Hawkpath padded to the fresh-kill pile and picked out a plump vole. It was a hard day, patrolling and hunting. She had caught 3 pieces of prey, and the borders were quiet... for now. She sttled down to eat.

Thunderclaw padded up with a mouse in his mouth. "I hear you had good hunting today. I couldn't find much." He flicked his tail to the mouse.
-
Hawkpath's gaze flicked to Thunderclaw. "Where did you hunt? The hunting was best my the lake. That's where I went."
-
GrouseFeather padded inside, her dashing blue eyes meeting the other cats'. She gave a smile, picking a small mouse out of the pile. GrouseFeather settled down at last, shuffling snow flurries into the brisk air. She sat there, picking at her meal.
-
Hawkpath looked at Grousefeather. "Hey."
-
GrouseFeather gave a smile, and continued picking at her meal.
-
Hawkpath looked at the mouse. "How was your hunting or patrolling today?"
-
"It was ok," She said distractedly.
Suddenly and randomly, she asked, "Do you know how to raise a kit?" -
Hawkpath stopped with her mouth in an O shape, shocked. The memories of the tom she was still seeing came back. "Um... Uh... No, really... I want to know how too..," she stuttered.
-
GrouseFeather smiled, "Ok." She was very strange, after asking a bizarre and personal question, just went back to munching on her mouse.
"You see," she started happily.
"I was just given a kit!" -
Hawkpath jumped. "What do you mean? Someone gave it to you?"
-
"Yup," she said without looking up.
-
Hawkpath blinked. "Who?" linked. "You don't have to answer if you don't want to," she added.
-
"A loner named Snow came into snowclan territory. She had four kits and gave me one," she said happily.
-
Hawkpath grinned. "Well, congratulations! What's it's name? She-cat or tom?"
-
Sandclaw sniffed the air. Something's not right, She thought. The musty tang of the mountains floated in the breeze, but another scent tainted her toungue. Could it be? All of the sudden, a pale fawn-colored tuft of fur buffeted into her side. "Hey! Watch where you're-" She snapped, cut off when she saw the pale eyes of Sedgekit.
"Sorry," Sedgekit mewed, lowering her head a bit. She didn't mean to run into the young warrior! "I shouldn't have been so clumsy. I was trying to get to the fresh-kill pile, when I thought I could smell it your way." I'm so reckless, She told herself, holding back her emotions. "Wait," Sandclaw mewed. "You didn't see me right in front of you?" Sedgekit shook her head. Why was the she-cat sounding so worried? What's there to be worried about me? I'm just a kit, Sedgekit wondered.
"Sedgekit, I think you're blind." -
Hearing this commotion, GrouseFeather ran close to the cats. She looked at sedgekit closely.
"Are you sure?" She asked the warrior. -
Sandclaw nodded, silent as if she were hunting. But I can't be blind! I can't be, Sedgekit thought, her tail bushed out. "How could I be blind!" She wailed. "I can see everything right here!" She flicked her tail at Grousefeather. Then at Sandclaw.
The young warrior sighed. "Sedgekit," She started. "I know it's hard to take in, but you cannot see us. You only smell us, and think you can see us in front of you." The pale fawn she-kit looked as if a ShadowClan warrior had threatened to take over the whole of SnowClan.
As Sandclaw spoke, Sedgekit imagined the she-cat's eyes looking as if struck by lightning. She could hear paws shuffling on the ground. She could smell Grousefeather and Sandclaw next to her. For StarClan's sake, she could sense the two cats right there!
"It's not fair!" Sedgekit cried, in a mix of anger and horror. "It's not fair that I'm blind! Why me, of all cats?"
Because you are not just any cat here. You can be just as powerful as all the warriors.
Sedgekit stiffened as the strange voice mewed. Wh-what was that? I swear something spoke to me, She thought, bewildered.
I will see you... Very soon... -
GrouseFeather looked calmly at the kit while meowing,
"Have some fresh kill, we can talk about training later.
How does that sound, Sandclaw?" -
Sandclaw's ear twitched. "Maybe it would be best if I just went to have a quick sleep. Padding towards the warrior's den, the she-cat glanced back at Sedgekit, who was trudging towards the nursery/elder's den.
