Accompanied by an uproar, the king, who ruled supreme over the Greek army, hastily tried to shush the men (and women disguised as men) that had dared to disagree against his decision. The meeting had been over the agreement to become allied with the Roman empire. The Romans and the Greeks had a tumultuous history. The Greeks, who were a prideful people, did not sit well with being allied to their nemesis. If anything, they preferred to risk dying in vain against the Persians versus having to fight side by side with the Romans.

"Whether you agree or not, we are to trek to the Roman kingdom to mend the bond! There, their king and I will sign a treaty over food and drink. I suspect you all to be on your best behaviours. Otherwise... there will be dire consequences." To that, the army was quickly hushed. If it meant their heads, they'd suck up to the Romans in all ways possible. "Good," the king boomed, pleased to have caught his armies attention. He stood from his throne, standing over the vast expanse of all of his followers. "Now go! Prepare the horses and supplies for a long travel. We have a treaty to sign!"

The people of Greece obeyed, but they still whispered and murmured their disagreements among themselves.

Atlas rode atop his horse, listening intently to the conversations that swam around him in the dull air of the valley. He was in the throngs of the migration toward the Roman empire, but unlike the other knights, guards, and soldiers, he didn't join the conversations pertaining to how they all hated the Romans and how the king had made a horrible decision. He didn't agree any more than the next guy, but he knew to keep his mouth shut. Leading the group of thousands of greeks was the king, riding atop his magnificent horse in the front of the large group.

"What are you thinking, Atlas?" A friend asked him, who had ridden up beside him with his horse after noticing how quiet he had been the entirety of the trip. "Hm," he hummed, a slight smirk tugging at the corners of his lips. "I'm just thinking about all the pretty Roman women I might come across," he joked, earning a small chant of laughter from his friend and other nearby comrades who had overheard.

Truthfully, Atlas could care less about the women of Rome. He wasn't as smitten with intimacy as his comrades were. His 'wife' was fighting. He was looking forward to the ceremonial games that would take place; friendly wrestling matches, spear competitions, and other tests of strength. "I'm thinking of the women, too, comrade. But I also think of all the men I'm going to beat in the games."

With a scoff, Atlas gave his friend a sideways glance. "Aren't we all?"

ooc: alright, I'll have her be a woman disguised as a man. c:
I hope that this is an acceptable first post--my grammar and all is a bit funky. .__. my writing is usually better than this.

ic: "The Greeks! The Greeks are coming!!" A Roman Guard hollered. "Ready yourselves!!" he shouted again, resisting the temptation to shiver with fear. The Romans and Greeks had never been on good terms, and they probably never would be. They had waged war on one another countless times, no matter how much their two rulers 'made up'.

Near the beginning of the current battle, a young woman called Aeliana had decided to join the war, although she was a female. She could not help the fact that she always wanted to be a warrior, despite the rule that only men could fight. With her somewhat low tone and her late father's armor, she managed to gain the trust of the Roman imbeciles and weave her way into their fort.

The female warrior rushed up beside the guard, spear in hand. She caught sight of the opponent, as well, but after careful observation, Aeliana noticed that none of them weld any weapons. Frowning, she attempted to take a step closer, but the guard held her back. "Are you mad?! In case you've forgotten, those are the Greeks! Our enemy!"
"They have no weapons!" she retorted.
    "How do you know?!"
"Because I have two eyes that can see quite well!" Aeliana spat back, wriggling her hand out of his tight grasp. [/fancypost]

Atlas rode the rest of the way in majority silence, only adding into conversations when he saw fit. His head canted to the side as he heard his friend make a snide remark and he snickered, parting his lips as if to say something. Albeit the blast of a horn, one all too familiar, had the entire Greek army halting on their horses. He turned his head back forward and realised that they were currently standing in front of the Roman kingdom -- the walls that towered above said it all. "Oh god, we haven't brought any weapons," a voice mumbled. Everyone could see the alarm in the Romans' frantic movements, and they feared that a battle would ensue.

As the horde of Greeks slowed to a stop in front of the gates, Atlas gently prompted his horse forward through the throngs of men until he reached his king's side. "They are alarmed, my king," he murmured in a hushed tone, glancing at his leader for guidance. "Don't worry Sir Atlas; I know what I am doing." Atlas's gaze lingered on his king -- King Apollous -- and redirected his gaze to the gates. The large gates of the Roman kingdom opened slowly and what he presumed to be the Roman king stepped out with guards surrounding him. "We have come in peace, comrade!" King Apollous spoke, jumping off of his horse to appear smaller. Atlas instinctively slid off of his horse as well, feeling obligated to protect his king. A few others did the same.

"We have come to settle a treaty -- a proposal! You see, the Persians -- a common enemy of ours -- are plotting war against my kingdom and I fear that I will not best them without your help."

quick question-how are atlas and aeliana gunna meet?

ic: "You must take me for a fool, Apollus!" King Magnus boomed, furious. He then shooed his guards away, assuring them with much difficulty that he could take care of himself. "You will cast us aside when we defeat the enemy, like always! Now, you seek our aid once again. Do you expect to end our enmity with a mere feast, like the last time?!" The Roman ruler let out a loud guffaw that signaled for the others to do the same.

Aeliana did not relate to his humor-- mostly because it was true. Magnus had sparked another argument which would probably end in, like he mentioned, a feast. Quite frankly, she thought her King to be quite impressionable, and felt that Apollus walked all over him as if he was a doormat. She hoped that Magnus wouldn't be as easy to convince this time around--and that this quarrel would not end in her and her colleagues munching on chicken legs.

Aeliana turned her attention to the Greek King, awaiting his next excuse.

Atlas took a step forward in front of his king, as if to protect against King Magnus, albeit Apollus raised his hand and Atlas obediently took a step back and kept in his rightful place behind the king. "Please, King Magnus. I know we've had our differences, but I swear on the foundations of my kingdom that this time will not be like the last." Atlas folded his arms across his chest in an almost defiant manner, his blue eyes roaming about the guards and the warriors that stood about the entrance of the kingdom. He should have protested when his king told them not to bring weapons.

"Imagine a world where Rome and Greece are joined together in an alliance. With the strength of us two, we can create one huge empire stronger than any other! IC: King Magnus opened his mouth in protest, but then thought better of it. After a few moments, he said: "Very well. However, if you fail to keep your word about Greek and Rome uniting, my army will make sure that you will never see the light of day again." The Roman King whipped around, signaling with a finger that Aeliana should follow.

Aeliana was not in the least bit surprised. King Magnus had fallen for Apollus' tricks once again. Once this meeting was over, he would probably snicker and think of ways to tell the world how much of a fool the King of Rome was. She reluctantly followed, head bowed down. How I hate the Greeks. Aeliana thought. A wicked plot must be brewing in their good-for-nothing heads! [/fancypost]

"I promise you, King Magnus, you will not be disappointed this time."

Atlas sighed quietly in a shallow sense of relief; they were not completely out of harms way, albeit at least they had avoided an altercation for the time as of being. "Come, Atlas," Apollus murmured, motioning with a fluid movement for Atlas to follow him as he followed the King of Rome. Atlas faltered for a moment, slightly displeased at the aspect of being within the walls of Rome without his other comrades, howbeit so long as his king was by his side, he supposed he could feel slightly at ease with the notion. So with an obedient bow of the head, he followed his king after King Magnus, noting the guard that King Magnus had decided to take with him.

This particular warrior seemed a little more on the slender and small side, but he didn't doubt this warrior's abilities; Rome was, after all, known for it's ability to be utterly brutal in battle. If anything, the smaller Romans were even more dangerous because that meant that not only were they skilled and lethal, but they were also quick on their feet. Meanwhile, while the Greeks could be brutal, they were also known for their perseverance and valour. So as Atlas followed, he glanced around in awe at the beauty of Rome's architecture, but he wasn't going to admit that aloud.

Atlas sped up as his King did so, catching up to King Magnus with a knowing and smug smirk on his face. That didn't look good, and Atlas knew what it meant; this was another one of his King's sly tricks. No matter. Atlas would try to get his king to keep his word after everything was said and done; the last thing he wanted was a war with both the Persians and the Romans. "King Magnus, you would be wise to accept my offers. I may be a man of many faces, but I am not one to break a sworn promise."

"Indeed." Magnus rumbled, recalling the previous time Apollus had said this. "I presume that the purpose of this meeting is for you to convince me to believe you, correct? Well, it will not be that effortless a task this time around." He warned, leading them into a fairly small room. It was not as lavishly decorated as the many other rooms of the palace, but it was beautiful, nonetheless. "Help yourself to a seat." Magnus, of course, was only referring to the Greek King. "Make yourself comfortable--it might be the last time you get to be within the walls of the Roman Palace." He gave Apollus a light smile, but was hinting at something much darker. "Be as persuasive as you wish, Your Highness."

Be as persuasive as you wish, your highness. Aeliana stifled a snort. Within a single argument, Magnus would probably agree to Apollus' offer. At first glance, her King came across as strong-willed and powerful, especially with his thick facial hair and hawk-like eyes. In reality, however, he was exactly the opposite.

The female warrior decided that now was the best time to examine the Greek soldier standing opposite from her. Broad-shouldered, tall, and muscular; this guard was clearly a man. A feeling of disappointment washing over her, Aeliana looked away, but acknowledged his presence with a curt nod before she did so. [/fancypost]

King Apollus knew very well that the task at hand was to be persuasive and he was very well aware that the issue would not be as lightly tread upon as previous happenings. Thus, he took his seat without saying another word and lightly motioned for Atlas to take a stand beside his chair, though a few feet away from the table as to make a point that he was in no way affiliated with the conversation at hand. With a clearing of his throat, the Greek king rested his large hands on the table and looked at the Roman ruler with a stern but soft gaze. "I know I have been anything but honest with you the last time I called upon your aid."

Atlas shifted his weight from foot to foot for a few seconds before steeling himself and stopping all movement together. He stood erect, his hands joined in front of him, and his eyes only moving to rest between the two kings. However, a movement from the other side of the room caught his gaze and he looked up to see the Roman guard offer a curt nod. Getting a good look at him, Atlas was beginning to question his gender -- or her gender. "Fool! There couldn't possibly --" but his thoughts were interrupted as his king spoke again.

"I deserve your negative judgement for what I have done, but I swear on the future of my kingdom and the gods that hail over us that I will stay true to my word after this -- if you help me. It is quite obvious that my kingdom can not go on without worthy allies, as I find myself constantly having to turn to you and others when I find myself in danger. It is about time that I establish ties, King Magnus; starting with you and your well-trained soldiers."

ic: Magnus' eyes narrowed to slits. "Give me one good reason why I should believe you, Apollus. How do I know if you are going to betray me, yet again?!" The King growled, his tone rising with each word. "How do I know if you are not going to cast me aside once this is all over?" He asked, clenching his fists until his knuckles went white.

Aeliana stiffened at her King's rage--she had never seen this side of him before. Flitting her gaze back to the Greek Guard, she felt herself backing into the stone wall. Why was he observing her in that manner? Could he have..no, of course not. All these years, she had managed to keep her identity a secret--how could someone discover it now? However, Aeliana did not know if the Greeks were the same as the Romans--they could actually be intelligent. She crossed her arms, dipping her head. If the man standing before her found out, it would be the end of her career, and her.

Atlas inhaled a stiff and sharp breath, his muscles immediately growing taut as the Roman king raised his voice. Misfortunately, it wasn't like he had much of a weapon; all he had was a dagger, thus he knew making any irrational course of action would surely only result in anarchy. He had noticed the slight panic in the other guard's eyes, and made a mental note to himself to figure out the reason behind it under whatever means necessary. However, he did not want to make the room more tense than it already was so he refrained from looking at the guard -- though the thought of whether the guard was male or female was still etched in his mind.

"Because, King Magnus," the greek king began slowly, his gaze calculating as if he were trying to find a fitting reason. "If I don't own up to my promises, I'll accept any punishment from you -- even death." To this, Atlas wanted to protest. He stepped forward but was promptly ordered to stop with a raised and dismissive hand. He bowed his hand and took a step back once more, though his disapproval still ruining his once stoic features. He figured that he should zone out of the conversation before he became even angrier, so he redirected his contemplation to the guard despite his previous better judgement.

He couldn't help but squint his eyes slightly and cock his head to the side, clearly thinking hard about something. There was no way it was a woman -- she'd have to be one hell of a woman if she was going to be fit for the Roman army out of all armies there were.

ooc: you're completely fine. sorry for my late and crappy reply, by the way. my muse for this site is a bit late atm.
ic: Magnus stiffened, as if disturbed by the Greek King's statement. Surely, this was a trick, right? Apollus couldn't possibly give up his life for him, could he? However, if he was being honest, this alliance would be quite effective and worthy. "I cannot accept your offer, as I do not know if you are bluffing. However, I will definitely consider it." The Roman King nodded, but his solemn expression did not change. After a brief silence, Magnus rised from his chair, proceeding towards the door.

Aeliana noticed that the guard was still observing her. D*mn, look away, Greek! I am a man, just like you! She wanted to say, but held her words back with much difficulty. To her slight alarm, she was relieved and delighted when her King got out of his seat. Although she was somewhat disappointed that Magnus would take the matter into consideration, she was glad that the man wouldn't be staring at her anymore. Aeliana would be back in the presence of the Roman morons, once again. [/fancypost]
