    once upon a time, there was an evil king. He led his subjects in fear and pain, unicorns, pegasi, and earth ponies alike! He keeps the ponies in cells, but if they behave (or disobey) their living quarters are changed. This takes place before the crystal empire is destroyed and hidden

    They aren't traded around the way you think. They all follow every stallion's command, though they all technically belong to Sombra.
