She stroked the back of his head. “Sometimes.... it’s easiest and best to forget,” she said. That was what she had had to do with her siblings. So many memories, but now too sad to remember. Her mind blocked them out as though she had missed a couple years of her life.

He stiffened as he felt her fingers on the back of his head, slowly the tension faded away. He blinked as he felt something he hadn't in years, touching his face with his hand, he pulled it away to find it wet. He could have laughed at it all, he'd kept himself so locked and chained up, now this one woman was unraveling it all, and he couldn't care less.
-
She saw his tears and hugged him tight like she would a sibling or a close friend. “Shhh shhh. It’s okay. It’ll be our secret, alright? I won’t tell the others.”
-
It took him a moment to register what was going on, but he tentatively returned the hug. "Thanks, I needed that, I guess." He managed a small smile, his voice cracked slightly.
-
She chuckled and boped his nose with hers. “Come on. Food will cheer you up, no doubt.”
-
He gently laid his hand on her cheek, "Thank you, I haven't been able to tell anyone that." He murmured.
-
She felt his hand on her cheek. This was a much different person than who had threatened her and cut her hair earlier.
-
Quickly, he retracted his hand, "I'm sorry, that was.... bad of me to do that." He said quietly, no longer meeting her gaze.
-
She gave a small laugh. “it’s alright. It’s been a long time since anyone even bothered trying to woo me.”
-
"Woo you- I'm not trying to.. ugh..." He tried to remain indignant, though there was a scarlet flush that had crept up his neck.
-
“Didn’t say you were,” she told him with a chuckle. “Just said stuff like that hasn’t happened for quite a while.”
She turned. “Well? Dinner?” she asked -
"Hope you like your veggies, 'cause that's all we have." He said, trying to hide the flush that was on his neck, he didn't need the crew in on it as well.
-
“Of course. I’m not a picky eater,” she told him
-
"That's good, at least there's one other person who won't complain." He said, chuckling softly.
-
She shrugged and went off to what she thought was the equivalent of the gallery on the other ship where everyone ate.
-
"This'll be fun, announcing to the crew that she's staying with us, just amazing." He muttered to himself as he followed after her.
-
Karmin walked into the gallery and followed her nose to the big pots of food. She picked up two bowls for herself and the captain.
-
The cook passed her a sly grin, "Private dining with the captain, I see." "Oh, lay off it Jon." Hans said, whacking the cook on the back of the head.
-
Karmin frowned. She sighed though. It was his crew.
-
"Sorry about that, they're a rowdy bunch." He told her quietly. He took his bowl out of her hands, "Thanks for getting the bowl."
