  • Feather was a little confused, to say the least.

One day, her top two canine teeth had fallen out. She had brushed it off as a gum disease or something, she could show her housefolk what was wrong if it started to get more serious. But more teeth hadn't fallen out. Instead, her canine teeth began to grow back. This was weird enough, as Feather knew that adult teeth weren't supposed to grow back if you lost them. But there was more. These new fangs were growing longer than any other of her teeth.

These new fangs were long and sharp, almost wolf-like. At this rate, they wouldn't fit in her mouth and would grow past her lip. If that happened, well, she wouldn't be able to hide it from her housefolk. What if they didn't want her? What if they gave her away when they discovered this strange... mutation?

Since this was starting to worry her, maybe another cat would have knowledge on the subject. Or at least know if this was natural. Frankly, this topic was bugging the kittypet, and she couldn't put it off forever. Yeah, asking if other cats knew anything was a bit of a longshot. But it was all she could think of doing.

So, as the silver tabby sat on her fence, she vowed to herself to ask the next cat she saw if he or she knew about anything like this. It would probably lead to quite an awkward conversation, but it was the only solution that the house cat could think of.

(Feather is developing the Sabretooth Fangs power from the official shop. So, what's going on is that she'll eventually get canine teeth like a sabretooth tiger, just in case that was a little confusing. :P)

The post was edited 1 time, last by A Mirror Trick ().

  • Blue, a Maine coon tabby, watches from his yard. "Where are you going Feather? it's not like you to run around, like I." (Blue likes to wander around so he knows his way)

  • Feather sent the cat a smile, and leapt down from her fence. "It's not much, really." The silver tabby mewed a little bashfully. Well, no use beating around the bush. Here went nothing. "By the way, I had a really weird dream last night. You've never heard of cats with teeth like, say, a sabretooth tiger, right? That would just be silly." She gave a nervous chuckle as she spoke, her tail lashing.

  • Blue sat up and licked his right paw. "Oh sabertooth tigers?" he mews awed for a second, stuck in a memory. "When I spent my time out in the woods and city I've heard so many stories! The great cats with teeth the size of my leg!" Blue says excitedly.

  • Her amber eyes widened. Trying to hide her mouth, Feather dipped her head as she spoke. "Could you tell me a little more about these tigers? Please?" She asked, and looked up at Blue. "Also, have you ever heard of normal cats like us growing sabretooth fangs? 'Cause it was a really weird dream, and I want to be sure it can't really happen."

  • Blue stood up, buzzing with excitement. "I've never heard of normal cats getting saber teeth, but ya know, ya never know!" he gives a small chuckle. "So anyway, sabers lived long ago, back when cats like us didn't even exist yet! These were some of the original cats, right up there with tigers. They were big cats, five cats like us would have to be standing on each others shoulders to get as tall as them. And as ya can guess there trademark was there canine teeth, which as I said were as big as my legs." he finished.

  • Feather listened to the other cat with awe. So Sabretooth tigers were ancient, it seemed. While that had been interesting, it hadn't explained much.

Should she show this cat that 'mutation', as she had come to call it? ... she didn't have many close friends to share the secret with, and she would need to tell someone eventually. Feather was terrible with secrets, she couldn't keep one if it would save her life. "Er... I have a bit of a secret to tell you. But you can't tell anyone else ever, okay?"

  • Blue got serious immediately. "Sure," he stammers out. "I will never tell another soul, whatever it is." He sat down.

  • Feather sighed. Well, here went nothing. "One day, my top two canine teeth fell out. They regrew, but not normally. I don't know what happened, but now... er, see?" She opened her mouth, revealing a pair of long, sharp fangs. "Now I look like a sabretooth tiger, or a vampire or something. It's really starting to freak me out, I don't think this is normal..."

  • Red examed the overgrown teeth. "Hmmm, I've never seen anything like this, I'll admit." He flicked his tail, thinking. "I don't think we should have a panic attack now, maybe this could turn out to be a gift...I'm not sure really..." he trailed off.

  • A gift? Feather hadn't thought of it like that. The young housecat had been a little more worried that it would have some sort of effect on her health. But... now that he mentioned it, it was sort of cool. Really, sabertooth fangs? It was like something from a superhero story that you told to little kits. "I guess it could be a gift, depending on your point of view. Now that you mention it... it is sort of cool." The silver tabby smiled and nodded to herself, trying to think. Sure, this 'mutation' had a lot of downsides. But maybe it had an upside too.

  • Blue happen about the shift in the point of view, continued on. "Maybe...Maybe it is just so." he said cryptically.

  • Feather blinked, her smile swiftly replaced by a puzzled expression. "What do you mean by that?" She wondered aloud, glancing back up at the maine coon tabby.

  • The tabby paused and looked at his paws. "I....I.....I...don't know." he meowed at last.

  • "Well, that was confusing." Feather smirked, and gave her new friend a toothy grin. "By the way, you now know my greatest secret, and I don't even know your name. Care to tell me?"

  • "Oh, uh, why yes, of course, I'm Blue Kazoo, but uh everyone just calls me Blue." He laughed. (BTW gtg for the night, bye ;D)

  • (Got it, no problem. :))

"Blue it is, then." Feather returned the laugh, feeling a bit more at ease now. Sure, it was still a bit of a problem that she had vampire fangs or something. And her housefolk probably wouldn't like that very much. But that could come later. For now, she could spend a minute talking with this new friend of hers. "Hope you don't mind being friends with a mutant like me." The kittypet joked lightly.

  • Blue flicked his tail, "A mutant? Your no mutant, you just got some sharp teeth." he meows.

  • "Yeah. Still, gotta wonder how that happened." Feather tilted her head as she tried to think. "I don't think it's natural. If it is, not many cats seem to get it." The silver tabby shook her head, and looked back at Blue. "Anyways. This probably comes a little late, but it's good to meet you."

  • "Nice to meet you too, Feather." The tabby said. "Well I must admit though all my time adventuring I've never seen much like that..." he continued. The tom sat and pondered. "Well we could sit and wait, see how your teeth turn out, or we could find someone who knows more about the matter." he murmured as he stretched, just loud enough for Feather to hear.
