  • Ohmygod-

Veleda almost jumped in horror at the sight of him, willing the glass to vanish so she could help somehow. She just froze at that moment, watching and feeling like she couldn't even breathe properly.

Never had she felt this hopeless before, not even when she'd lost her sister. That was a distant hurricane slowly raging towards her and dying before it hit. She was utterly hopeless then. This was a frightful storm and she was part of it, unable to stop it. The hopelessness was painful now.

She heard the voice but didn't understand it, feeling only rage as she spun around. After that it was a blur, she was strapped down by doctors, not sedated for some reason? She struggled and kicked, almost succeeding again but she was outnumbered really. And the question was asked again.

"Who helped your friends get out?"

She spat on his face, keeping shut but surprised at the query. What was he talking about? Melody and Damaris? They had escaped?

  • Ryan tried to stand up, but his attempt at it didnt go well, and trying to support himself using the wall turned out to be a bad idea, as he only managed to leave a bloody handprint on the glass. He couldnt help. He felt completely useless, now more than ever, when all he could do was watch.

A second doctor joined the first one.

"She wont talk? Perhaps we can find some sort of....motivation...." he said, looking at Ryan.

  • "What are you- NO!" She yanked at their hold, failing. "What kind of crazy lunatics ARE YOU? HE'S ALREADY DYING LET ME SEE HIM!"

It wasn't working, they weren't listening. She felt like a helpless trapped animal, yelling and struggling in vain. "DON'T HURT HIM WE DON'T KNOW ANYTHING!"

  • The doctor laughed. "He's not DYING you silly girl. We just took blood for tests so he's a lil dazed. It's not MY fault he struggles, all his injuries are his fault. " he turned to the other doctor "prep him for surgery in the morning. Im sure it'll work this time." he said, and they left.

  • "What surgery? What the heck are you going to do to him?" She yelled after them but they were gone already.

She leaned against the glass again, "You need to leave this shithole, punk. Before they do some crazy shit on you, you need to go. Can you hear me? You need to escape when they come to take you. Can you do that? Can you walk? Punk, are you listening? You NEED to escape!"

  • "Im listening yes." Ryan answered. Truth be told, he wasnt really afraid. What was the worst they could do? Did it really matter? Damaris and Melody had escaped.

"Ill try, but only if you join" he said. He couldnt exactly walk out the front door. Or...walk for that matter. He'd be fine, he was okay.

  • "I can't, don't be stupid. They won't take me outside. Just leave without me, punkster." She explained, "I'm not the one they're planning a surgery on. I'm perfectly fine! I'll escape later or something- Whatever. You're going to try your goddamned best, okay?"

  • "But i dont wanna leave without you" he answered squishing his cheek against the glass to look at her better from his rather awkward position. What was the point? He couldnt go home...what had happened to his father? he was there, but what about his mother? Surely if Damaris and Melody escaped, at least his mother would? The doctor said something about someone helping them.

  • "Yeah? But you have to anyway because I say so! Don't be so stubborn, punk, imma punch you," she scolded out of habit. It was the last thing she would do at this moment really. God, he looked terrible.

"You're going, I'm not. End of discussion."

  • Ryan smiled. "You cant threaten to punch me. How are you gonna do it?" he asked tapping the glass between them. she could try. He wasnt leaving without her.

"Plus, i can barely stand let alone run away"

  • Veleda tried to glare him down but only noticed more and more how horribly bloody he was and the frustration turned to concern quickly. "Shut your mouth hole and try at least!"

  • "Okay. But you have to try too." Ryan answered.

"What time do you think it is? If Damaris and Mel escaped they might come back for us" he said. "I look like a mess dont I? Im sorry you have to see me like this, i know im usually fabulous. " he tried to joke when he saw she was concerned.

  • "I don't know, I don't know," she held her head. "Shut up, punk." He was just being stupid now. Who knew if they had escaped successfully even? They didn't even know what city this was or how long had it been. They could have been captured by some other crazy lunatics for all they knew. The rescue idea was too far-fetched to think of. All she knew was that he had to escape somehow before it was too late.

  • Somewhere between the shut up and thinking of a reply, he fell asleep.

The next day he woke up when the doctor and his people showed up. He sighed and pretended to go along with it, and tried to escape at the door. Before he knew it, he was slammed to the ground by the significantly stronger people. Yay. That'd bruise.

    So much for escaping...

  • Veleda woke up to the sound of a door unlocking and someone pulling her up to stand up. She did what she had been doing for the past times and tried to kick and punch and smash against the hold. Her previous mildly successful attempts were a complete failure this time and met with a stronger hold, but only defensive for some reason. She was in the middle of struggling when she saw that the person wasn't wearing a lab-coat and looked averagely her own age. At first, she was just confused for a while but then it started to make sense.

"Well, we have a fiery one here. We're here to rescue you, war-girl. Calm down!" Someone else said, Veleda turned to notice the girl. The guy set her free and motioned for her to follow.

"Wait- Did you-" She turned around to see through the glass and saw the room was empty. Did he try to escape? Was he successful?

    "Did you rescue someone else?"

"Nope, just you today. But we know there's a red-head around here somewhere. Your friends informed us." So these were the guys who helped them escape.

"Yes, he was right here-" Veleda pointed to his cell, "But he's been taken for surgery now. We need to get there now!" And she shot across the room like a wild beast, being followed by the other girl and the guy.

"Calm down, do you even know where you're going? Geez!" Clementine said, stopping in front of Veleda and turning to Adelaide who was supposed to lead them. He was taken for surgery so it wasn't going to be as easy as breaking into the cells. They'll be face to face with the scientists now. One thing was for sure though, they were just doctors really. They might have fancy gadgets and security but they were no good at hand to hand combat. At least they had a upper hand in that case.

  • Adelaide was waiting for them after picking the lock to the door that lead to what was called the "operation theater", according to the sign on the door. She walked in ahead of the others, and slipped right past the two guards at the second door. Those were a Clementine and Cassius problem.

She opened the door. And sadly realized they were late. The doctors were already frantically trying to do something but she grabbed his collar with one hand and punched him as hard as she could with the other. These were the same ones who had done the exact same thing to her.

  • To Veleda it seemed to happen too quickly. All she saw was a blood covered Ryan being held by the guy who had rescued her and taken down every guard in their way like it was a piece of cake. They were running one second and climbing a van the other, but Veleda was too terrified of whatever the hell they had done to him. The girl told her he was alive and had lost a lot of blood but they had to get him to the head-quarters soon- wherever that was. To Veleda, he just looked dead and ghost-like.

Somebody made a bandage, someone else made a makeshift drip but Veleda just clutched his hand in hers and stared outside, trying to send a message inside his head. You better not die on me, punk. Stay. Bloody. Alive.

  • Juliet, who was the assigned driver given the fact that she would avoid actual fighting as much as she could, was told to step on it, and so she did.

"Um is he....gonna make it? He's ghostly pale" she asked, but the only one paying attention was Adelaide, who just nodded. Okay whatever.

As fast as humanly possible, they were there.

  • Cassius got out and picked him up, sort of sprinting inside the building. Veleda followed and found herself being called out, Melody? Damaris? She only saw shock and fear on people's faces, matching her own somewhat.

Ryan was taken to a room and a dozen people were tending to him, the parents joining in and during all that, Veleda found herself being left behind and standing alone somewhere.

The crowd thinned, leaving the job to one person. Who was it?

"Don't worry, he'll be fine. We have a doctor here." The girl from before patted her shoulder. Veleda just nodded at that, sitting down on the nearest couch.

Someone engulfed her in a hug then, someone who smelled a lot like her mother. Perhaps she was just so very tired or perhaps she felt like the one at fault, but she stayed there for a long time, unable to speak, unable to cry.

  • There was SO much blood. Melody remained frozen for a bit, breathing rapidly and feeling every beat of her heart. This was real. He could die.

She looked around for someone, anyone familiar and the first one she saw was Veleda. She shakily walked to her, but stopped when her mother hugged her. Still, she sat down next to Veleda and stared numbly at the floor, her hands continuously moving trough a long strand of hair.
