    Nova couldn't help but trail Steele with his eyes as she raced in the snow, wearing her training harness with a log strapped behind her. He smiled with pride. She's my own. The thought, badly wanting to shout it to the world but her knew he had to keep it to himself. Instead, he sat by himself, simply watching.


    Finally he tore his eyes away from his pup to look at the other sled dog, tail wagged slightly.

    Steele badly wanted to give up, her muscles ached and screamed for a break- though she didn't allow herself to stop. She had to show everybody that she could do it.


    So she pulled harder against the harness, tugging the log with her as she ran aimlessly. Her pink tongue had escaped her jowls and hung freely as she panted, her eyes narrowed with determination.
