• Sootskies eyed Silvershadow, wondering which cat would make the call. The ebony feline shot her a friendly glance, before reverting her eyes back to her paws. The lithe feline was a few fox-lengths away, preferring to stay as far away from Stripetail as she could in the tight-knit patrol. She silently hoped that Silvershadow would join the patrol and keep her company in the rear, but another side of her wished to stay alone.

Isn't it 3 sentences at least because this is semi-advanced?

  • OOC: sorry I was on mobile.
IC: Acornstream sighed. She decided that she spoiled have to forget Shadowstar. One way or another.

  • Lionfang's eyes widened as Silvershadow appeared at his paws.
"Shadowstar asked me to organize the patrol, he is looking for you, he seemed really ticked off....he also seemed worried" Lionfang meowed.
"I suppose" Lionfang chuckled with a smirk as he turned to the rest of the patrol.
"Ok, we'll split up, Pepperstep and Stripedtail, go north-west and Sootskies, Silvershadow and I will go north-east" Lionfang meowed "Is that ok with everyone?".

  • Sootskies stood a bit taller, shouldering her way to the front and standing beside Lionfang. "Fine with me." she meowed, lightheartedly. Sootskies directed her vision toward the north-east, her cranium shifting along with it. Toward that direction was a nice area where the ebony feline usually found frogs. The she-cat narrowed her icy orbs imagining the acquired taste of frog in her jaws.

  • "Worried? That mouse-brain knows better than to worry about me. I'm a warrior, after all, not some clumsy apprentice," Silvershadow proclaimed, taking on a defiant stance. Aside from the fact that she was no longer an apprentice, however, it was hard to find any truth to her statement, given the entrance that she had made.

Silvershadow's honeyed gaze brightened some when Lionfang gave her the good to go. She was relieved not to have to return to camp at that moment. She would have to face Shadowstar eventually, of course. But there was nothing wrong with giving him a few hours or so to forget about their little dispute earlier. As unlikely as it was that he would actually excuse the fact that she had practically cast aside her responsibilities, she tried to convince herself that he wouldn't be so hard on her if she returned to camp carrying a mouthful of prey that was actually edible.

"Lead the way," she murmured, nodding in acknowledgement towards her companions.

Pepperedstep gave a curt nod at Lionfang's order. Without a moment of hesitation, he broke away from the group and headed in the direction that his clanmate had appointed, not pausing to check if Stripedtail was following suit. He strode at a brisk pace, almost at a gallop. Bits of twigs and leaves crunched noisily beneath his paws; however, he wasn't particularly worried about scaring off prey, seeing as it wasn't very scarce at this time of the season. As he raced through the forest, he didn't bother to slow down and wait for Stripedtail, didn't bother to look back at him or call out to him. This was a hunting patrol, after all--not a social call.

  • Lionfang chuckled at his deputy as he led the two cats north-east.
"I know, but at least he cares" Lionfang meowed until he went silent as the scent of a rabbit enters his nose.
He crouches in tall grass and slowly creeps up to it. A giant claw snaps its neck as Lionfang pounced on it.
He takes the nice plump rabbit into his jaws and buries it so he can retrieve it later.

  • Sootskies fell into place behind the two felines once again. She trailed a tail length away before speaking up, "I'm heading toward the river." the ebony feline meowed, lifting her tall frame higher, before padding ahead at a speedy pace. Sootskies enjoyed the fresh-air now that she was actually out of the clan again. Solitude seemed to be the most comfortable thing for her at the moment. The tall warrior spotted the river up ahead, as she broke into a run. The feline's slender body rippled as she headed full force, the wind whipping through her fur.

  • Stripetail gave Silvershadow a quick, reassuring grin before dashing off after Pepperedstep. The deputy had seemed quite worried after all. Slightly disappointed at being separated from Sootskies and having to delay his apology until later, Stripetail found that he could easily keep pace with Pepperedstep. Although he decided to let the older tom lead, after all Stripetail had no idea where to look for prey. Most of it seemed to be hiding away. The noise he was making crunching leaves under his foot as he ran did nothing to help the situation either.

    .....

Shadowstar scowled to himself. Silvershadow still had not come back and he had to finish organizing the rest of the patrols and take care of the rest of the deputy duties while she had been away. Remembering her from her apprentice days, he supposed she had seen a fox and gone prancing off into the forest with it. He gave his pelt a quick shake as if to get the deputy off his mind. Shadowstar's clear green gaze shot around camp, making sure everything was in order. "Acornstream." He meowed, his tone was neither not friendly not cold, it was professional. It was how he spoke to his warriors. "Do you have nothing to do?" He inquired after seeing the she-cat slink around camp.

  • Sootskies walked slowly, padding along the bank. Her slender exterior slid across the sandy dirt mix. The croak of at least 3 frogs echoed in her ear drums. The feline lifted her cranium and craned her neck to get a better view of the area. It wasn't long before she spotted a good sized frog croaking in a more muddy area. It was halfway submerged in mud and facing the shore. Sootskies thanked Starclan that it was warm out, she would actually prefer a dip. The young warrior waded into the current, lifting her bristled tail above the surface. The ebony feline pushed her tail breaking the waters' surface, before sliding the rest of her frame under water. Only her head stayed above as she crept up onto the frog. Creeping out of the water, Sootskies used her lightning fast reflexes to strike out one claw just catching the frog's leg. The young warrior stretched out, sinking her teeth into the frog's throat, quickly killing it off.

  • "Nicely done Sootskies!" Lionfang cheered as he came out from the bushes with a squirrel in his jaws.
He buried is quickly and padded towards the waters edge, watching little fish swim through the slow current.
A shimmer caught Lionfang's eye and noticed that it was a bigger fish that could actually fill a tummy of a cat.
He slowly crept along the edge of the water to get closer to his prey.
With one big swipe of his giant paw, he flung the fish out of the water and quickly sunk his teeth into it.

  • Sootskies had emerged onto the surface, raking sand over the frog. The feline watched the warrior catch a fish swiftly, envying his large paws. The ebony feline's were only the size of an apprentices, but it fit her tall and slender appearance. Sootskies slunk around to his left side, eying the current. She paused, ignoring some of the silvery slivers that were too small. When she was an apprentice about two moons ago she had learned an effective trick. Always aim lower than the shimmer, because water plays tricks on the eyes. Sootskies' indigo orbs locked onto the target of a smaller fish, but it'd fill an apprentice or small warrior, so the feline decided to take it. Lashing her claw in the feline knocked the fish out of the water, sending a spray of water on to herself and everything -- or everyone around her. It didn't matter much though, Sootskies was already drenched from her earlier dip. Quickly springing onto her target, the ebony feline lowered her cranium and swiftly dispatched the fish, scraping sand over it. Sootskies sighed, realizing she had forgotten to thank the larger but not taller tom for his compliment. Oh well, she'd thank him next time. The lithe warrior shook out her pelt, sending yet another spray around, before cockily strutting back up to the water. She made the mistake of looking over though, and casting a shadow, quickly frightening all the fish. "Foxdung." she uttered, her concentration dwindling along with her confidence swimming away like the vanishing fish.

  • Silvershadow flicked her tail at Lionfang's comment, considering his words. She was somewhat surprise that Shadowstar still had the capacity to worry about her, considering how much she'd probably irritated him. Then again, it was his job to worry about everyone--or pretend to, at the least. She shrugged off the thought, her gaze latching onto a small, furry bundle of grey fur that crawled out of a small niche in the ground. Swiping her tongue in anticipation, she launched forward without hesitation. Although her tactic wasn't quite as composed as it could have been, she was upon the rabbit before it had time to realize what was happening. The creature squirmed beneath her paws for a few moments, then went limp as she delivered the killing blow. Satisfied with her catch, she lifted it in her jaws and padded in the direction that her companions had gone, dragging along the rabbit like a proud apprentice might on their first successful hunt.

It was with a feeling of exasperation that Silvershadow realized where the others were hunting. As she neared, the other two coming into view, a wave of nausea swept over her, and she scrunched up her nose as if in disgust, staring at the rippling surface of the water with a look of unease. For the second time that day, she found herself back at the river. What had once been her favorite spot to visit as a young apprentice now made her feel sick to the stomach just from looking at it. The taste of fish still lingered on her tongue, and she was reminded once more of how much she hated it, despite her knack for snatching it out of the water.

"You guys go on. I...think I'll go try another spot. I've seen enough fish today to last a lifetime," she mumbled around her kill. And tasted, she almost added, but resisted doing so for fear of sounding unappreciative. With that, she turned and headed back the way they had come, away from the riverbank and into the thick of the forest.

Pepperedstep continued to race through the forest, not having slowed down once. He had initially planned on stopping and searching for prey once he and Stripetail had reached the densest part of the forest, where it was bound to be more bountiful; however, along the way, he had picked up a peculiar scent. It was a completely foreign smell, and though it wasn't very strong, the foulness of it almost stung his nose. Pepperedstep wasn't the curious type, but such a strange scent needed to be investigated. So, he continued to follow it, charging through the brush until he neared the border of the forest, slowing to a stop only when the trees began to thin and the long stretch of grass beyond came into view. He then turned to acknowledge Stripetail for the first time since the journey had begun.

    "Stop."

He walked slowly now, peering through the trees and out into the grassy field beyond. After a few moments, he crept forward a few steps, whiskers twitching. His amber eyes, like crescent suns, narrowed into thin slivers, surveying the plains. He could see nothing but tall, swaying grass, stretching on for what appeared to be miles. The sun, although it was barely past midday, had begun to dip considerably low in the sky, rapidly nearing the horizon. Everything seemed quite serene. But something was...off. Pepperedstep let out a low growl, watchful gaze prowling across the fields.

    "Do you smell that, Stripetail?"

  • Lionfang gave a puzzled look as he watched the deputy go into another direction but shrugged it off as he continued watching the water.

  • Shadowstar internally seethed at the Acornstream's tone, keeping his calm on the surface, "Well why don't you go and help Cypressleaf collect herbs?" he suggested, remembering that the medicine cat had seemed tired the last time he had spoken to her. Without waiting for a response, and used to being listened to, Shadowstar padded past her to the nursery. "Hawkkit?" he called softly, his eyes slowly adjusting to the dim lighting.

    ...

Stripetail had to resist the urge to flop on the ground and catch his breath, his sides were heaving heavily from all the running with Pepperedstep. The old tomcat wasn't as rusty as he looked. Attempting to tread softly after the other tom he was acutely aware of his loud panting disturbing the quite scene before him. After his finally caught his breath Stripetail obeyed Pepperedstep opening his jaws to taste the air...there was nothing.

"I don't smell anything." he replied honestly, after attempting to figure out what had bothered the tom cat enough to acknowledge him for the first time since they had left the rest of the cats. "Are you sure you smell something? It might be the river, fish smell. It sometimes wafts over here when there's a breeze."

  • ........ You haven't even been replying in 3 or more sentances. Have you even had muse???

Sootskies placed her hindquarters atop the sand, her indigo orbs swiveling toward Lionfang. She wondered why Silvershadow has rejected hunting by the river, but she didn't pry. Silvershadow was gone in seconds, unlike the fishy taste in her mouth. Sootskies had a large and barbaric apetite. The feline would devour anything and everything offered to her besides bugs or rabbits. Sootskies favorites were frogs, voles, sparrows, crabs, and squirrels.
