the students while you do it!" She glanced at the clock. "Well, I'd better be getting home now. See you tomorrow!" she called to the art teacher, walking out the door. Gwen exited the school, dodging through the rain until she reached her car.
-
Daniel made it to his car cold and wet. He regretted leaving his umbrella at his apartment that morning and made a mental note to leave it by the door when he got home that night so he wouldn't forget it in the morning if it was still raining. He got back to his apartment, his soggy, cold clothes sticking to his skin. The first thing he did was grab a change of clothes before going into the bathroom for a much needed warm shower. The feeling of cold had settled in his bones, leaving him with an unshakable chill.
-
Gwen put her key in the car ignition, starting it up. She turned out of the school's parking lot and onto the rain-slicked roads. She drove along until she came to her apartment. She had chosen to stay off the university campus in an apartment. She parked her car, quickly walking inside. Gwen walked up the stairs, unlocking her apartment and going inside. She slid her jacket off her shoulders, placing it in the closet. She then headed into the kitchen, rummaging through the fridge to see if there was anything to eat.
-
After his shower, Daniel was rather tired, so he decided to watch TV for a bit before going to bed. It was late in the evening and the rain was a soothing noise in the background, making it Daniel feel very much at-ease.
-
Gwen eventually found a pack of frozen pizza, cooking it up. After she ate, the young woman hit the shower. She troweled off when done, then crashing in her bed. Gwen picked up a book that was on the bedside table, switching on the lamp. She opened to the bookmarked page, engrossing herself in the story.
-
There was nothing on TV that caught Daniel's interest, so after a while he decided to just go to bed. It was about 11 at night and he was exhausted.
-
Gwen finally put the book down, extinguishing her lamp. She rolled over so she was facing the small window in her room, watching the rain pour outside for awhile, before her eyelids finally closed and she fell into a peaceful sleep.
-
The next morning, the rain was still imminent over the city skyline, falling in a grey drizzle over the buildings. Daniel woke up to the high pitched beeps of his alarm clock, the sharp sound piercing his sleep, drawing him from his comfortable rest. He got up, hitting the off button on the alarm clock. He disappeared into the bathroom to brush his teeth and get ready for the day. Not much later he emerged and got dressed before moving into the kitchen to make breakfast. He made himself a mug of coffee and toasted his last bagel from the cabinet before leaving his apartment to drive to work.
-
Gwen got up the next morning to the sound of her radio alarm playing some random pop song. She groaned, rolling over to shut the alarm off. She wasn't much of a morning person. Eventually, she got up, throwing on some clothes and running a brush through her hair. After grabbing a bite to eat and brushing her teeth, she raced down to her car. She was on a break from school, so she headed to the school to help out with the art class again.
-
The library was empty when Daniel got there, as usual. He sorted some of the books that had been dropped off yesterday, putting them away. I was a slow morning like any other.
I should get payed a lot more for this, Daniel thought to himself as he sat in his chair, staring boredly around the room. -
Gwen parked her car, headed into the school. She stopped into the art room, and was then directed by the art teacher to head to the library to see which would be the best wall to do the mural on. Gwen agreed, then walked down to the library. She opened the door, which creaked slightly.
-
Daniel looked up to see who had entered the room, seeing Gwen, he stood up.
"Do you need any help?" he asked. -
"Maybe," Gwen responded. "I've been sent to scout out the walls here for the mural. Any preference as to which one it goes on?"
-
Daniel shrugged, looking around. All the walls were decrepit and shambled.
"They could all use some work," he said. -
Gwen tapped her chin with a finger. "Too bad we don't have permission to re-paint the whole library..." she mused. "Well, I think this wall will be the best!" she said, moving over to stand by the wall that had the largest area of unused space.
-
Daniel looked at the expanse of peeling, yellowed paint. She was right, it would be the best.
-
Gwen turned on her heel, starting to walk out the door. "Well, I guess I'll see you this afternoon!" she said brightly.
-
Daniel gave her a small wave as she left before going back to his desk. The day dragged by slowly. The afternoon eventually rolled around. The students would most likely begin the mural today.
-
The art class was gathered in the art room, where they talked while Gwen and the art teacher discussed the mural a little more. Eventually, they rounded up the students and walked down to the library, carrying all the necessary supplies.
