  • Feather held a mischievous smile and gleam in her eye as she padded down the still snowy sidewalks, an energetic bounce in her step. She had important things to do today, and by 'important things to do' she meant 'pranking the local housecats'. What else would she be doing? Her tricks were almost never successful, the young kittypet was no mastermind. Still, it have her a thrill like no other to try.

She jumped onto a fence and peered into the yard of a random house, amber eyes silently scanning as they searched for her first victim of the day. "Hellooooo?" The silver tabby cat called, trying to find another cat or two. Remember what Saber taught you, Feather. Maybe you can finally do a trick right this time! The thought made her heart beat even harder.

Jasmine stumbled clumsily after a bird, her short legs tripping over themselves once in a while. The white kitten jumped as high as her stubby paws could get her and she landed rather ungracefully on her belly. She watched disappointingly as the bird flew away happily. Now that she wasn't preoccupied with the butterfly, Jasmine turned her attention to the silver tabby that had hopped up onto the fence.

Alarmed, Jasmine scrambled behind a bush in the yard, remembering all the stories about the wild cats that lived on their own. Once Jasmine was certain the she-cat wouldn't harm her she cautiously approached, her collar jingling at the movement, "H-Hello? Who are you?" she mewed uncertainly.

  • At the sound of a voice, Feather's face went alight. "Heya!" The young cat cheered. She was only seven, maybe eight months, but she was still a fair bit taller than the kitten. ... Speaking of the kitten, looked like she had scared the poor thing. Oops. The kittypet forced a smile and tried not to sound scary. If only she had groomed her fur this morning, she sort of looked like an alleycat right now...

"My name's Feather." The silver tabby explained as she dropped off the fence and into the grassy yard, a lopsided smile on her face. The bell on her dull purple collar softly jingled as she took a few steps toward Jasmine. "I won't hurt you or anything; I'm just visiting the block." She explained, purposefully keeping the reason she was visiting hidden. She still planned on playing some pranks, but on a scared kitten? That would be like kicking a sleeping puppy. Feather felt obliged to at least let her know she wasn't dangerous before she tried anything too mean.

Jasmine eyed Feather curiously, cautiously padding up to the larger cat. She tilted her head and gazed at her with an intrigued expression,"I'm Jasmine," The kitten mewed softly. Jasmine nervously scuffled with the grass at her paws, perhaps she overreacted? But her mama always said not to trust a cat you didn't know, collar or not. She pricked her ears at what Feather was saying, of course she was just sightseeing. "Oh," Jasmine breathed softly, chiding herself for jumping to conclusions, "Is your house near here?" She asked, giving Feather a shy smile.

  • A look of contemplation crossed the feline's face at Jasmine's question. "Well, er, I actually live pretty far away. The house I live in is a bit less fancy then what you guys have here." Feather answered, the words coming out much more bluntly than she had intended. Well, oops, again. She inwardly winced at her own tone of voice, and decided to change the subject. She would hope it just sailed over the kitten's head.

"Um, anyways. Do you like tricks, Jasmine?" A slightly forced grin once more spread across the young tabby's face. "If you wanted, how about we go play some? If there's someone who's been mean to you, maybe I could help." Feather suggested, her expression bright as she spoke. She was conveniently leaving out the fact that she was originally targeting Jasmine herself, but that was hardly relevant, right?

Jasmine flicked her ear, Feather seemed touchy on that subject. How strange. She lightly shook her head, and directed her attention at Feather who was most likely unaware of the inner argument going on in Jasmine's head. "Tricks?" Jasmine echoed excitedly, "Like magic tricks? My owner would do silly things like that, they're always so fun!" She squeaked, at first Jasmine thought Feather had an odd expression on her face but she quickly got distracted in a way only a young kit can when the talk of something entertaining entered the conversation.

"What kind of game?" Jasmine eagerly asked, kneading impatiently at the grass beneath her paws. She didn't think anyone's been mean to her as of late. There was the occasional grouchy neighbor but that was about it. "Well.." Jasmine began hesitantly, "I don't really get out much, but, there's this really old grumpy cat that lives next door." She scrunched up her face as she considered whether it was worth it. "He always chases me out of his garden, I didn't even do anything! I swear!" Jasmine gave her best innocent expression to Feather. It's not like she was the one who took all of the cranky tom's catnip.

  • The innocent expression on the young cat's face couldn't help but draw a childish giggle from Feather. "Aw, don't worry, I believe you." She assured her in a half-teasing manner. Even if Jasmine had done something to get him mad, well, he was probably a big old grump anyways. The tabby cat knew far too many grumpy old timers; the world just seemed to be overflowing with them. The kind that seemed to have lost their wits along with their youth. They always had the best reactions... she could almost visualize it now. Stupid young'uns! Get off my yaaaaaard!

Her chuckles died down as she tried to explain her pranks. "Well, we're going to put on a magic trick of sorts. A magic trick set up against another cat, so stuff jumps out at him or something. Um, we won't hurt him or anything, so you don't have to worry." She mewed hurriedly. She didn't want the kitten to think she was doing anything bad, even if she might have been acting a bit mean-spiritedly. "At most, he'll get a little scared. So it's perfectly safe, I promise." ... Well, most of the time it was perfectly safe. Feather flashed the kitten a winning smile, almost as if she was trying to sell something. "So, what do you say we show that guy what he gets for being mean?"

Jasmine allowed one victorious smirk for herself, believing she fooled Feather with the innocent facade. The cranky tom had it coming, Mama always said that sharing is caring and he wouldn't share his catnip. Her eyes widened at the word 'magic', this was going to be fun. The fluffy white kitten smiled eagerly, her ears pricked with interest, "How's it going to happen?" She asked with an energetic mew, many questions whizzed through her mind. How will it work? When will it happen? Who's going to do it? How will he react? That'll teach him to share next time! Wait, when does the old grump come out of his house? What abo-

Jasmine's whiskers twitched irritably as her kitten-brain failed to comprehend the amount of questions that came and went in her head. The snowy kitten eventually settled on one, "When are we going to do it?" She mewed fervently, animatedly bouncing on her paws with anticipation shining in her eyes.

  • (Ack, ditto over here! We just got report cards over where I am, so things have been pretty hectic.)

The silver tabby echoed Jasmine's smirk; success. The little kitten seemed as excited at the concept of playing tricks as she was. Having an assistant could be useful for what was to come. Well, Feather still hadn't worked out the details, but she just knew that this was going to be good. As her brain whirled with prank ideas, she answered the question directed at her almost thoughtlessly. "We're doing it as soon as we can get everything ready. Preparation is an important part of any magic trick."

Hmm... which one to do...? She pondered, casting a stray glance at Jasmine. Feather quickly decided she would need a second opinion on this. "Hey, do you think it would be better if we tried to set things up so water falls on him? Or maybe we could put something in his food... Oh, and then there was that time I made that old housecat think I was dead, and then I got up and started chasing him." The young feline broke out into giggles again at the memory. "You should've seen the look on his face! It was like he saw a ghost! That jerk totally deserved it, too..."
