A silent shape races through the underbrush breathing hard. It is a she wolf caring her newly born pup in jaw. behind her can be heard the heavy footfalls of a hunter. Fear is flashing in the her eyes. She knows she won't be able to outrun this human so she franticly scans the forest flashing by. She spots a hollow tree up ahead and races to it. She gently sets her pup down and licks it once on top of the head before racing away. A few moments later shot rings out through the forest off. The pup, now orphaned, begins to stir and whine and searching for her mothers warm sent. Hours pass and the kits cries grow weaker before they stop altogether. The pups chest, faintly rising and falling are the only sign that she is still alive.

Night slowly crept around the forest with a rabbit in her jaw. She was a mother a long time ago but her pups died from hunters. She was now a loner. She stopped when she herd a whimpering noise and listened until it stopped. She slowly crept into the tree den and stopped when she saw a pup. At first she thought the pup was dead but then she saw its movement and laid down next to the pup.

Night nuzzled the pup towards her stomach so the pup could suckle. She wrapped her tail around her pup to keep the pup warm

Night looked around the den, "I wonder where your mother is..." She said quietly. She looked down at the pup and licked its head.

Night smiled and laid down to sleep, "shhh" she whispered quietly.

Night opened her eyes and walked out the den to go hunting. Once she came back she went to children up on the pup.
