Yes, she knew how individuals like him worked. This was nothing more than a simple game -- a game similar to the one she played with Ferid on a daily basis, in which they both acted cordial and amiable towards the other, yet while inwardly, they did not trust their partner. For her, putting up a facade came naturally, seeing as that was pretty much all she had been doing for the past century or so. Though, she supposed that that was what naturally came with any position of power. Rulers certainly couldn't allow their subjects to know of their insecurities and doubts, of course. It was their job to stay level-headed and retain their composure even when everyone else was a mess -- any ruler who couldn't manage to rule themselves at the very least could automatically be deemed 'unfit to rule' (at least by her standards, but it wasn't like anyone else's mattered to her in the slightest).

Given that she was paying such close attention to his movements, it was practically impossible for the vampiress to not mentally note how he began gripping the grass underneath his paws, when he spoke of his mother. To her, that obviously indicated some unresolved conflict between the two, perhaps even of the dominionite's resentment towards the latter. At the moment, she was feeling somewhat inquisitive, though seeing as after, the lord continued to keep talking (he really didn't run out of things to say or pleasantries to exchange with her, did he?), she simply decided to hold her tongue for now, and listen. It seemed that he was now... complimenting her name? Interesting. Allowing herself a small chuckle, she would quickly respond, adopting a gratuitous air, "My name, you say? Well... thank you, I suppose." The seventh progenitor showered her with compliments all the time, though she was well aware of the fact that the 'love' he claimed to harbour was really for her power, and so, she tended to ignore or disregard most of them. Either the margay was trying to get her to lower her guard, or he just really was this... friendly. Though, given the nature of most mortals, she highly doubted it was the latter. They were greedy, disgusting creatures, with a horrible affinity for deception. For anybody to trust one with their life, would be more like that someone throwing their life away. Perhaps their were one or two exceptions (as they did say that there was an exception to every rule), but for this dominionite to be one of them -- that would be far too coincidental for her liking, really. Her fortune was far from terrible, but she was wise enough to know better than to trust in such a fickle, unpredictable concept that much.

His eyes seemed to narrow after he registered her inquiry. Naturally, he had the right to be suspicious. Perhaps she could even give him some credit for acting so, as it indicated that he did possess some loyalty for his clan. Anyone that possessed such a virtue deserved some respect from others (including enemies), so she believed. Though, in her eyes, it only reinforced the fact that no matter what he did or how he acted, he was still an enemy. However... he did choose to respond with what she knew to be a truthful answer, seeing as she had the Sight activated at all times as a precaution whenever she left bloodclan. What an curious personality, this one had. Allowing the corners of her lips to curve upwards slightly into a the faintest of smiles, she would give herself a moment to think, before commenting in a neutral tone that was perhaps what could be described as borderline 'cryptic' as she spoke, "Mikaela Hyakuya. It's... fitting, for someone like you." Whether he chose to take that as an insult or a compliment really depended on his personality; she would honestly be fine with whichever he so chose. The male that had introduced himself as 'Mikaela' then went on to inquire about how her clan was fairing, at the moment. She was certain that he hadn't asked such a thing with the intention of trying to get information about his enemy out of her (unless he was that type of individual, which would mean that her analysis of him was entirely incorrect). Overall, it seemed like a fairly harmless question -- one that she would be willing to answer, partially because she harboured no real love for her current place of residence. "All is well with us. Though, in my own personal opinion, there's nothing of any incredible significance happening right now." Perhaps that answer had been a bit vague and perhaps even a little untruthful, but her personal affairs (especially those regarding the Vampire Division of the Baskerville family) didn't really concern someone like him, so she saw no need to spill her entire life along with all her current problems.

Now, going back to the whole thing about his mother... she didn't really take pleasure in prying into other people's past, especially if they were someone whom she had only just met, though, she couldn't help but feel the urge to say something, other than a response to a question. Surely, after all the inquiries he had made, she held the right to ask some of her own, no? For a moment, she would purse her lips, a slightly more serious expression ghosting across her child-like features. "... Excuse me if this is a little out of the blue, but... did you perhaps not get along too well with your parental figures?" In all honestly, mortal relationships were quite... interesting, to her. Most of the ones she had always heard about were disgusting, but she supposed that was to be expected, given that they were all such petty and vile creatures with no love for anyone but themselves.
