  • She stroked the back of his head. “Sometimes.... it’s easiest and best to forget,” she said. That was what she had had to do with her siblings. So many memories, but now too sad to remember. Her mind blocked them out as though she had missed a couple years of her life.

  • He stiffened as he felt her fingers on the back of his head, slowly the tension faded away. He blinked as he felt something he hadn't in years, touching his face with his hand, he pulled it away to find it wet. He could have laughed at it all, he'd kept himself so locked and chained up, now this one woman was unraveling it all, and he couldn't care less.

  • She saw his tears and hugged him tight like she would a sibling or a close friend. “Shhh shhh. It’s okay. It’ll be our secret, alright? I won’t tell the others.”

  • She chuckled and boped his nose with hers. “Come on. Food will cheer you up, no doubt.”

  • She felt his hand on her cheek. This was a much different person than who had threatened her and cut her hair earlier.

  • She gave a small laugh. “it’s alright. It’s been a long time since anyone even bothered trying to woo me.”

  • “Didn’t say you were,” she told him with a chuckle. “Just said stuff like that hasn’t happened for quite a while.”
She turned. “Well? Dinner?” she asked

  • “Of course. I’m not a picky eater,” she told him

  • She shrugged and went off to what she thought was the equivalent of the gallery on the other ship where everyone ate.

  • Karmin walked into the gallery and followed her nose to the big pots of food. She picked up two bowls for herself and the captain.

  • Karmin frowned. She sighed though. It was his crew.
