I was strolling along the piers of the Florida beach in my short jean shorts, pink tank top, and my dad's aviator glasses. I had a small hop to my step and I think I should. Summer has just started and I've become an adult! And adult! Thank god! My dad's not breathing down my neck anymore and my annoying sister isn't following me around. I was currently alone, though. It didn't matter, I was having flirting with any guy that stopped me. I had no rules. I was a free person.

I was where everyone expected me to be. Sitting on a bench, reading a book. I loved reading and people called me a bookworm because of it. Excuse me if I like my literature. The sun was high in the sky and the wind was just right. I was currently shirtless because I didn't want to sweat through one of my shirts. I hated doing extra laundry if I didn't have to. My mom told me I could whatever I wanted as long as I get home by 10. That's quite reasonable. I flipped the page and continued to read.

  • I quickly got changed into a green bikini with a thin white shirt and shorts. I smiled as I grabbed my beach towel, flip flops, Ray Bans sunglasses, and phone and ear buds.I quickly ran out the door of my house running down to the beach since I only lived about 3 minutes from it. I was so happy my parents let me do what I wanted this summer, I grinned once I saw the shore. When I found a nice spot I laid my beach towel down and quickly took off my short and t shirt to reveal my bikini, I put on my sunglasses and lied down, putting one ear bud in my ear and listening to my favorite songs.

I decided to get off the piers and walk on the boardwalk. I was hoping to see new people, but u was cool with seeing familiar face. Like that guy, I smiled as I spotted Paul lounging. As I approached him I called out, "Hey, any room on the bench?" By the looks of it, he was sprawled out across it. I had known Paul most of my school life and often talked to him. So, this encounter wouldn't be any different.

  • James walked along the beach, he grabbed a rock and threw it out into the water making it skip. He continued to walk and sat under a tree, James grabbed his notebook and started writing something down.

I rode down the sidewalk on my blue pennyboard, swerving around people and anything that got in my way. I eventually made it to the pier and rode along the wooden surface, staring out at the water. The realization that it was now summer hit me again. Just one more year and I'd be done with school and every single day would be a vacation - until I went to college, that is. I put my foot down and skidded to a hault. I picked up my board and walked up to the railing, staring out at the ocean.

I was sitting at the edge of the beach, watching the gentle tide pull at my feet. I had free time on my hands; I did not have any lessons to teach today. My toenails flexed out of the sand as I turned to dig my fingers into the cool sand. Neither my toenails or fingernails had been painted, even though I thought about it this morning. It seemed too much effort for just an appearance. I pulled out of the sand and stood up. Quite a few people had gathered around, so it was time to go. I proceeded to pull out my iPod and played a Bach symphony, trying to ignore the people.

I closed my book abruptly. For some reason I was bored with this book. It was strange because I never got bored when I read. Never. I pulled open my bag and stuffed it inside with my water and wallet. I pulled the strings and got up off the bench. Slinging the bag over my shoulder, I headed in the direction of the beach.

  • Cora walked down the stairs of her apartment building, adjusting her shorts. She looked down, checking out her outfit. She was wearing a pair of light-blue cutoff shorts, a flowly white tank and her favorite pair of boots. Her stomach grumbled loudly, interrupting her train of thought. Lucky for her, she only lived a few minutes away from the boardwalk. Cora soon arrived at the boardwalk, and stopped at one of the stands to get something to eat. She ran her fingers though her red hair while she waited for her food, squinting slightly in the bright sunlight. "Thanks." She said with a smile as she slid her money over the counter and left to find somewhere to sit and eat.

  • After I got bored from lying down, I stopped my music and put it in my small purse before heading to the water. Once I had my feet in the water my back shivered, I missed the water. I continued walking in the water till it was at my waist, I rested my hands on the waters top, feeling it lap on my palm. As I looked around the beach I saw a few familiar faces from high school.

I trailed along the edges of the boardwalk. Ive lived here my whole life and knew almost every shop owner here. I felt my phone vibrate and pulled it out of my pocket. I had gotten a text. My eyes barriers in confusion. No one ever texts me. I cupped the screen with my hand to see it better, oh, it was just my dad asking where the car was. I texted him back,
    Sorry, Dad, I needed it.

  • Paul slid up, startled, dark sunglasses slipping down his nose as he pulled his bulky frame up. "Uh?! Oh. Right, um, sure." He offered a quick grin, and scooted over. "What's up?"

I grinned widely and plopped down next him, crossing my legs. "Nothing much, I'm just getting used to having no school during this time of day," I giggled. It felt so good to be out of school. "Whatcha up to?"

IC: Uh oh, too many people I reorganize I thought as I turned to leave the beach. It was so lovely this morning when no one was here. Now it's too...crowded. I looked down at my feet and had a sinking feeling. That was right, I came here last night bare-footed. I spur of the moment thing. I ended up staying til' morning, but still didn't have shoes or a ride home. I lived two miles away. Quickly calculating in my head, I mumbled curses. So, a twenty to thirty minute walk in bare feet. Of-freakin'-course.

  • "Uh...Actually, not much. Usual." He shrugged his wide shoulders. "Figured I might go to the arcade later." As Kylie knew, Paul was an incorrigible gamer. Oddly, though, he hated being stuck inside. So, he usually ended up going to arcades on the boardwalk, or he played in really short spurts.

"Cool" I smiled and crossed my arms as I looked around. I was bored, and I really needed someone to hang out with. "Is there any new games or anything? I'm not a gamer but I like to try out the new games."

  • A shrug. I shift my weight a bit, sensing her boredom just in the tone of her voice. Though, I'll admit it sounds like she's trying to be friendly. I wonder why she came over. Isn't there someone else doing something she's more into? Not that I mind, really. Kylie's nice and all. "Er, I dunno. Haven't been over there in a bit. Probably not." I shrug again, and hesitate before leaning forward to haul myself up. "Wanna check it out?"

I internally winced. He knew I was getting bored. Crap, I thought I could it better. Oh well. I perked up at the sound of going to check it out, "Yeah, sure! I haven't been there in a while either. You know, with school and all." I have always tried being nice to Paul. Everybody just seemed to bully him and I hated it. He was actually really nice. People are idiots. She thought to herself as she stood.
