"Just don't shoot the messenger, okay?" Lizzy begged, before biting her lip for emphasis and continuing. "In gym, we went outside to play the game. It's the last day we're going outside because of the weather getting colder. We played a game where there were teams of two versus two, and I was paired with Katelynne. We talked, I introduced myself, but I didn't mention you. I didn't know how she'd feel about another girl talking about her boyfriend. I know I would be uncomfortable with it. But then she asked me if I had seen any guys I thought were cute. I really haven't, so I said that I hadn't. I was truthful. And she started telling me about how the school was full of hot guys and how she wished she could have them all. She literally said that. And I remembered you, but again, I didn't want to mention you. So I asked her if she was single. And she said yes. And she kept talking about a few guys in the gym class who she thought were really hot. And then-" She stopped, her hands twisting at each other as she gulped. She then looked directly in his eyes. "She left the school, actually left the school, in her car, when gym class was over. With another guy. Said something about how she had plans to have fun with him. And to not expect to see her again that day." Lizzy sighed then, adjusting her weight to her other foot. "At first I didn't want to tell you, because it isn't my place to get involved. But then I realized how nice you've been to me since I first got here, and how you deserve to know, and I had to tell you. I consider you a friend, Callum, and for me to not tell you something this big, something you deserve to know, isn't friend-like on my part. I feel I'd be being a bad friend if I didn't tell you this. I'm so sorry."

Callum, after hearing the news, froze, his jaw slack. "No... No, Katelynn wouldn't do that..." He said, his voice quiet, expression confused. Katelynn... She wouldn't do that. Not after what had happened only two nights ago. She wasn't like that, right? He hadn't been played. He wasn't that gullible... "I'll..." He had begun to say something but trailed off, suddenly forgetting what it was he had been just about to say. "Thanks for telling me." He wasn't sure what to feel right then -- Angry? Sad? -- or what to believe; he definitely wasn't sure if Lizzy was telling the truth.OOC:

Lizzy nodded. "I'm really sorry, again," she said softly. "I'm guessing you want to be alone, so I'll find the cafeteria. I know where it is. I'll see you there?" she asked softly, unsure how to react around him right now.

"Yeah, I'll see you in the lunch room..." Callum told her, offering her a thin smile as he stood there, mulling over the information he'd just been given. When Lizzy was out of sight he would make sure to pull out his phone and try to contact Katelynn. He would text her, call her, as many times as he needed to for her to respond. That was the most reasonable approach, right? And if she didn't respond, well, he wouldn't know what to do next.OOC:

[color=black]Katelynne had finally calmed down, no longer held under the control of chest-heaving sobs. She was currently staring at the engraving on her mother's stone, rereading the words in her head. I wish you were here, Mama. Something tells me you'd know what to do. Sighing, she leaned her head against the stone, silent tears pouring down her cheeks.
-
Lizzy made her way towards the cafeteria and to the table in the back. She was the first one there, so she set her bag down on her seat and went to stand in the lunch line.
-
[color=black]Tyler made his way into the cafeteria and set his stuff down at the table before getting into the lunch line, behind Lizzy. He didn't know about all that had happened between her and his cousin in gym, but had wondered what had happened to Katelynne when he couldn't find her after coming out of the locker room. He turned to look back at the table and saw Ryan and Cindy sitting down. A few moments later, they joined him. "Hey, have you guys seen Katelynne since last period?"
Ryan shook his head. "No, she came in late with you, haven't seen her at all." When he noticed Lizzy in front of Tyler, he smiled. "Hey, Lizzy, how's your day going so far?"
Cindy only glared at Lizzy, untrusting of the new girl. Pulling her phone out of her pocket, she texted Katelynne. When did you get to school?
Katelynne felt her phone vibrating in her pocket and pulled it out, but when she saw it was only a text from Cindy, she put it back into her pocket. She didn't feel like talking to anybody at the moment.
-
Lizzy gave Ryan a friendly smile and shrugged. "It's been okay. And Katelynne left school last period. With a guy. Who, um, wasn't Callum. During gym class, she was telling me about how she was single and how she found a lot of the guys in this school attractive. And then she left the school with some guy. Said she was planning on having fun with him, and to not expect her back today."
-
[color=black]Cindy listened to what Lizzy said, and when she was done, her crystal blue eyes narrowed. "You're lying! Katelynne would never do something like that! I'm sure she's here somewhere."
Tyler shuffled his feet. "Actually, Lizzy may or may not be telling the truth. As much as I don't want to think Katelynne would do something like that, she did just randomly disappear from gym class. I had just been talking to her when we first got there, and when I came out of the locker room changed to participate, Katelynne was gone. As well as her bookbag."
Ryan remained silent. "But she told me she loved Callum. So why would she do something like that?"
Cindy glared at Lizzy for a few moments more before turning to her brothers. "Do you actually believe her right now?" she asked angrily.
Immediately Tyler's eyes narrowed. "The only reason why you're siding with Katelynne is because you know she's still pissed at you and you're sucking up. Otherwise, you'd probably be the first to believe it."
Cindy had nothing else to say after that, knowing Tyler was right.
Ryan's eyes suddenly narrowed. "Callum doesn't deserve that. I'm so mad at Katelynne right now."
"Same," Tyler murmured.
"Perhaps we should go look outside and see if the Cobalt is gone?" Cindy suggested quietly.
Ryan nodded. "I'll be right back." He slipped out of the line and quickly walked out of sight. It was a few awkward minutes of silence before he returned, slightly panting. "The Cobalt is gone," he reported, a hint of sadness and anger in his voice.
Tyler sighed. "Maybe we should go tell Callum this. He probably doesn't even believe Lizzy and is trying to contact Katelynne right now. He shouldn't be hurt any further than he already has been."
Ryan nodded. "Let's go find him, then." The three left the lunch line and walked out of the cafeteria, searching the halls for Callum, with Lizzy right behind them.
-
As Lizzy followed Cindy, Ryan, and Tyler to find Callum, she couldn't help but inwardly gloat. This was all going too well. At this rate, she'd have turned everyone against Katelynne, and if Katelynne tried to tell them what Lizzy had told Katelynne about Callum saying he was single, Lizzy would just accuse her of lying and trying to make her look bad when Katelynne was the bad one. If everything went as good as it was going now, Lizzy would soon be the new Katelynne. And it was only Lizzy's first day, not even half over yet.
-
Ryan looked back at Lizzy out of the corner of his eye and saw her smiling. And that's when he knew this was all a lie. Everything Cindy had said had made sense. He stopped and turned to face her. "You're lying, aren't you?"
-
Lizzy halted. For a split second she was shocked. How did he know? But her five years worth of acting lessons kicked in and her eyes widened as her gaze remained on his. "W-why would I lie about something as serious as this? Especially on my first day? Not that I would, again, ever lie about something like this. But it's my first day! And you guys have been nothing but nice to me since I got here! I'm just trying to make friends! Not enemies! I can't make friends by lying." For extra effect, her gaze then flickered to Tyler, to Cindy, then back to Ryan. "None of you believe me, do you?" And now, cue three month's training for one specific thing! On command, her eyes brimmed with tears. "I've made a lot of mistakes in my life, but I've always took pride in the fact that I'm not a liar. I'm trying to help good people, people I already consider friends, from being hurt. And you accuse me of lying? Tyler noticed her absence, her car is gone! Isn't that proof enough? Isn't it possible you don't know your cousin as well as you thought you did?"
-
[color=black]"Honestly, just cut the waterworks. Now. They've never worked on me. And Katelynne is basically my sister. She's been living with my family since she was a year old. So, yeah, I think I know her better than that." He rubbed the back of his head with his hand and sighed, trying not to lose his temper. "Honestly, I think the best thing right now is for you to go do whatever it is you do right now and let us talk to Callum on our own."

Callum was still leaning against the wall where Lizzy had stopped him, staring at his phone screen. He'd been torn between texting Katelynn and trying to get in contact with her, and just leaving her alone. If Lizzy was telling the truth, she'd be too busy to reply anyway, right? He let out an frustrated, desperate breath and let his head fall back onto the wall behind him, his eyelids falling shut. Finally, he lifted his head and began a text to Katelynn. It was a simple, Katelynn, where are you? But the way she would answer, or not answer, would mean everything to him.OOC:

[color=black]Katelynne let out a frustrated sigh when her phone vribated again. Why couldn't she just be left alone? But when she pulled out her phone and saw a text from Callum, her body froze. She read the message and scoffed, finally reacting, and put her phone back in her pocket, ignoring it. Why does he care? I would think he's too busy flirting with Lizzy to even notice my absence. After a few minutes she sighed and gave in, pulling out her phone and typing a reply. Somewhere I can think things through. I have a lot on my mind right now and I kind of want to be left alone. Please.
Ryan, Cindy, and Tyler all approached Callum once they found him in the hallway. "Have you heard from Katelynne at all?" Ryan asked.

Callum looked at the group whom had approached him as he was reading Katelynn's text, and nodded. "She just messaged me... Said she wanted to be left alone to think." He mumbled, his eyes scanning back over the words she'd sent him. He sighed and leaned his head back against the wall. "Where's Lizzy?" He questioned when he realized she wasn't with the three of them.OOC:

[color=black]"I told her to go away and let us talk to you. Because I don't really believe her," Ryan replied. "Granted, the signs all point to what Lizzy said to be true. Katelynne's car is gone, Tyler didn't see her at all in gym class. And now she basically admitted she left. So I don't know what else to think."
"I still say Lizzy said something to Katelynne. She was totally flirting with Callum ever since this morning, doing nothing but staring and flirting. She's probably gone and lied to Katelynne to get her out of the way!" Cindy exclaimed, throwing her hands up in the air.
Tyler bit his lip as he thought, then began to speak. "When she wants to be alone and needs somewhere to think, she usually goes to the cemetery where her parents are. But it's four hours away."
Cindy began to walk in the direction of the cafeteria. "Do what you all wish to. As for me, I'm getting Lizzy to confess to whatever she said to Katelynne."
-
Lizzy had been sitting by herself at the table in the cafeteria, playing on her phone. The sound of footsteps made her look up and she smiled at Cindy. "Hey, did you guys talk to Callum?" she asked.
-
[color=black]"Okay, Lizzy, you can cut the friendly act s**t, that's pissing me off," Cindy replied as she sat down across from the girl. "Now, I'm going to say this as nicely as I can. I know you were flirting with Callum this morning. That much was obvious. What's also obvious is the fact that Callum told you Katelynne was his girlfriend, which is why you've hated her before even meeting her. I don't know what exactly it is you said to Katelynne, but I promise you one thing. If you don't tell me what exactly it is you said to Katelynne, and why you lied to Callum about what she did today, the only way you will be leaving this school at the end of the day is on a stretcher, being loaded into the back of an ambulance," Cindy threatened in a low, steady voice. Her pale, crystal blue eyes were glued to Lizzy's eyes, with a wide, unwavering stare. Her face suddenly broke out into a dazzling, friendly smile that oozed venom. "So, let's have a little session of story time. You can tell me the tale of your first conversation with Katelynne. And I can see Katelynne later and see what little details you leave out. So you may as well spill it all now."
-
Lizzy knew Cindy had figured it out. So she grinned, with a hint of malice tinting the edges. "You're right, I did say something to Katelynne. Her precious Callum did something really, really, heartbreaking. And it wasn't very hard to get Katelynne to believe it. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say she's been seriously hurt in past relationships, if she's so willing to believe what I told her. All she's used to is pain and heartbreak. Anyways, I told her what I told her to get her out of the way, get her mad at Callum so she wouldn't really want to talk to him. Then I went to Callum and told him what I told him, something ten times worse than what I told Katelynne that Callum did. So that he would be upset with her. And I could be there for him. And make him like me. I told you all what I told Callum to try to make you side against Katelynne. Obviously that part didn't work. But how do you know Katelynne didn't really do what I said she did? What if she did that as payback to what she thought Callum did? Payback to what I told her Callum did."
