  • 13 year old Melodie swore to herself that she'd never fall in love. Ever. She has never understood how girls could be so blind to the rest of the world, a male shielding their eyes. Why not direct your attention to something more exciting, like climbing a mountain, or coming up with more survival tips? The affections of a man meant nothing to her. As you could probably guess, that meant that she wasnt self conscious, a very handy trait. She had never worn mascara, or even blush. She wore scabs on her arms and bruises on her legs. She before had looked and looked for a worthy adventure companion, but out of all 627 students at Stoneridge High, none met her high expectations. Her whole world gets thrown off it's axel when your character moves to town. He is the perfect companion to Melodie, and a good friend. But could it be that they turn out to be more than friends?

  • Ooc: Accepted! And yeah, of course that's totally fine I just thought I should warn you. How about Melodie meets Antoine in the woods before school?

Melodie slung her backpack over her left shoulder and ran out the front door. "Bye Mom!" She yelled, running across their lawn to the curb, not looking before sprinting across the street. She ran up a hill and stopped, reaching inside her backpack for her half-drawn map and a pencil. Today was the day she would finish her map of the woods a mile or so from her house! It was 6:30, and school started at 9 so she had plenty of time. She retraced her steps from yesterday, her pace hurried. She looked down at her map, triple checking she had drawn every tree, every curve in the path. Melodie froze as she heard a twig snap with just enough force to confirm there was a human. What now, she thought to herself as she bounded up the nearest tree. A day or so ago, she had run into an angry lumber jack. Needless to say, she could now cross 'be chased by a man with a running chainsaw' off her bucket list. She leaned against the trunk of the Elm tree, all her sense alert.

  • Crap! Antoine thought, as he stepped on the twig. He stood, frozen, though still invisible from Melodie's view, for he was on the other side of the tree. He stood his ground, knowing that she must know that he had followed her.
"Erm- hello?" Antoine called out, he might as well just try to talk to her at least...

    Sorry, low muse ;_;

  • Melodie drew in a sharp breath when she realized that the... thing... was right behind her. She slowly turned when she heard the voice, but didn't yet respond. She looked down at the frozen boy, a sigh of relief heaving from her chest. She hopped down from the tree swiftly, and placed her hand on her hip. "Who are you, and what are you doing here?" She asked, her tone firm. Melodie had never seen him before, at school or otherwise. She slipped her map and pencil back into her backpack. She frowned at the ground. Thanks to him, she would probably get no work done what so ever.

  • Antoine bit his lip uncomfortably.
"I-i am Antoine, and I was just wandering... I'm not much of a people's person- so I didn't take the bus and well- I'm lost..." he said, looking to her with thoughtful eyes. He noticed that Melodie had paper and a pencil in her hands, and he then knew he must've disrupted something she was doing.
"I'm sorry if I bothered you-"

  • Melodie let out the breath she only realized she was holding when she let it out. "It's fine," She said. She checked her watch, 8:30. Where had all the time gone? She hopped out of the tree, landing swiftly on her feet. "Do you go to Stoneridge?" She asked, crossing her arms.

Sorry I'm on my phone it's a pain in the butt to type.

  • "Yeah, I think so." Antoine said, getting out papers from his bag.
"Yep. That's what it says on my schedule. So, I assume you do too?" Antoine said, tilting his head toward the rather feisty girl that was in front of him. Perhaps he could make a new friend... He was a loner at all the other schools he had attended.

  • "Yup, it's the only school around here, beside some private middle schools." She turned on her heel, expecting him to follow. "It's a bit of a hike of you don't want to be late," She warned. "Are you up to it?" She fully looked at him for the first time, noticing how scrawny he appeared to be. But she knew better than to judge people by their appearance, contrary to the popular girls at their school. "I assumed you're new, then?" She asked, starting to walk in the direction of their school.

  • Antoine nodded at the hiking part, he was always up for a challenge.
"Yes- I'm new- I just moved from California, to this small town..." he said gingerly, it was definitely a small town, and would take some getting used to for him. He examined the forest.
Yep, this definitely would not have been a short cut. he thought chuckling under his breath.

    Super low muse~ sorry

  • It's fine :)

Melodie's eyes widened in awe. "California?!" She exclaimed. "Ive always wanted to go there," She said, her the dreamy. Melodie was starting to like this kid. He could handle a challenge, and his spirit seemed to belong in the outdoors, like hers. "Just out of curiosity- how old are you?" She asked, not completely knowing where her question came from.

  • While walking, Antoine kicked rocks out of the way and seemed a bit unfocused on Melodie's voice. He looked up at her.
"Hmm? Oh- fourteen- about to turn fifteen soon though." he said with a small laugh.
"With yet another year of grief." he sighed, stuffing fists into his pockets, looking down back at the ground.

  • "What do you mean?" Melodie asked, slowing her brisk pace so her stride fell into place beside his. She shivered slightly in the cool Autumn breeze. She pulled her backpack straps tighter around her shoulders. The sound of leaves crunching under foot pleased her, Autumn was her favorite season. Everything was peaceful, nature preparing for the cold depths of Winter. "I'm Melodie, by the way." She said to her mysterious new friend.

  • "Antoine." said he, as he kicked pebbles out of the way.
"And well- I'm not really popular- or talkative... No one likes me." he said with a sigh. It was true, back at his old school he got the nickname 'The Quiet One' and no one would ever talk to him. He would go home every night depressed.

  • Like me, Melodie thought. "I don't really "fit in" either,' She admitted hesitantly.

    Sorry in a rush

  • A blush, something she was quite unfamiliar with, creeped up on her. "No, sorry, I didn't mean that." Melodie pondered how to say this. "It's just that, at our school, being an outsider isn't apreciated. The teachers want everyone to be friends, so they don't have to deal with all the teenage social issues, while the popular kids want nothing to do with me, and the normal kids have their own little circle of friends." She kicked a pebble a few feet away. "But now that you're here, we can be friends!" She smiled at him.

  • "Y-yeah!" Antoine said nervously.
So what if she's a girl? We can still be friends without it being- awkward, right? thought he, as he stuffed hands into his pockets.
"So- do you always take this way to school?"

  • Melodie turned towards him and walked backwards. "Sometimes, it depends on what mood I'm in. Also, if I'm working on something," She pulled out the half finished map. "Then I'll usually go this way. It's nice and quiet. My advice to you is NEVER take the bus if you don't need too." She ventured a small smile. He seems nice enough, she thought. A shiver ran up her spine when their shoulders accidentally brushed. What was that? She wondered.
