In the year 2093, nearly all of humanity was wiped out by the Desolation War. Our planet was rendered unlivable by the weapons of mass destruction used to end the war.
In an effort to save humanity, what was left of the world's population banded together and looked to the stars.
In the year 3001, humanity went to the stars. Few people remained on Earth as hundreds of spacecraft shot skyward, leaving the planet behind. Many of the spacecraft were later combined to form space stations for the people to live in. During exploration of our moon's orbit, two interconnected rings known as the Ark was discovered.
The Ark had presumably been a government project to create a life-sustaining, artificial ecosystem in space. Though the massive structure had begun construction before the Desolation War, the technology in it was far more advanced than anything from that time. Construction of the Ark was continued and it technology was reverse-engineered.
Twenty years later, in 3021, construction of the Ark was completed, adding two more rings to the massive structure. By the next year, the Ark's technology had created a livable environment on the rings. Many people began to talk of exploration to find a new home for humanity. Though the majority of the population remained skeptical, the New Crusade was enacted and additions were made to the Ark, giving it mobility.
Now, ten years later, the Ark has left our solar system and entered the vast emptiness of space, exploring every planet and moon along the way.
