For centuries, dragon-kind and humans lived alongside each other, each race aiding the other. But an unknown virus infected many dragons, turning them feral and driving them against the human race. The humans took up arms and declared war against dragon-kind. Many other dragons blamed the humans for the virus and fought against them.
This was the beginning of a century-long war known as the Beast War.
The factions fought against each other, turning the tables again and again and driving both races nearly to extinction.
Caught in the crossfire, a few dragons and humans who pushed aside the war struggled in vain to live in peace until finally being forced to fight back.
These few humans became the first of the Dragon Riders. Soon, more dragons and humans teamed up to defend their homes and ways of life from the war.
With the dragons' breath attacks, claws, and horns in combination with the humans' weapons and armor, the Dragon Riders quickly earned a name for themselves, striking fear into man and dragon alike. They were deemed monsters on the field of battle and terrors in the sky.
But near the closing of the Beast War, the humans created a dreaded weapon, one that cut tear through dragon, beast, or rider with the greatest of ease.
This weapon, known as the Dragonred, won the humans many important victories and forced the dragons into hiding. But the humans were relentless in their hatred for the other race and hunted the dragons down, killing them without mercy and without remorse.
And now, seeing that there will be no stop to the slaughter of their people, the dragons go to the Dragon Riders for aid against the humans.
The Dragon Riders agree to help in the fight against the humans, realizing that the humans wouldn't stop with just the dragons who attacked them. The two united factions gained a few victories but were vastly outnumbered.
In this final attempt to stop the slaughter, both dragon and man prepare for one final battle. One last stand to determine the fate of both races.
