History
Pineclan is an old clan that has lived in it's home for many years, but it didn't used to be like this. The home of Pineclan is on an island, not in a lake or river, but an island in the ocean itself. This island is also home to twolegs, but they do not mind, or bother the members of the clan. Many years ago, before Pineclan even existed, two kittens were born in the wild. One kitten was born an orange tabby, with yellow-green eyes, and the other, a tortoiseshell with yellow-green eyes like her brother. They grew up together, cared for by their mother, until one day she disappeared. Alone and scared, the two kits relied on each other for comfort and warmth. Soon they grew hungry, and were forced to learn how to hunt, eventually becoming skilled at surviving in the wild. As they reached about a year of age, the two decided to leave their old home and search for someplace better suited for them. They wandered far, and discovered the edges of their island home, the same cliffs and beaches their mother had once spoke to them about. But living so close to the water didn't suit them, and when they moved inland they finally found the perfect place. A cozy clearing, looked over by an old root ball that created a sort of den that was lined with fallen pine needles. the two siblings lived here happily for many moons, until they remembered something. A story from their mother, one that she had told them long ago about groups of cats called clans. After recalling this tale, the two cats set out once more to travel down yet another fork in the road of their life. It took many moons, but finally they had gathered together a small band of willing cats who swore to stay with them 'till they end. So, they settled down once more in their cozy home, and Pineclan was born.
Pineclan became strong, and grew in numbers until they became a full clan. The siblings slowly built up foundation on which the clan could survive, and they thrived throughout the seasons. They constructed dens, and learned to live off the land, discovering how perfect their home was for clan life. Now the siblings govern the clan side by side, forming a strong leadership, and bringing peace and contentment to their clanmates.
The Island
The island that Pineclan resides on is covered in dense forest, and is a prime spot for a clan to live. The shores are mainly cliffs, but some beaches allow access to the water. Both evergreens and deciduous thrive there, but when it comes to the thickest parts of the forests, the evergreens are what you'll mostly see. Many of the forests are thick, and filled with undergrowth that is almost impassible, but the area where Pineclan lives is open and populated by ceders and firs. The more open areas in the forest are also home to a wide variety of mushrooms, big and small, growing on a stem, or sideways out of a tree, you are bound to see fungi everywhere.
Unlike what you might expect, there aren't really any springs or rivers on the island. Though this may seem like it would be a feature that would hinder the clan, and make survival much more difficult, it is not. It often rains of the island, and fresh pools that cats can drink out of are always around.
The island is home to more just the clan. Several other species live there, though none of them present a huge threat. The biggest threat to the clan is probably eagles, hawks, and racoons, but even these species don't do to much damage. The racoons don't bother Pineclan unless they are attacked, threatened, or approached with their young about. The only other time they even pay attention to the clan is when their homes are disturbed. The island homes quite a few bald eagles, as well as hawks, who are always on the lookout for a good meal, but these birds of prey will only go for members of the clan if they are somewhere open like a field, where almost no one goes, and there has yet to have been anyone who's been badly injured by any of the islands birds of prey. Other species of the island are deer, rabbits, and smaller birds like waterfowl and song birds.
Twolegs do live on the island, and during greenleaf(summer) the island is busy with twoleg tourist from the mainland. The population of twolegs that live permanently on the island however, is about 2,000, and their houses are spread out, with only one big clump in the small village near the center of the 12 mile island.
The Clan
This is the area that the clan has claimed, and has marked out for themselves. they guard it, and make it a safe place for themselves, always trying their best to keep out anything dangerous. The clan has a wide range of territory, for there is basically no competition except for that of other species, and there are no other clans on the island. Their territory consists of all woods, and though there are fields on the island they prefer the shade and protection of the trees. the clan's camp is in the center of the territory, and is well protected from danger by the clan itself. They have spots around camp where they train, as well as prime spot for collecting herbs and hunting.
the camp of Pineclan is a cozy clearing where all the members of the clan sleep and eat. It has several sheltered dens for different ranks of the clan, and is a well protected place.
I apologize for any blurry pictures.
The leaders of the clan sleep in a natural den, formed from a old root ball that has been completely covered in dirt and pine needles since the time it's tree fell. carpeted with fallen pine needles, the entrance was created out of brambles what were weaved together to create a sort of doorway, and across that doorway hangs moss that was tucked into the brambles at the top, creating a soft drape that cats can walk through. This root ball also serves another purpose though, the small hill of earth that has collected on it makes it a good place to stand on, and so it was made a gathering place where a leader can stand and make announcements or hold promotions.

the Nursery is where queens give birth to, and raise their kits. It is a soft, moss covered series of hills created by the sturdy trunk of a old, fallen tree, covered in mounds of dirt that had built up over time.. This too is natural, and was there, a perfect den, when the two leaders first arrived. The moss and dirt covering the log gives insulation against the cold, wind, and most importantly; rain. Because of this protection it is dry of the inside, and though one side is completely gone, it is surprisingly sturdy and comfortable. The side of the log that is missing has been covered up by the clan using springy branches and brambles, but because the nursery is home to kits, and they could get hurt of the thorns of the brambles, they are only on the outside, used as further protection. Unlike what you might expect, the Pineclan nursery is near the edge of camp, close to the Leader's den. This may seem unsafe, but it is actually well protected by the thick trunk and the moss and dirt shielding it from outside of the camp.

The main dens are a series of dens shared by the warriors and apprentices. These dens are warm, and the entrances are protected by brambles, they have moss lined nests inside, and each houses 4-5 cats.
The elder's den is a comfertable den created from several small tree that fell and are held up by an old stump. The clan weaved other branches into these fallen trees, and lined it with moss to keep in the warmth. Currently this den is empty, and sometimes used for sick patients of the Healers.
The Healers share a den that is underneath several large rocks, mysteriously stacked up against each other to create a spacious den that is perfect for the healers. It is a sheltered place for herbs in the far back, and closer to the entrance are several mossy nests for patients to sleep in. The Healers do not actually sleep in this den, but they sleep in a den right next to it, that is a large mound of dirt, clay, and tree roots. The dirt covers the top, creating a sound blocker against the elements, and the clay helps keep it tight packed so that the tree roots that grow down through the roof can support it better. In here are several nests, the apprentices sleep farther back, and the full Healers sleep close to the entrance. This secondary den where the Healers sleep is also used at herb storage, where the majority of the herbs are stored, especially the delicate ones that need to be kept dray and safe, as well as father out of the reaches of playful kits.
The freshkill pile is where all the members of the clan but their catches after hunting, and where they come when they need a meal. The freshkill pile is shelter by two trees that fell at a young age, onto an older tree, crossing over each other and creating the foundation for this sheltered spot. The clan members wove other branches between these two trees, giving it a sheltered roof much like the Elder's den. This area however, is not as sheltered as the Elder's den, and lacks the insulation of soft moss, and the freshkill pile is completely open on one side, unlike the side opposite to it which is protected by a wall of weaved branches.
(What the freshkill pile looked like before the branches were weaved in)

Leader: The leader rank is what you might expect, the leader or leaders govern the clan and taken care of their clanmates.
Adviser: The advisers are like deputies, they advise the leader(s) and help them make important decisions. These cats sleep in the main dens with the warriors and apprentices. (There can be several)
Healers: The healers are like medicine cats, but unlike the typical medicine cat, there are/can be more than one of them.
Trainee Healers: The trainee healers are simply apprentices training under the healers of the clan. Each one has a specific healer mentor, but all the healers can aid in their training.
Patrol Head: The Patrol Heads is in charge of organizing daily patrols. Though the advisors and sometimes the leaders also do this, the patrol head is the cat that is in charge of doing this every day, and not just occasionally like the advisors and leaders sometimes do. In short the patrol head is a trusted, more experienced warrior that is in charge of daily patrols.
Event Managers: Help plan and think of events for the clan.
Warriors: Warriors are, again, what you probably expected. They make up the majority of the clan, and help feed and protect the clan.
Apprentices: Cats training under a warrior to become a warrior themselves.
Queens: She-cats that live in the nursery and are currently pregnant, or taking care of kits.
Kits: the youngest members of the clan, they live in the nursery with the queens until apprentice age.
Elders: Elders are usually older cats who have stopped their past roles and who live in the elder's den, not having to work anymore. Sometimes thought elders can be younger cats who can no longer fulfill their past roles.

-The clan member dips their head respectfully to their clanmates, and the clan returns the gesture.-
-"And when the sun goes down we will live forever."
Pineclan isn't a religious clan, for Starclan does not walk in their skies. They will accept cats who have their on beliefs, but the clan is religious in and of itself.
-"And then he granted the power of leadership to the mother and father of all cat kind."
Some cats in Pineclan have heard rumors, myths and legends about the island before it was populated, and the first group of cats to ever walk it. Pineclan is the first clan, the first group of truly united cats to tread the island, but it is believed there were other groups from a very long time before them, who lived roughly banded together, dominating the island before the twolegs even arrived, and building up the foundation of cat kind in this tiny paradise.
Long ago before the twolegs came to the isle, two cats roamed, free to tread it's shores and carve paths through it's dense forests. These cats were called the prima, which means the first, but individually they were known as Mother and Father. for they are thought to be the mother and father of all cat kind. Mother was a cat of the sea, she roamed the ocean shores and scaled the cliffs that lined the island. Father was a cat the the land, he explored the forest, fields, and hills, learning the whole island by heart.
But the two grew restless, they knew the whole island and felt that nothing more could be done to occupy them. Seeing this, Vita the immortal guardian of the island, came the the two in a vision, and told them of a deal. Vita would present each with gifts, which they called 'the gifts of survival', if each cat promised to guard to the island, and in this way become guardians beside Vita, helping the immortal being with their infinite task.
Delighted, the two mortals, Mother and Father, agreed to the deal and were given the gifts of survival. To Mother Vita gave the gifts of leadership and strength, as well as fertility. While to Father Vita gave the gifts of mercy and patience.
As time passed and the two cats thrived on the island once more, they began to slack, caring more for their abilities, than the welfare of the island. Soon Vita began to get angry, and once again came down to speak to the Mother and Father. He explained his anger, and when the two challenged Vita, overconfident with there gifts given to them by the spirit they now challenged, the anger of the guardian grew and a battle ensued. The Mother and Father soon found out that while their gifts gave them new-found skills, they were not powerful enough to defeat the spirit that protected the island. After the battle was won, the spirit reprimanded the mother and father for their irresponsible actions, and for not holding up their end of the deal. When many apologies came from the two cats, Vita forgave them, and decided to grant them one more chance. He told them that if they should ever have a litter of kits, then they must train the kits and pass on the skills given to Mother and Father, and in that way give the kits the ability to survive and protect the island as Mother and Father should have done.
In time the prima decided that it was time. There were five kits. As the kits grew it finally came time for Mother and Father to choose the kits' names. One was was a dark brown tabby with long, sharp claws, and rippling muscles. This kit they named mercy, for though he possessed strength and much power, he was a merciful kit, and would never hurt or kill unless it be on completely last resort. The next kit they named Leadership for her ability to communicate well with all the other kits, she was the one who took charge when things got complicated. Leadership had dark green eyes and a beautiful tortoiseshell coat that helped her blend in well with the dense forest, which as spotted with sun, her peach patches giving the illusion that she was simply a rock, dappled with sunlight. An orange tabby, amber eyes, lithe body, taught muscles. Strength, for though he was not nearly as physically strong as Mercy, strength was the strongest kit mentally. He could pull through almost any situation, one of the most mentally mature kits of the litter, he knew the limits, but broke them anyway.
