  • "Who's talking to you, blondie?" Veleda acknowledged Natalie for one second and then went back to yelling at Damaris.

Damaris was frustrated enough to yell back in defense but honestly, it wasn't a big enough issue to waste his breath on. They were fine in the end, that's what mattered.

He waited for the two of them to stop and finally said, looking at both of them. "You guys done?"

Veleda was still glaring at him, "Did any of this even get past your thick skull?" She said slowly.

Damaris just shrugged, "Some bits." He smiled, already forgetting about the situation. "I'm going to go grab lunch. You wanna come with me?" He asked Natalie and then turned to the rest of them. "Anything else?" He knew they probably wouldn't come with him but he asked them anyway. After getting a negative response and a clear angry frown from Veleda he decided to just leave. He didn't want any more lectures.

"How about you don't end up drunk at somebody else's house for today?" Veleda commented, not even hearing a response and going back to the kitchen.

  • Left? For lunch? WITH NATALIE?
Melody went back to the kitchen not even bothering to say anything else. She sat at the table acros from Veleda and crossed her arms.
Ryan followed the girls into the kitchen and began taking plates and stuff from the drawers and cupboards. At least he had who to cook for. He gathered his ingredients and didnt say anything for a while.
"So...yknow i wasnt ThAT drunk right? I was okay.."

  • "Shut it, punk. You almost stabbed your foot, you don't get to say anything." Veleda commented, not looking at Ryan.
She kind of felt like she had to say something to Melody and calm her down. She didn't exactly know why Damaris had decided to spent the night at Natalie's so she couldn't possibly defend him in that matter. He was simply careless and irresponsible. She couldn't believe how quickly they had stopped looking out for danger and how much comfortable they had become here. This wasn't okay.
"I don't trust that girl...and honestly, at this point, I don't trust anyone we've met." She started, "Except you guys and Neira, I suppose." She shrugged.
"My point is, we've been here too long. Don't you think? This wasn't supposed to be a permanent visit. I don't care what that baboon has to say about this but what he did was not just ridiculous but also very risky. We can't keep living like this. We're on a goddamn run from psycho scientists! We need to move."

  • "Fair enough." Ryan shrugged. He was lucky he wasnt hungover at least, so he listened to Veleda talk while chopping things up and mixing things. He decided on making pancakes and so he was preparing everything and had already taken out a pan.

"I trust Neira. She's too innocent to be hiding anything, and way too open about herself." Melody answered. From the moment they had met, she found out everything there was to know about Neira. She felt like she personally knew her family and cat after being told so much about them.
"We can go a few towns over, and we could soon. The sooner the better " Melody would never admit she was happy to leave Natalie behind. In a few short weeks she had grown to absolutely despise the girl, despite there not being any obvious signs of it. She just...couldnt trust her. Didnt want to trust her. She got way too friendly way too fast with Damaris and he was trusting her like an idiot. Truth be told, he had trusted HER like an idiot all the same when they had first met. But there was something about Natalie that just didnt let Mel trust her.
She paused as soon as a plate of pancakes was in front of her. She needed to appreciate the cooking friend a lot more.

  • "All right, then." Veleda nodded. "We should start sorting our plans soon." She stood up and heaved a sigh. She felt super tired for some reason. Although she wasn't exactly angry anymore, but the encounter with Ryan and then Damaris had left her somewhat drained. People, it seemed, were more complicated than she had thought so. It was exhausting. She sort of missed being alone. Not that she didn't like them...it was just very tiring. It was probably this place, their lives and the mess. They needed to get out of here, and soon.

Food will have to wait, she thought, surprising even herself.

"I'm gonna go play for a while. I'll eat in a bit." She said shortly and left the kitchen.

  • "Play?" Ryan asked, a little out of it. what? "but...its gonna get cold..." he trailed off, although Veleda had already left. Oh well. At least someone was happy about the food. The girls were right tho, they had to leave. Soon. He didnt like this town anymore. Sure, he'd never been popular or anything, but at least he'd been ignored. Michael was a whole other thing he did not know how to deal with. He wasnt generally a violent person. Well...not with others at least. He ate his food, blankly staring at the door. Hoping someone would walk in? He didnt know. But it was quiet. Melody never made much noise, and for now only the light scratchig of a pencil against paper could be heard. He understood why it was sort of calming. When he finished his food, he put the plate in the sink. "if anyone asks im out for a walk" he told Melody and walked out

  • After an hour of ruthless playing of her guitar strings, Veleda decided to eat lunch. She ate quietly and noticed only now the new drawing Melody had added on the fridge. Well, that was a nice one. If only they were still like that, huh.

She finished it up quickly and decided to take a nap after a cold bath for no reason whatsoever. Naps and cold baths were always good.

  • Ryan walked along, hands in his pockets. This whole thing was getting messy. He didnt expect this. He wondered if maybe he would have been better off by himself. Nobody to explain things to, nobody to find out his secrets, nobody to hide from, just...him. He briefly wondered if he hadnt walked just a little too much, but he didnt want to go back now, so he kept going.

He didnt pay too much attention to the two men in front of him, that were walking towards him. Probably nice dudes. Going out together or something. He heard steps behind him as well, and dared look. Nope. Michael. with another two guys. He sped up a bit, but before he knew it, the guys in front of him had caught him. This wasnt good. Nobody else knew where he was.
Yup, he was stupid. Never going out alone.

  • Damaris came home and slipped inside the kitchen to put the cupcakes in the fridge. He'd bought one for everyone as a sign of truce. Food always worked, right?

Only then did he notice the new drawing Melody had posted and suddenly felt guilty somewhat. Yes, maybe...he had been a bit careless. Maybe he should have just apologised instead of not caring. He still thought it wasn't that much of a big deal though. Ryan was all right, wasn't he? Why make such a mess.

Though things could have turned out differently. Whatever. Cakes solved everything! He took just one and found Melody since Veleda was asleep.

"Hey, look. Thought I would get some for all of you. It's chocolate flavoured." He started, as if things were perfectly normal. He sat down and placed the cake in front of her. "Okay okay. I'm sorry for getting Ryan drunk. Won't happen again. All right?"

  • "Its okay. How was lunch?" Melody asked, continuing to read her book. Yes, she was upset. Right now, Damaris being irresponsible and insensitive being her main reason. But she couldnt be upset forever. Or rude for that matter. He was apologizing, even if it was halfhearted. Plus, chocolate. She put the book down and took a bite from the cupcake. She really wasnt one to stay upset for long.

  • "It was all right. Though Natalie seemed like she was in a bit of a hurry, huh. Still, that place has the best pancakes." He replied, happy to have things back to normal. He leaned against the sofa and crossed his arms behind his neck thoughtfully.

"I'm thinking we should visit more places on weekends. There's a lot to discover yet." Then he remembered the flower seeds and blinked, straightening back. "Plus, there's this place I want to show you! Oh, you could bring your sketchbook too. It's beautiful."

  • "Actually. While you were off having fun with Natalie, we kinda talked about leaving. Its not safe here. We got comfortable and forgot we're on the run from people trying to kill us." Melody answered. "But im sure we can visit that place before we leave so dont worry " she added, not really wanted to upset him.

"Speaking of which. Have you seen Ryan on the way back? He's been out for a few hours now"

  • "What, why?" I blurted when she started with her obviously sarcastic tone. "I guess..." I shrugged. That made sense. But it was so much fun here! Why didn't the good things last forever?

He blinked when he came out if his trance, "Ryan? No? I was off for lunch. Didn't see him on my way." God, the dude seriously needed to stop doing that. "You checked the lawn?" He added, since that was where they saw him last.

  • "Yes i checked the lawn. He's not here." Melody answered. "He doesnt usually take this long." She worried. About everything and anything. This was no exception, and as far as she was concerned, a lot of things could happen. What if Ryan had run into Michael again?

  • "I'm sure he's fine, you're always worrying." He started, thinking maybe Ryan decided to get back to his bakery. But that wasn't possible.

"Did you freak out when I disappeared last night? I don't think so." He added, standing up. Well, he was a bit surprised that nobody had freaked out about him though. He informed them later at night but he didn't even get a call before? He didn't expect that but, whatever. It still wasn't fair that he was the only one who was accused of being irresponsible and also not cared for.

"I'll go check the bakery." He said shortly and then remembered Veleda. Maybe she knew?

  • "Ill come with you. " She wasnt about to let him go out alone too. "Lets wake Vella up and tell her" she added, standing up and going in their room. Unsure of how Veleda would react to being woken up, she just kind of gently shook her shoulder hoping it would work.

  • Velda had been sleeping for hours but still shook awake when she was nudged. "Why am I being examined by two nerds?" She mumbled, covering her face with her arms. "Go away..."

"Veleda, do you know where Ryan is?" Damaris prompted without a pause. "He's been out for three hours now."

    "Who the heck is-"

"Punk. We're talking about the redhead."

"Huh? Riiight. Nope. What?" She sat upright. "What happened?" Damaris and Melody standing together after having an argument earlier. This probably meant things were serious. She got up and wore her shoes, quickly getting ready to leave when she was explained. This shiz again? Why did the redhead disappear like this? She remembered the scars and had a sudden realisation. Oh God, no.

She had to find the punkhead before he ran into Micheal.

  • "Yeah he went out for a walk but didnt come back so we were thinking about going to his work to see if he went there but i dont think its a good idea to go out alone anymore" Melody explained. Veleda looked much more alarmed than she was, which could not have been good. Either she knew something they didnt or she was genuinely worried about Ryan. Which was sweet kinda.

  • "Yeah, better if we stick together." Veleda had said before leaving. Now, arriving at Michael's work place after Ryan's and not finding either of them she felt panic start to set it. Where were they both?

"This isn't okay." She shook her head, walking back and forth in the middle of the road. "They're both gone. I knew it!" And then came a string of curses.

"We NEED to find them!" She yelled to no one in particular.

"All right all right! Calm down!" Damaris was worried now too. "I'm gonna ask Nat. She knew Michael, all right? Maybe she knows where he usually goes." He rang her up but no one picked and after the fourth ring her phone was miraculously dead. Natalie was the most sociable girl he had met. Her phone was literally never dead and she always picked up after a single ring. Why didn't she just pick it up the first times?

"It's dead." He scratched his head. What were they going to do now? What place could they possible go? "We haven't checked a lot of places yet. Calm down. I'm sure...We can find him. All right. Let's check the library."

  • "This is weird." Melody said. The library was empty. She tried calling James, but he didn't pick up, and after 4 tries his phone was dead. That never happened. Nobody ever called him, and the few times she had, he immediately answered.

Okay. She was not panicking, not panicking. She called Neira. Same result. Then she had the brilliant idea of actually calling Ryan. Nothing.

"I...Im not saying im panicking, but im pretty close. What do we do? The only places we havent checked are the park and...and thats it. And as much as id hate to be wrong, i sincerely dont think we're gonna find him there."
