The five moon old kit sat quietly alone, feeling out of place. For all of his dead kin, none were here. He alone in his family had believed in the Starry world their ancestors inhabited. "I wish I could show them." He moaned, licking a paw. Always alone, always bored. The real reason he was alone was because it was where he wanted to be. The other kits here were mentally older than him or younger than him, and didn't want to play games. And the adults weren't his idea of fun, even though they were very nice and some had even managed to make a friend out of Lorem. He was currently mourning the loss of a StarClan elder he had come to love, despite being from a ProClan. But now, aged and faded away, she was gone. And Lorem was alone. But that was when the idea found him. When he saw Onerepublic in passing. The other StarClan cat went down to visit a living cat, in fact was there most of the time. Why didn't he visit someone! Who? His father was out of the question, maybe his sister? Yes, that would do. "I want to see my sister." Lorem muttered, getting to his paws. When the image of a young feline appeared at his paws, and your grey kitten wandering the halls, he frowned. This wasn't right. This kit was a little younger than him, but his sister would be older by now. "Show me my sister." Lorem demanded, but the image persisted. Who on earth was this? "Show me her past." He commanded, and the clouds swirled obediently at his paws. The last time déjà had been to a kitting, someone had died. two someone's, actually, his mate and his daughter both. a fear rose in his chest as he was deeply afraid the same fate would befall his new mate and kits. sure, he had hardly met this feline, but after nursing her back to health and falling in love with her, he was pretty sure he knew where he stood. and it was firmly on the side of those inside that room. no,,déjà vu simul stamus contra mortem was in fact not a sunclan member, any who lived there would pick him out easily. but he'd been escorted here the day before and he hadn't left the hall way, save once to bring water to hawaiipaw. he'd nearly run himself into the walls trying to get back. if she died, he was going to be there. but she wasn't going to die, is would be just fine. however, sunclan might kick him out first as he was probably going to wear their carpet thin with all of his padding in front of her room. up and down, back and forth. he remembered moons ago, pacing in his room in the wlites home, waiting for his mate to give birth. but when all went silent, he knew the worst. she had died, all had safe once small female, who lived on in arcadianclan with her grandfather. why his kin had picked arcadianclan of all places after living formerly in an anti-clan until their break up, the young tom would never know. he lived with them, of course, but only out of love for his father, nothing more nothing less. he hadn't been in the elite at the time of their break up, but no one liked to talk about it. fine, don't talk. he'd place up and down sunclans halls while his brown fur fell out with worry. and so he waited, while inside the room the mother was giving birth. it was hard, and hawaiipaw was young, never having had kits before. closing her eyes, dark green just like her fathers, hawaiipaw prayed to starclan. she had never truly believed in them before, but her mother had, and she had a feeling she would need all the help she could get with this litter. "please, please, please." she begged. she wanted to see her mother again, and apologize for disappearing on her. she had stopped long enough to say good bye, then she and her brother had slept, soon getting separated in storm. where was alskanpaw now? was he safe? she hoped so. hawaiipaw could hear déjà pacing outside, and she had to smile at the memory of his face when he'd rushed in the day before. how he'd known was beyond her, or maybe he hadn't, but she didn't care at the moment. al, that mattered was the kits. she wanted to tell him to stop worrying, but all that came out was a wail of pain. she hardly noticed déjà coming in to stand by her as two small, grey kittens were born. 'grey?' she wondered faintly. she had rather been hoping they would look like their father. "name them." hawaiipaw meowed faintly, her green eyes struggling to focus on the male as the kits wiggled next to her. he spoke something, loudly she could hear, but what it was she didn't know. the world was already fading to black. That had been four moons ago. Now, the same light grey tabby Lorem was watching was padding down the halls of SunClans mansion, enjoying the day well enough. Americankit was unaware of who she father was, or any possible half siblings or kin, except that Alaskanriches had come to inform them that he was their uncle. That was neat, but all the kin she really needed was her sister, Libertykit. Crouching at the foot of a wall, Amercankit looked up and wiggled her haunches. She was goi to get to that window seal! But it seemed it wasn't to be. As she had many times before, Americankit fell down, brushed herself off and gave her fur a few laps to clean it. She was still to small and the ledge to high for her to reach. Lorem goggled at his half sister below. This cat, Americankit, was his half sister! His own father was Déjà vu Simul Stamus, and Lorem did, of had, carried the Contra name. This was amazing! And just like that, Lorem had chosen his fate and living soul; he couldn't have changed it if he had wanted to. Without another backwards glance into the starry world, Lorem sent his mind back to the earth, falling in shimmering starlight and landing silently and invisibly next to Americankit. "Hello!" He chirped brightly. "Need a paw?" He blinked happily at her for a moment, but she didn't respond. "Need a paw?" He prompted with no further result. She couldn't see him. Disappointed, Lorem tried one more time. "Need a paw?" Americankit sighed as she finished her pelt, raising her head at the sound of a voice. Probably a warrior who wanted something or another, but she would investigate. Getting to her paws, Americankit caught sight of something to her right. "Need a paw?" The voice repeated again, and now Americankit could clearly see him and hear him, but she couldn't reply. A dappled cream and brown tom stood there, beaming at her. Maybe she had hit her head a little when she had fallen, this wasn't possible. He couldn't be there. Americankits reaction of shock was enough for Lorem, and he erupted into a smile. "Hello there Miss Americankit!" He meowed, bright blue eyes twinkling. "Allow me to introduce myself! My name is Lorem!" He glanced at her expectantly, as if expecting a relation to the name, but none came. Oh, but he had forgotten. His father was a stranger to love who wanted to all but bury the past everytime something bad happened, and he hadn't told these kits he was their father. Doubtless Rhea would even remember him, his name would be around anymore. Not letting these thoughts get him down, Lorem addressed Americankit again. "I'll be your new protector and hang around, of that's okay?" For a moment, all Americankit could do was blink as Lorem introduced himself and his title. She wanted to scream, "no!" And rush off for Libertykit, but he looked to ernest she found herself saying, "Um, no that's okay." "Great!" He said, beaming at her. Americankit couldn't help but smile. He seemed nice, but hadn't he just appeared there? "Will you accept me as your protector?" He asked. "Um, yeah. Sure. I accept you as my protector." Americankit meowed, flicking her tail. Libertykit... She thought, trying to reach out to her sister through their telepathic bond, only to find something pushing her back gently. "I'm sorry Americankit, I must speak with your first." Lorem meowed, looking apologetic. "But not here!" Glancing to her left, Americankit heard footfalls padding towards them. "They won't see me." Lorem meowed, taking a step to the side to stand next to Americankit. Sure enough, the SunClan warriors padded right past them without a second glance, not even when Lorem started yelling at them. "Hey, hey you! Fat kitty!" He called, but to Americankit horror as he bounced at towards them. "Stop it!" She hissed. "Quite!" Lorem spun around to face her, his blue eyes suddenly full of warning. The warriors stopped and looked at Americankit. "What?" One asked, peering at her. "Nothing." The grey kitten meowed innocently, smiling at them. "I just said 'that's it!' I remembered what I wanted to tell my sister." The warriors gave a shrug and padded off, leaving a stunned Americankit alone with an invisible Lorem. The tom winced as Americankit glared at him. "What was that about?" She demanded. "Shh!" He hurried to hush her, glancing around. He hadn't actually thought it this far through. Somehow he thought she would know what was going on and be willing to listen to him, and they'd have a great time together. But this was new for both of them, and it wasn't the case. And so, if Americankit started randomly talking to herself, bad things were bound to happen. "Follow me." He urged, padded away towards one of the empty rooms near by and slipping inside. To his relief, after a moment Americankit followed him inside. "Let me explain..." Lotem meowed, seating himself and Americankit did likewise. He explained about his father, and that he was dead though he didn't state the cause. He explained about his family, and StarClan and finely, leaving to find her. But he made no mention of how they were related. When he finished, the two sat in silence for a long time. "So, you're a StarClan cat who has come to live with me," Americankit clarified. "But only I can see and hear you?" "Right." Lotem confirmed. "Are you, okay with that?" He asked nervously, unaware that they couldn't turn back now even if both had wanted to. "Yeah, actually, that sounds pretty cool." Lorem was sure this was the beginning of a beautiful friendship. 1,830 words [/fancypost] |
