  • Jixie hissed at the ally cat and dug her claws into his throat. The ally cat struggled for air. "Get outta here cat!" She spit into his face. He kicked her off of him and fled away. Jixie smirked and turned back to the rat. "You okay?" She asked.

  • "Yeah, fine. Why did you help me?" Oregano asked, confused. She still didn't understand. Not many of the animals she helped bothered helping her once they were fed...

  • Jixie blinked and shook her head. "I-Well, I had to repay you some how. This good enough?" She laughed lightly and pointed to the ally cat that was running away.

  • "You had to repay me?" Oregano asked, the tip of her tail twitched. "For what? I never did anything that you had to repay!"

  • Jixie shook her head. "Showing me the food that I ate was a life savior. I would've died if it wasn't for you." She smiled crookedly and looked at the rat. "Rat, it is in my nature to repay debts." She was never going to get used to the rat's real name...

  • Oregano sighed and said, "Well, if it's in your nature..." She looked around and twitched her ears. She then turned to Jixie and said, "I'll make a deal with you. How about I help get you back up to good health? You could live with me if you'd like." To be honest, she wished dearly that the cat would come live with her. The winters and springs were harsh with snow storms and the falls and summers were brutal in the heat rising from the cement...she didn't believe the cat would make it more than a year at most.

  • Jixie twitched her ears. A emotion rose and bubbled up in her throat. Was it...Affection? She shook the thought away and nodded. "Alright, I'll live with you. But, I get to do all the hunting!" She lightly laughed and nudged the rat with her soft paw. The cement seemed to burn under her paws. Gosh, it was hot out here.

  • Oregano snorted and said, "Lucky you, getting to hunt and stuff. Anyway, follow me. I know a way home that doesn't include hot cement 24/7. I just hope you're ready to run if needed." She hopped onto a dumpster and onto a windowsill. "Lucky this one's abandoned."

  • Jixie cocked her head to the side. "Why do I have to run now?" She asked, bunching up her legs and leaping to the windowsill. Her paws scrabbled as she caught her balance. She wasn't the most agile cat when she was hungry. Her stomach growled a bit as she looked at the rat. Friend, not food, she thought.

  • "It's just in case a twoleg finds us. That'll be rare though...I promise." Oregano scampered to the farthest corner of the room to a medium sized hole in the wall, just big enough for a cat to barely squeeze through. "We'll be traveling through walls, isn't that cool?"

  • Jixie smirked and leaped into the room. her feet thudding on the floor as she landed. Musky aroma filled her senses. Her throat seemed to be filled with them already. "Walls? Sweet!" She smirked. She padded towards the wall and lowered her body to the size of a small, but thick plank of wood. It was easier then she thought. Since she was so lithe, she squeezed through the hole and entered the next room.
