Her heart beat raced. "Pinegaze?" She smiled then remembered something. "Oh, and it's Cometburn now."

She laughed, "Haha, it's great to see you! When did you change your name? How have you been doing? What's happened to you since the last time we met? How'd you find me?" Realizing that she was pelting her old friend with too many questions, she shook her head and looked back at the cat, beaming, "It's been so long... In fact, my name is now Pinestar, and I lead this clan!"
---
Fernstep stood with Brightpaw, and the two watched the reunion from a short distance away. -
Cometburn laughed as well. "I'm glad to hear that things worked out well for you. I wish I could say the same for me. But I can work through it." She stopped and said softly. "Your right, it's been so long. To long really. But I'm glad I found you."
-
Pinestar felt a stab of sympathy as Cometburn mentioned that things hadn't been working out so well for her. But she kept herself upbeat, because, after all, she got to see Cometburn again! She pressed her muzzle to her friend with a purr, and she got an idea, "Would you like to join Gazeclan? We'll need all the help we can get, especially because I'm sending Fernstep and another cat out on a quest to get more cats."
-
Cometburn brightened. "I would love to join!" She purred and smiled. She had found the forest, Pinestar, and a home. She felt better than she ever had!
-
Pinestar grinned, thrilled at her friend's enthusiasm. "Let's introduce you to everyone, then, and you can get accustomed to our clan life," she meowed, resting her tail on Cometburn's shoulder. The judge then led her into the camp, and added, "First you may want some food after your journey. Our fresh-kill pile has plenty."
---
Brightpaw was a little upset at how easily this new cat got in the camp, without even being challenged. With an annoyed hiss, he stalked back to the novice's den to continue trying to wake Darkpaw up.
---
Fernstep sighed at seeing how happy her sister was, glad for her. But the arrival of Cometburn seemed to have completely pushed the fact that she was leaving on a quest out of Pinestar's mind. She didn't want her sister to worry, of course, but she still wanted her to act a bit more caring. The quest still had risks, and she wanted Pinestar to not brush the thought off so quickly. -
Cometburn smiled once more and shook with excitment. She couldn't think about eating right now, so she would wait. "Thank you for the offer, but I think I'll wait."
-
Pinestar nodded, "All right then." She looked around, and realized that the clan might not be too keen on the idea of a meeting immediately after the first one. "We can officially introduce you to the clan as a new member tommorrow, I think. For now, you can explore if you like." The folded-ear cat smiled at her friend, excitement still tingling in her paws at Cometburn's arrival.
-
Cometburn nodded and turned away. She started at the fresh kill pile and began to pad around. There were many different dens- One with young cats gathered around. Another with larger, stronger looking cats. One that looked warm and cozy and smelt like milk. And finally one that seemed lone and peaceful. She sat and looked around. This felt like a real home to her.
-
Pinestar was tempted to invite Cometburn to share her den until her friend was fully recognized by the clan. She sat down, pondering the idea.
---
Fernstep sighed at her sister, shaking her head. After a few heartbeats, she padded over to Taylar, meowing, "We should prepare for the quest, and eat the traveling herbs." Perhaps the sight of preparing to leave would catch Pinestar's attention.
---
Shade heard Fernstep, and her gaze hardened. She still wasn't completely fine with the idea of her novice running off on some quest, putting her life in danger. But she knew that it was necessary in order for Gazeclan to gain more cats, and started to grab the herbs for the journey. -
Cometburn shook her head, realizing she was pretty hungry. She trotted over to the fresh-kill pile and grabbed a thrush off of it. She laid down and began to eat, searching the camp for someone to talk to. Maybe she would meet someone new in this new Clan.
