"What do you mean? Why are the-" But Aeron Nikalie knew why: Athena had killed at least three people now, and that was way worse than just merely scratching them as Nikkie had done.

Lowering her eyes, she muttered, "You should at least eat, give them a challenge." She wouldn't say anything encouraging, that wasn't like her, she wasn't one to give inspirational speeches, she rarely liked to talk at all. If you give up now, they've already taken your life... She didn't speak her thoughts, and nothing about her gave them away, but she realized how she had been following that simple combination of words for the past half-week or so.

She hadn't stopped, she'd sacrificed a lot of her health for this simple cross-country travel, and even if Athena was killed, of course she would feel bad that she wasn't able to help, but she wouldn't stop. To Nikkie, giving up was like telling the enemy that they had won; even if there is just a dying flicker in you that says you can keep fighting, that you can stand up and look them in the eye, no matter how terrified you are, then * it, you were to stand up and face off the foe until your dying breath.

  • Athena gave her a hard stare as her horrid past flickered in her eyes
She had been forced to give birth to undeveloped cubs and watched them die around 3-4 times. She had almost been killed during birth for being born prematurely. She had been beaten with sticks, hands and the barrel of a gun. She didn't want Nikalie to experience this. "Alright, Ghostcat.." She said taking an unsteady bite of the rabbit.

Watching the albino mountain lion eat the rabbit, Aeron Nikalie finally stood from her place by the entrance, misted with shadows, and stretched. Her wound still hurt, as it had less than five minutes ago, but at least it wasn't fresh. Since it was a couple days old, and she was used to the dull sting of it, she barely felt it any longer. "As soon as you're finished with that, we can head either along the mountain, or up, it depends on which direction you want to go."

Their scent was almost desperate, their fear was almost laughable, but their words he could not understand right now considering he was far away. The creature had black forelegs and chest, a face colouration that resembled a badger, but his back was tawny-gold and speckled in the mismatch patterning like that of a hyena. His tail was bushy and silvery-gold; all in all, he was a strange sight.

Lot 'Nightmare' Severinus, who had taken the form of an NPC polecat, was sitting up on his haunches like a meerkat, who weren't really distant cousins to this species, but could be if he delved deep enough into his ancestral lines. Putting his tiny paws, adorned with black and powerful daggers that could break open walnuts or pinecones with a single swipe, back to the ground, he darted across the mountain side and sniffed curiously at the entrance to the den. Being on top of the den, he could see the top of the puma and the lynx's head, and smiled a little bit. He could not speak 'cat' in this form, but he understood it well enough; they were talking about humans coming around and leaving.

Deciding that he'd rather lead them than be within them, accidentally become attached to them, he rolled his small speckled shoulders and barked at them. They wouldn't be able to understand 'polecat' since he wasn't a cat, he was a ferret, but he had said, "Come with me if you wish to live." If they knew who he was, they would head the other way, but then again, they had never met him, and he wasn't famous yet.

With that, the she-lynx with a gunshot wound bounded after the orange catastrophe of nature, only hearing its chittering laughter as she bounded up the mountain after it.

It was highly agile, it could do twists and turns in mid-air when it leaped from a rock to a ledge, and when its paws once slipped on a ledge, it easily pulled itself over it to continue its dart uphill. The polecat was swift, as well, very much faster than she, and was fast, if not considering that she had her leg to worry about...

  • Athena had hidden herself where the polecat was hiding. She leapt out and grabbed it. "I caught Spunky Breakfast!" She yowled happily as the polecat wriggled in her grasp.

Hunters. Close.

"Put him down, Athena. We don't have time for games." Aeron mewed, turning her back. The polecat didn't seem to be so confident now, but it wasn't giving too much thought into struggling, it was actually just hanging in her jaws, his eyes narrowed as if he was annoyed.

[fancypost bgcolor=transparent; bordercolor=transparent; width: 380px; overflow: auto; padding: 4px; font: 10px georgia; color: black; text-align: justify;]The polecat glanced at the puma and skittered away. Ducking into a log, he disappeared from sight, and then a human's voice yowled from below them. The polecat heard the lynx yell something, something along the lines of 'it doesn't matter', and then the sound of her uneven steps darting away from the log.

Snorting with indignation, he wondered what could have possibly have gone through his mind to approach two obviously semi-hungry predators and then tease them into a full-on chase. Shaking his head, he turned and slipped out of the log and darted, mostly unseen, along the mountain, towards the humans.
