  • Owlflight slowly raised her head up, blinking her bright amber eyes open sleepily. At the time the amber orbs were clouded with exhaustion, taking away the usual bright glimmer they had used to have. "Here we go..." She muttered silently under her breath, shaking her head roughly to try and wake herself up before pulling herself away from him, standing up straight and tall with her head raised high.

She was worried about what Petalfall would say. What if she hadn't known all along? What if she decides to spill Owlflight's secret to the rest of the clan so that she can keep her kits? She shook her head lightly again to try and get rid of her troubling thoughts, beginning to stride towards the camp entrance. She didn't have much of a choice.

  • Serpentstrike lightly nudged her after seeing how troubling her efforts were. "Almost there, Owlflight. Just a bit longer."

The black tom continued to guide her in the right direction until they finally reached the medicine den. The two received some strange glances from other clanmates; perhaps they were surprised to see the state that courageous Owlflight was in. Serpentstrike peered inside to see Petalfall tending to a wounded apprentice, dropping the squirrel next to her.

"Our hunting patrol was cut short on account of Owlflight's condition. There's something we need to tell you."

  • ((Who should play Petalfall? =3))

Owlflight nodded her head slowly, gaze flickering to the wounded apprentice, trying to see if the little cat was wounded or not. "Are they okay?" Asked Owlflight curiously, back to using the gruff voice she usually spoke in. She didn't want to risk having a chatty apprentice hear what she had to say.

She pawed at the ground kind of nervously, gaze resting on the ground in front of her. She was exhausted, all of her bones ached, every part of her body. Her paws hurt and she was pretty sure her pads were close to bleeding from being dragged along the forest floor too much. It kind of brightened her up knowing that she wasn't going to have to suffer anymore, though.

  • (We can both play her if you'd like. :))

The little apprentice didn't reply, as he was in far too much pain. Petalfall finished wrapping cobwebs along the cream-pointed tom's leg, tightly but gently.

"He'll be fine within a moon or two," Petalfall mewed bluntly, although her voice was sweet and calm. "What is it you need to talk about?"

Serpentstrike shot a glance at Owlflight before replying, "There's something we need to tell you, but you must promise to keep it a secret."

  • ((Okay! x3))

Owlflight nodded her head nervously, glancing around. "Do you know if there is anywhere in your den, or the camp, where we can talk? I don't want anyone hearing." Her dull amber eyes landed on the apprentice, who was sinking his claws into the moss and clenching his jaw to try and forget about the pain, but really couldn't. Owlflight wanted to suggest giving him Poppy Seeds, but held her tongue. She wasn't the medicine cat. Petalfall was, and knew what was right.

"I think the back of my den should be fine." The long-furred she replied, motioning towards the room at the back. The place she had chosen had two nests, and was huddled far in the back between the entrance to the herb storage and the small opening to her part of the den, which was blocked from view by a lichen screen.

  • Serpentstrike followed, curling up in one of the nests. He glanced over at the exasperated Owlflight before turning his attention to Petalfall.

"Petalfall, there's something we need to tell you," he exhaled deeply before continuing. "Well... Owlflight and I had this crazy thing happen to us one night and, well... We've run into a few problems."

The solid black tom turned her head to see the flame-pointed apprentice pricking his ears toward the conversation, so he leaned towards Petalfall to whisper--

"You see... Owlflight is pregnant... With our kits."

(I'm sorry this is so late! :'()

  • ((Oh, it's fine. x3))

The medicine cat didn't seem really that surprised by this. She merely nodded her head, a small frown placing itself on her muzzle. "I never thought Owlflight would run into this problem. I was refusing to believe it when I saw her hobbling about, but it must be true. I'm glad you came to me instead of acting on your own." She replied in a hushed voice, shooting a quick glare at the nosy apprentice. "Keep your nose out of business that is not yours or I will put you on tick duty for a whole moon when you are better!" She called over to the apprentice.

She lifted a paw carefully after watching the apprentice quickly turn away, ears flattened against ehir head. She paused a moment, eyeing Owlflight carefully, then reached it forwards between her front legs and set it gently on her swollen belly. She almost immediately pulled it away after Owlflight gave a surprised squeak, jerking away. "Yep, she's definitely pregnant." She announced in the same hushed tone she was using before.

She climbed to her paws, motioning with her tail for Owlflight to lay down as she turned to enter the herb storage. "Just rest for now. Later I will come back and check to see how many kits you are going to have, if you want to know." She glanced over her shoulder, watching through slightly narrowed eyes as Owlflight curled up inside of the soft nest.

Then a mischievous smirk planted itself on her muzzle as her eyes flicked over to Serpentstrike. "I never would have guessed you swung that way." She giggled, winking slyly at him. "Chasing after such a big 'male' like Owlflight. Many of the shes would envy you." She let out another giggle, quickly disappearing into the herb storage before he could respond.

  • Serpentstrike frowned, flicking his ear in annoyance before whisking his head to face the other direction. The hefty tom felt completely embarrassed, a feeling that he didn't know too well. He forced his fur to lie flat. After all, Petalfall was only joking about the matter, not making fun of him.

He swung his head to face Owlflight, who appeared as if she was drifting off into sleep. He felt a sharp pain in his heart as he gazed at her. What was this feeling? No, it wasn't embarrassment... It was guilt. It felt as if it was eating away at him, making him weaker by the minute. Sure, he had made a great mistake, but he had to face the outcome. He assumed that it had to be painful to carry a litter of kits around everywhere, and was at least thankful that it wasn't him that had to do so. Either way, he was going to work hard for the next few moons.

"So, uh, I'd also like to speak with you about a plan that we have decided on," the tom whisper-yelled after a long pause, "We were wondering it you'd play along."

(I know this might seem kind of early, but should we start designing the kits?)

  • Owlflight was aware of Serpentstrike gazing down at her as she drifted off to sleep, but decided to push it off. If he wanted to talk with her he could wake her up anytime. She was already deep asleep by the time he called out for Petalfall, light snores coming from her. They were quiet enough to not bother anyone that was sleeping, and rather cute.

Petalfall's head popped out of the storage at his call, ears perked. "Plans?" She asked curiously. She flicked the tip of her tail in a way of telling him to wait a second a she hobbled over to the apprentice on three legs. One of her front paws was held up, a couple of little seeds on her soft pads. She ordered the apprentice quietly to eat them, and after watching them lap them up turned and trotted slowly back over, letting out a soft sigh.

Her fluffy tail swished across the ground as she seated herself, gazing up at him with white, bright green eyes. "Go ahead. I am willing to help."

  • "Okay, so I was thinking at perhaps we could first tell the Clan that Owlflight was missing, but in a way that wouldn't cause too much alarm. Maybe we could send a few patrols in the wrong direction to ensure that they don't find her. While the Clan is wondering where Owlflight is, we'll set up a den farther away from camp and have Owlflight stay there until she's birthed her kits and feels strong enough to go back to her duties once more. Before we head back, we'll have Owlflight mix some of her blood and the blood of prey together to make her look like she's fought hard, and the kits will be messy as well. You and I can head back to camp and tell everyone that she had been held captive by the rogues and helped a few stray kits along the way. Does that sound good?" Serpentstrike explained, later raising his ears to hear what the long-furred medicine cat had to say.

  • Petalfall sat silent for a minute or so, thinking everything over carefully. Her whiskers twitched thoughtfully, tail-tip tapping against her paws gently. Finally she shrugged, a small smile tugging at the corners of her maw. "Seems fine with me. I don't really see any flaws in it." She purred, glancing down at the sleeping Owlflight.

"Have you told anyone else? I think in order for everything to go smoothly a couple of the warriors need to know the secret, as well. You need to make sure they are warriors that will not tell a single soul, though." The she had suddenly grown serious once again. She glanced back up at Serpentstrike, eyes bright and vibrant. "Owlflight's life is perfect the way it is, or was. If you care for her and truly feel bad about letting this happen, you would want to make sure this goes without fault. I am sure she does not want to lose the life and respect she has right now."

  • "O-of course," Serpentstrike nodded, glancing at Owlflight, then back at Petalfall. "I think Owlflight should choose who to tell, as she has a bigger part in this than I do. Should we wake her?"

The dark-pelted tom looked over at the sleeping tabby once more, a flicker of sympathy sparkling in his eyes. Although he merely knew Owlflight before the incident, he felt this strange, fuzzy feeling towards the she-cat that left him smiling. Even though the two were expecting kits, they weren't particularly close. Serpentstrike didn't have the best judgement, but he knew that Owlflight probably didn't like him that way. After all, it wasn't like she chose to have kits with him.

  • ((How many should she have? x3))

"She has never really been close with anyone in the clan, you know. She keeps her distance. We can ask her about it when she wakes up herself, but for now I think it's best we just brainstorm and leave her asleep. She's been working herself too hard. There's a big chance that one of her kits might die." She let out a soft sigh, raising a paw and gently running it over the tabby's flank.

"Would... Would you like to know how many she is to have? You are the father, after all." Her tufted ears perked as her gaze flicked back up to him, eyes wide and sparkling with curiosity.

  • (How about 2 or 3? Also, can we use real genetics on them? For some reason, I find genetics really interesting, and it just makes characters more realistic. :))

  • ((Real genetics would be interesting! =3 And what about she can have three, but one dies at birth, so she is left with two?))

  • (Sounds good to me! You could design one, and I could design the other! Could you just give me a list of her traits, along with littermates, her parents, and possibly another generation back? I'll do the same, too.)

Serpentstrike's face lit up as Petalfall's words echoed in his ears. "S-sure, I'd love to."

He padded over to the sleeping she-cat, lying down next to her respectfully for a few moments before rising to his paws. "I'm ready."

  • ((Oh, she's not really a real character. I made up this thread for fun, but if you want I can come up with something. =3 How many of her traits would you like to know about?))

Petalfall nodded her head slowly, tail swishing across the ground a couple of times as she eyed the two for a moment. She had to admit, they were a rather cute couple, even with Owlflight's manly looks.

She took a deep breath, lifting her paw carefully before resting it on the she's flank once more. She felt around her swollen stomach for a minute or so, careful not to wake the sleeping she, before removing her paw slowly and carefully.

"I can feel three kits so far."

  • (I wasn't expecting this cat to be a main character of yours, as Serpentstrike isn't a main of mine, either. If you could just come up with a bloodline, that would be great! And just a heads up, the coat colors red, brown, and black are dominant, and the coat colors blue, cream, and gray are recessive. White isn't either recessive or dominant, as it is just a 'mask' of the cat's true coat color. The tabby pattern is highly dominant, whereas tortoiseshell is recessive. Also, yellow and green eyes are dominant whereas blue, amber, and orange are recessive.)

Serpentstrike's jaws gaped. What a big litter of kits! He certainly wasn't expecting there to be so many. But then again, more kits meant more trouble.

"Wow, I wonder what Owlflight will say when she hears this," the black tom breathed, unable to believe the news he had just received.
