Luumas was aware of Kaleb behind her jumping at the sound. One of her dark-colored ears flicked, then flattened back against her head as she tried to focus on the words she was reading, but she couldn't help but wonder about that boy sitting not far from her. He had noticed her when she was trying to be a shadow, which was not something that happened often.

Usually some would notice her, then forget about her easily, but he clearly remembered her from when he first laid eyes on her not long before.

Kaleb gently closed his book, setting it onto the pile of books. He didn't feel like reading, which didn't happen often. He was a major bookworm, but he just...didn't feel like it. He sighed and pulled his glasses off, rubbing his eyes tiredly. He looked much younger without his glasses, maybe passing for...16, when he was actually 20.

Her ear perked at the sound of him closing his book. She let out another soft huff, slumping down in her seat like a pouty little kid and hiding her face with the book she was reading. She thrummed her fingers lightly on the cover, biting a lip, trying not to look back at Kaleb to see if he was looking at her. She didn't know why she was even interested in him. She just... Was.

Kaleb sighed and stood up, gathering his courage. He slipped his glasses back on. He squared off his shoulders and held his head up, trying to look confident. He walked over to the darker part of the library where the blue-haired girl was sitting. The teenager pulled out a chair at the same table as the girl and plopped down, opening his book that he had brought with him and continued reading. Outside, he looked calm and inviting, on the inside...not so calm. More like silently crying and freaking out like the shy guy he was.

She peeked out from behind her book, looking him over for about a minute. She then looked back at the pages, flipping to the next one. "You know... It is not healthy to wear a mask." Her voice was so soft, sweet, and smooth. It had a silvery edge to it, giving it a slight ring like a bell. Her beautiful, clear eyes flicked across the page, scanning over the words carefully. Her ears were perked up, patiently awaiting for him to say something in reply.

Kaleb looked up from his book, his lavender eyes widening just the slightest behind his glasses. "Alright...I'm silently freaking out. I'm not used to being so close to somebody I've never met before." He replied softly, closing his book and resting his arms on the table tiredly. Kaleb was pretty shy around people that he didn't know...

There was silence for a couple of minutes as she read quietly, going through a couple of pages before quietly closing her book and resting it on the table. Her gaze flicked over to meet his, shimmering with curiosity. "You want something from me?" She questioned curiously as she leaned backwards in her chair once more, balancing it on it's back two legs.

"Your friendship." The boy stated bluntly. He was honest, that was something. He felt a blush rising to his cheeks, and he mentally battled to keep it hidden. Why was he getting so flustered? He never was this weird around people, just kind of weird...

His phrase seemed to surprise her so much she fell backwards, landing harshly on the ground with a loud crash. She let out a yep of surprise and pain, laying half on the floor and half on the chair for a second before forcing herself to two legs, wincing. "F-Friendship?" She stammered, eyes wide and a look on her face that said it was more than just surprise. It were almost as if she was trying to learn a new word, or anyone would have easily believed that from the way she was acting.

Kaleb looked startled as she fell over and he almost nearly knocked over the table from jumping. "Yes, your friendship." He stated clearly, tilting his head slightly to the side. It's like the girl had never heard the word, and if she had never heard the word...does that mean she had never had a friend before? Everyone deserves a good friend!

Luumas leaned against the table, quite unsteady and stunned. She opened her mouth a couple of times as if about to speak, then wound of closing it. Finally, she could get the words out of her mouth. "You want to be my friend?" She asked in a quite voice, bending down to pick up her hat, which had fluttered to the floor. She placed it delicately back on top of her head. "I... I have never really had a... Friend..." She murmured.

Kaleb nodded. "You seem very interesting. I like your hat, by the way." He complimented softly, a small grin spreading across his features. The boy pushed his glasses up onto his nose once again. They fall WAY too easily.

"Thank you." She said after a pause, nodding her head lightly. "Maybe... Maybe a friend wouldn't be so bad... What do friends do, exactly?" She picked up the chair, setting it upright before seating herself, running her fingers through her long blue hair. Both of her cat ears were pinned back against her head.

"Well...friends hang out together, talk...uhm, hang out some more. And, they know a lot about eachother, especially if they're best friends." Kaleb explained, resting his head in his hands. This girl made him confused, yet it was nice to have a girl to talke to. Boys could get...very annoying sometimrs.

Luumas nodded her head slowly, so many thoughts racing through her mind. I'm actually making a friend? I never thought I would be able to be social... "So, we just need to hang out?" She asked curiously, an ear flicking against her head. "My name is Luumas." She held out a hand rather awkwardly for him to shake.

"Yep! My name is Kaleb, nice to meet you, Luumas." The boy smiled, taking her hand and shaking it gently. His heart lfuttered whenever he made contact with her hand. Already sparking a crush, aren't you Kaleb...? He asked himself, mentally rolling his eyes.

  •

Luumas gave him a small smile, nodding her head simply. "Nice to meet you." She said quietly, as if unsure it was the right thing to say. "I hope I can be a good friend to you. People usually tend not to like me that much... Or notice me." Her voice lowered down to almost a whisper as the beginning of the second sentence came from her mouth.

  • _ K A L E B _ L U K E _ S H E P H E R D _
"It's okay. I'm pretty overlooked, as well, so don't think you're alone." The boy replied, giving her a soft smile. He was telling the truth, he was mainly just too ordinary to be anything special, really. Most people were normal, but they had qualities about them that made them unique, for example, Luumas's ears and personality. He hadn't found what made him special yet.

  •

She gazed at him for a second, then leaned forwards, reaching a hand out towards his face. She gently removed his glasses from his face, holding them for a second as she looked over his face. She then just sat his glasses gently down on the table beside them, sitting back in her seat. "Sorry... I just wanted to see your eyes. They're really pretty." She said quietly, glancing down at the ground, then looking back up at him.

Kaleb's cheeks turned a dark scarlet, blinking nervously. "T-thank you." He stuttered quietly, his face a bright tomato hue. He got flustered very easily, as she could probably tell by now. It was very easy to get him embarrassed.
