  • [fancypost borderwidth=0px; width: 360px][justify][size=7pt]hey. i know this usually doesn't go here, but be careful. i'm a florida kid. you know that storm that went through and is heading (if not already hitting) toward you guys? yeah. i got it first. let me tell you. never has my city been on the national weather channel. i'm in pensacola. guys. guys. be very careful. my play director dragged us out (none of us were assuming it would be that bad) besides the flash flood advisory and tornado watch. i was supposed to get home at 2145ish. i didn't get home until quarter to midnight, just after the scare of my life.

any streets that are lower or have even the slightest dip? flooded. you go to low into the water and get your sparkplugs wet, you'll get stuck there until god know's how long waiting for them to dry out. three people drowned because they didn't get out of their car and the water got up over the hoods of their cars, trapping them in where they couldn't open the doors while the water got in through cracks. my mom and i almost stalled out at least five times and it took almost two hours to get home. we got over 27 inches of rain, and that isn't even counting what was in the storm drains, which by the way were so flooded out that water wasn't even going in anymore. we were at the last speedbump when water got my mom's sparkplugs wet and stalled out our car. fifteen minutes later the car started up again and we got over the speedbump. we knew that our street was high up and that if we just got past that speedbump we'd be okay.

guys, never since that house was bought in '91 has there been so much water.
we got past the speedbump and stalled out in water that got quickly deeper. the storm drain we were stalled by was gushing water, and it was up to our doors. after five minutes, water was getting in the back door. long story short, i got out and tried to get to my house, but i couldn't because of the lightning and the fact that some of the yards were completely flooded out. long story shortish, my mom thought i'd fallen into the water because she couldn't find me. she ended up finding me, and today the water's gone on our road, but it was one of the most terrifying things in my life. all the water on my street was up to the middle of my thighs.

please please please be careful. god, be careful.

    Oh gosh.
The storm went through Missouri, but it was just under my town/place of residence so that we didn't get it as bad as most, but since it is still heading towards the west, it needs a signal boost.
I would hate for people to be hurt because they didn't see this when it was needed, though hopefully it isn't so bad when it hits, or already hit <3 <3

  • [fancypost borderwidth= 0px; width: 250px;][justify][size=8]ah um
idk if it'll hit me or not i'm northeastern
    but w o w

  • [fancypost borderwidth=0px; width: 360px][justify][size=7pt]that's why i posted this, tikki. none of us thought it would be as bad as it was. that street didn't even flood when we got a direct hit from hurricane ivan. this is a very powerful storm system and i want everyone to be aware.

it depends on how north you are, perfy. it's going as high as north carolina, as far as i know.

  • I'm in Maryland, and we're having a pretty bad storm right now - lots of rain, thunder, and lightning. One of the main streets for a bus route was deemed flooded, and so those kids are either stuck at school for a while or are having to stay at friends in other neighborhoods' houses for the night. In fact, we have classes in portables that are just outside the school, and those were almost cancelled because there's been a flash flood warning issued here. It might be hitting us right now, I'm not sure, but I'm turning on the weather channel now. o.o We literally had to get a ride home from the bus stop with somebody because our street was so full of standing and flowing water that our shoes were full of standing water within a minute or two of being out there. I'm from the northwest, which gets a lot of rain, but I've never seen actual flooding before because the rain is just constant light instead of long and heavy.

I'm in New Jersey and all we've been getting is a whole lot of rain. It's been going on for three days already.
