Dmitri lay still for a little while, breathing deeply, but eventually got up and made his way to the kitchen, where he stood rather awkwardly in the doorway. "Thank you for waking me up," he said softly, shifting his weight from one foot to the other. "I- I probably was having a nightmare...even if I don't remember any of what I dreamt last night."

Abigail glanced over her shoulder with a soft smile "D-don't mention it, it was nothing, really" she blinked and continued to watch the food cook. "I um, I was going to the forest today to chop some wood for the fireplace, but could you bring in the half-logs in and toss them inside?" She asked "there's not much, so it shouldn't be too heavy"
-
Dmitri nodded, quickly making his way outside so he could find and gather the half-logs she spoke of. He didn't quite want to admit it, but he hadn't done something like pile wood for a while, and he wasn't sure whether what she called not too heavy would really be so for him. Nevertheless, out he went, searching until he found what he assumed she must be speaking of. He was about to pick up three of the half-logs before he couldn't hold any more, and was about to go back in when he realized that the door had closed. He doubted he would be able to reach out and turn the knob without dropping the wood, so he lightly kicked the door, hoping that she would realize that he couldn't quite let himself back in.
-
Abigail heard a knock, rather a kick, at the door and smiled, strolling over. Opening the door, she greeted the man with the wood, holding the door open until he successfully made it inside. "Here, you can toss one in the fireplace and then do as you like until breakfast is ready" she smiled and returned to the kitchen.
-
He nodded, setting down the wood and throwing one of the half-logs into the fire. "Is there nothing else I can do to help?" Dmitri asked, tilting his head slightly to the side. He wasn't quite sure whether he was staying with Abigail to help her or if he was going out to the streets to play his violin, but either way he wanted to be useful.
-
"Not that I can think of right now, Dmitri" Abigail explained after a moment and ran a hand through her hair. "I appreciate your help, I really do" She smiled turning to look at the man before glancing over as Eric came inside the kitchen. "Good morning Eric, how did you sleep?" She asked, greeting her brother with a hug.
"Pretty good! Tucker and Ryouta slept with me last night so I was really warm" Eric grinned
"Good, good, how about you go outside and play with Ryouta? Tucker's already comfy beside the fire" Abigail smiled and turned back to Dmitri when her brother went outside. "Are you going to town to play your violin today? You should eat before you go" she blinked.
-
He tilted his head slightly to the side. "Am I? I was not really certain. You had said something last night about having me stay here today, to help you and learn what it is that you and your brother do. Is that still your intention? If it is not, I can go into town to play, but I...I do not want to upset any plans that you have."
-
Abigail nodded "Yep! We're going hunting. I wasn't sure if you were still interested. Still though, if you're still interested in coming, we can go after breakfast" She smiled and continued to cook. "Breakfast is almost ready, so don't worry about it" She blinked and flashed Dmitri a smile.
-
He nodded, running one hand through his hair. "There is...just one more thing, I think. Is there a place in your home where I might wash myself? I do rather need to. I- I would not be long—I could finish before breakfast—so it would not use up much water..."
-
Abigail blinked before nodding yeah..The restroom is down the hall and to the left. There's a linen closet inside with towels and wash cloths and s bar of soap in the shower" she explained with a soft smile to the man.
-
"Thank you very much," he said softly. "I- I don't suppose you would have anything that I can change into? My clothes, they are...in need of washing, I think, and while I can certainly continue to wear these until I can get back into my aunt's house, I would very much like, I think, to have them clean." His face was rather red by the end of this, and his gaze had dropped to the floor.
-
Abigail blinked as the man spoke and gave a tiny nod. "Sure, I'll see what I can find" She smiled and bit her lip as she brushed off her clothes. "If I can't find anything, where is your aunt's house? I can go get your clothes from there if you want." She offered softly, running a hand through her long hair with a light blush on her cheeks.
-
"Well, it's where you found me the first time you invited me to come over, during the storm," Dmitri said. "I- I do not remember the street address very well—the name of the street is strange and long and starts with an 'h'. But it is near the marketplace, two blocks west of a Baptist church, and has a broken window on the top floor, if that is any help." He rubbed the back of his neck rather awkwardly, feeling a bit embarrassed by his ignorance.
-
Abigail shook her head "No, no! I remember so don't worry about it." She said quickly with a smile, biting her lip lightly. "I will be back soon, what would you like for dinner? May as well grab some food from the market since it's close by" She shrugged lightly and glanced down as the cat purred and rubbed against Dmitri's leg. A smile came to her lips. "You two have a sweet bond" She giggled softly, her eyes closing as she laughed.
-
"I- I have no preference. Besides, I- I am an intruder in your house. It would not be right for me to tell you what I want you to buy." Dmitri stooped down, scooping up the cat. "I will wait for your return, then, before I wash," he said quietly, taking a step backward. "Is there anything that I might do while you are gone? Something which would help?"
-
"You've done plenty. I can't thank you enough for your help. So, just relax" Abigail grinned and ran a hand through her hair. "You're no intruder, you're my guest. Do you have a favorite food?" She asked with a tiny smile. "Tonight we'll celebrate our friendship, Dmitri."
-
"I...I very much like pirozhki," he admitted rather quietly. "But I am not certain that you know of them, or how to make them. Perhaps, if you are certain there is enough money, we can go to buy food together? That way, even if I do not know what everything is called in this language, I am still able to help find the right ingredients."
-
"Pirozhki?" Abigail repeated and nodded lightly. "Yeah, I think it'd be best if you came with me" she smiled excitedly and nodded to the kitchen. "And when we get back, you can help me cook it. So I don't mess anything up. It sounds delicious, and I'd hate to ruin it by burning it." She sighed and pulled on her coat. "Eric! Dmitri and I are leaving! We'll be back soon!" She called and gently took Dmitri's hand, bringing him outside and heading towards town, releasing his hand after a while.
-
He hurried along after her, doing his best to keep up. "It- it is not a main course or anything...something like what would be called an appetizer, maybe? Or a side dish?" Dmitri shrugged. "But thank you for- for letting me make them regardless."
-
"An appetizer huh? Alright. Is there a specific dish that is good with Pirozhki?" Abigail asked curiously as she slowed so Dmitri could catch up, a soft laugh escaping her lips. "Pasta maybe? Or some sort of meat?" She suggested softly and put a finger to her lips in deep thought. Pirozhki didn't sound too appealing...at least the name didn't, but it was what Dmitri wanted, and he was her guest. Besides, she might even come to like it.
