Jadepaw and Nightmist: Training thread (PRIVATE)

    Jadepaw bounced happily into the hallow, excited about training. "What are we going to learn first?"

    "It's a simple battle move. Great against weak cats." Nightmist mewed. She stood in front of Jadepaw and batted her snout with her paws, claws sheathed. "Now you try." Nightmist ordered Jadepaw.

    Jadepaw swung her paw at Nightmist and batted at her muzzle. Jadepaw was very quick but her attention often wondered. "Like that?" She asked hopefully.

    "Yes. But this time use both paw for greater affect and when you are battling use your claws." Nightmist meowed . "Now try again."

    Jadepaw tried again with both front paws but struggled to balance on her back legs. She fell and stuck her muzzle in the sand.

    "It's a hard move when your legs aren't strong." Nightmist sympathized. "To strengthen the just walk around on your hind legs, lets practice." Nightmist reared stood on her hind legs perfectly balanced and walked around the clearing.

    Jadepaw tried the same thing. After a couple of falls she managed to be able to balance more. "Like this?"

    "Yes. Welldone, Jadepaw." Nightmist praised. Her pride that her first mentoring session was going well made her feel warm inside.

    Jadepaw smiled. "I think I'm ready to do that first move again." She said, a smile on her face.

    "Well done, Jadepaw!" Nightmist praised. "Now lets practice if I attack you, try to slip under me and but your head at my stomach to unbalance me."

    Jadepaw jumped forward and ducked under nightmist. She was unable to unbalance her the first time.

    "Well done, Jadepaw! But I think you were a little afraid of unbalancing me and so you couldn't. Kick out harder now." Nightmist meowed.

    Nightmist toppled to one side. "Well done!" Nightmist praised again. "Now let's go bring some fresh-kill back for the clan." Nightmist padded from the clearing and into the undergrowth. "Watch me hunt then you try." Nightmist mewed to Jadepaw over her shoulder. Nightmist slid into the hunting crouch just as a pigeon hopped from the safety of it's tree. She slid forward on silent paws suddenly the pigeon saw her but it was too late, Nightmist killed with a swift nip even before it could utter and alarm call.
