[fancypost bgcolor=transparent; bordercolor=transparent; overflow: auto; height: 250px; width: 260px;]I smiled as the rain fell from the overcast, clouded sky. "Here comes the rain again, falling on my head like a memory, falling on my head like a new emotion," I whispered, just to myself. I reached out to catch a few, and I got but two. I held the raindrop in my hand for just a minute, the let it slide off of the palm of my hand. I put my hood on to avoid my hair from getting soaked, not like the raincoat was helping the rest of me. I stuck my umbrella out and opened it up. I positioned it above my head, so that it would catch the rain by surprise, letting it drip off of the umbrella's edges. What I found so intriguing about the rain was how pure it stayed, never infected by other influences. Unlike society today. They lost their pureness when their ancestors' genes were altered. Humanity was damaged. Divergents, people like me, are considered dangerous to the welfare of the factional system. I can't believe the government, the people who are supposed to respect us, could have invaded our DNA to try and make it perfect. Why try when nobody's entirely perfect? I'm surprised Chicago still lasts...
People may be jealous of Divergents, because they don't have any altered genes from their past family. We are, apparently, rare. We are immune to serums, and are aware that simulations aren't real. We can control them; resist them. That's why we're so feared. People are so afraid that we'll overthrow them, so they try and control us; define us. We cannot be categorized into one particular, specific faction. Therefore, we belong nowhere. We would be factionless... If we weren't Divergent.
The downside is that we must keep all Divergence a secret. If exposed, we would be in great danger of Divergent killers, such as the one Jeanine Matthews. Except that she's dead now. She had some lackeys, one I know of: Caleb Prior, brother (and traitor) to the great Beatrice "Tris" Prior. I look up to her as my role model. She was amazing until the day of her death. That I know for sure.
