  • Sage had been living in the orphanage for 11 years. Today it would be twelve. She was sweet, adventurous, and careful of other's feelings. Why wouldn't anyone adopt her? She had been wondering this for years. People rarely came to the orphanage to adopt. Much less to drop off a child. A child who could maybe be her friend. She needed a friend, someone to talk to, to play with. She had explored every nook and cranny, read every book, magazine, or newspaper at least twice. The other children didn't share the same interests, or they were mean, or too young or too old to be her friend. Today was her 12th birthday, and no one had even acknowledged her. So to sum it all up, today was not the best day.

    Sage's profile:

    Name: Sage
    Gender: Female
Looks: Long brown hair, one eye green the other blue. She wears skinny jeans and a purple t-shirt.
Personality: A usually happy, kind girl. Desperately wants a friend, female OR male.

Plot: Sage desperately needs a friend. Your character comes to the orphanage. Gender doesn't matter. Age doesn't matter much but must be older than 12. They go on adventures together and try to escape. Actually, I would like a male for this, so maybe they could fall in love.

Xander used to be extremely talkative and fun to be around even though he may look really depressed all the time. He never believed in dying his hair so he just left it her black not did he ever get any piercing other than the diamond earring his mother bought for him two years back. He used to never wear it, but now he never takes it off. He used to be adventurous, rebellious, always searching for something exciting. Now he never leaves his bed except to take care of his health. One minute, he had everything he could ever ask for; really the best life. But his parents never came home from a business trip 6 months ago. Even now that he's being brought to this orphanage, he doesn't know why. His friends always tries to help, but, in a way, he never let them. He told them it never mattered, that he was fine, but, in truth, he's falling apart.
There are nights, at the orphanage, where he disappears from his room, but no one really knows where he goes. Of course, his adventure seeking self never died even if he's not as excited about it, but in the end, he found one place where he could be closest to his parents, mentally. After searching the attic a few times, he found a door hidden behind boxes upon boxes leading up to the roof.

  • Sage's eyes lit up as she ran down the creaky stairs to meet Xander. Finally! All I could ask for, someone new! Maybe he'll be my friend! She thought anxiously. She ran up to him and greeted him. The orphanage owners obviously wernt going to, all they ever did was sit on their butts and drink coffee. The kids had gotten used to taking care of themselves. "Welcome to Stoneridge Orphanage!" she said excitedly. "my name is Sage. What's your name? Today's my birthday! I'm 12. How old are you?" her eyes were bright and excited as she smoothed her shirt and waited for his reply. She looked into his eyes. She noticed he was kinda cute, too. She noticed she was falling for him, even though she didn't even know him. She controlled her feelings. She had read about this wonderful feeling in books, but never experienced it.

  • Xander had just barely gotten through the door when he was bombarded with her questions, but he didn't mind. It was better than thoughts sappy ones his friends would asked whenever he entered a room. Somehow, he was able to force a slight smile into his face, but without anyone he knew, it was harder to not think about his parents. Where were the adults? He was glad he was greeted by someone his age, but… shouldn't there be someone he had to talk to first? "Happy birthday, Sage," He replied, trying out her name while also trying to sound at least a little happy for her since it was a big day. He couldn't have been the first person to tell her that, especially since she was surprising pretty. The guys here were probably graveling at her feet already so he deciding to play it safe around her ."I'm Xander and I'm 13 years old, but um… are there any… adults… here?" he finally asked and started twirling his earring, something he always did when he was nervous. It was then that he decided to actually get a good look at the girl and he actually liked what he saw. Her hair looked well taken care of, probably pretty silky, too, which meant they did have good showers and cleaning products. Her eyes as well look… unique. Not in a bad way, but in a really good way! Even though they were two different colors, they were beautiful shades, if that made any sense. If this was the kind of people he would surrounded by for the rest of his mind, he really didn't mind that much at all.

  • Sage giggled. "Thanks! No one wished me happy birthday today, so your the first one!" she grinned. "And there are adults here, but no one usually comes and they don't really care about us, but, ya know, we have what we need to take good care of ourselves. If you would like to talk to them, I can bring you to them, but I would advise it. Instead, I can show you your room!" she picked up his bags and started walking upstairs but then stopped, waiting for him to follow. "One of the two adults here said you would be sleeping in my room, with alysha since there are not many rooms here. Just be warned, though, alysha doesn't like people who are younger than her. I'll show you your room and then you can get settled and then I can show you around, if you'd like." her heart skipped a beat when she looked into his eyes.

  • Xander followed a few steps behind her, listening to her chatter away, but he was hardly paying attention. He was mostly looking at the antique furniture that decorated the hallway and the ugly wallpaper. He snapped to attention when she mentioned him staying in a room with two girls. Sage—whom he actually kind of liked because of her sweet personality—and this Alysha. Just hearing Sage talk about what she was like intimidated him. He tried to ignore that part, though. He could just avoid her like he had been doing with everyone else in his life. "Oh, um… thanks," He said for everything she was doing. Honestly, he didn't expect this kind of person at an orphanage, especially not this one. He had to return the favor somehow, but there wasn't much he could do, yet. For now, he jogged up the steps to where she stood and gestured to his bags, "I can carry the heavier one, if it's too much" He offered, but didn't wait for her response, he just slipped his hand under her's and took the bag to his side.

  • "your welcome," she replied, looking around at the ugly wallpaper for what might've been the 1000th time. She wouldn't be surprised if it was. "oh..." she blushed. "am I talking too much? I don't usually talk a lot but, I haven't talked in a really long time so I guess it just sorta poured out of me." she opened the door to their room. "hey Alysha," she said to the 16 yer old girl sitting on the twin bed farthest from the door. She was reading an old book and had headphones on, but sage knew the headphones didn't work and she just put them on to be cool. Sage looked at her feet miserably when alysha didn't even aknowladge them. "she's like this everyday," sage whispered glumly. She set down his suitcase on the twin bed set up across the room from alysha bed and sages, then she sat on her own bed and started scribbling on an old note pad she had found the week before, every once in a while looking up to glance out the cracked window.

  • Xander didn't say anything for a while, but he at least nodded at the things she said, unlike this Alysha character. He had no clue what she could've gone through to make her act that way, but he thought she kind of looked weird just wearing headphones. Maybe he was mistaken, but if it was loud enough that she couldn't hear them, he should've been able to hear something, but he didn't. Was she honestly just ignoring them. Eventually, he decided not to say anything about it and just unpack. It didn't take him long since he wasn't very organized and all he did was shove his shirts in one drawer, pants in another, and socks and underwear in two separate, smaller drawers. When he was done, he found one last drawer hidden under his bed. When he pulled it out, it was empty for the most part . Just a couple of small things like a Lego, probably left from the last person who slept there. He dug down to the bottom of his backpack and took out a photo album and a medium-sized picture frame, but didn't bother looking at either of them or being gentle when he dropped them in the drawer. With a sigh of relief, he stood up and examined the room. It was pretty cramped and a little run down, but that entire building was the same. He noticed a cold breeze sifting through the crack in the window and then the thin blankets the covered each of the beds. Without thinking, he crossed the room and sat down next to Sage, close enough that his arm brushed against her's for a second. She was cold. "Where can we start?" He asked, leaning over her shoulder to see what she was scribbling down. He knew sitting around like this wouldn't help either of them and he actually needed something to keep him busy. "With the tour, I mean."

  • Sage looked up in surprise to see Xander sitting right next to her. She felt tingly when his arm touched hers. She closed her notepad. "I'm going to be a writer someday," she proudly explained. "Oh yes...the tour." she stood up and opened the door, and motioned for him to follow her. She walked down the hallway towards the stairs, and stopped at a closet on the way and pulled out two blankets. "it's rather cold here, and they don't have sweaters." she put a blanket around his shoulders. Then she started going downstairs. When she noticed him looking back at the hallway of doors, she said "those are just other children's rooms. Nothing special." then she walked to the kitchen. "first off is the kitchen."

  • Xander pushed himself up from the spring-loaded bed and followed her out the door. Out of habit, he closed the door to their room behind him hearing a soft click then folded his arms across his chest to warm him up a little more. He breathed a sigh of relief when she pulled the blanket around his shoulder, trying to ignore the fact his friends would see that as some sort of romantic gesture. Just thinking a girl as pretty as her would do something like that on purpose just felt like a stupid dream. Especially since they just met. A smile slowly spread across his face when he turned the corner into the kitchen. "Ah, finally… my favorite room of all!" He said, spreading his arms at to exaggerate its magnificence while a slight laugh bubbled up from his chest, but as soon as he spread his arms out, he pulled them back in to cover them with the blanket again. Even if he was wearing a jacket, he had no reason to try to act cool and give the blanket."They at least have eatable food here, right?" He joked, raising an eyebrow and lightly elbowing her sound.

  • Ooc: Lol I love roleplaying so much! I've been checking obsessively for the past hour XD

Ic: Sage shrugged. "There's eatable food here, but if you wanna live don't try the brussel sprouts." She giggled. Her eyes lit up when she saw him smile. He had such a beautiful smile, she thought, but thinking he might like her felt stupid. She walked out of the kitchen and walked into the living room and sat on the couch, staring into his wonderful eyes. "Here's a nice place to read, cuz the t.v. doesn't work." She reached under the couch cushion to check if the crowbar she had found yesterday. She had planned on escaping today, but she didn't want to leave Xander all alone in this horrible place. They would escape together, someday, she decided with a quiet sigh. "Anyway, moving on to the backyard. There's an old abandon tree house there that no one goes in. I've been going alone for a long time, but now we can go together!" She said excitedly. She smiled and draped her hair behind her ear. Then she was once again mesmerized by his beautiful brown eyes.

  • (I'm like that every time I find a new thread xD)

Xander's eyes scanned the room with a gleam of curiosity as she explained the room to him. The place looked so old there had to be at least some secrets in every room, but she already started to nave on to the next room before he could ask. Before she did, he noticed her let out a quiet sigh and felt like it might've been partially his fault. After all, the whole time he hadn't been saying much, only spacing out a lot. If he planned on living there for a while, why not at least try to enjoy it? "Sounds cool!" He agreed, jogging to catch up with her at the back door and ended up being the one pushing open the screen door. Right when he stepped outside, he could already see the tree house hidden by trees and shrubbery. "Woah…" He breathed as he started towards the old structure with a look of awe. He brushed back his coal black hair when the wind blew it over his eyes, but he didn't really care, not even about the cold. "I was never allowed to have a tree house and this one does look really cool!" For the first time in weeks, Xander spun around to face her with a look of excitement then, after clearing his throat, he bowed deeply with one hand outstretched towards the tree house, "Ladies first," and he couldn't help laughing at himself for it.

  • She giggled. And ran to the tree house, the wind blowing her hair so it streamed back. She started climbing the tree, helping him up every once in a while. Every time they touched, her heart thumped so loudly she was surprised that he couldn't hear it. When they got to the top of the tree house, when you looked out the window, you could see the houses on the same block as the orphanage. "This is the closest I've ever been to out of the orphanage. My parents were 18 and in the orphanage when they met me. The day after they had me, they left." Her eyes clouded with sadness. "I never knew what their names were, no one will tell me. I've never been out of the orphanage, either." she took a shakey breath. "Besides a girl who knew my parents and told me all of this and left a good number of years ago, you're the only one who knows. But I feel like I can trust you." she smiled weakly and looked at him. Her hair was rippling behind her from the wind. At that moment, she seemed to glow. She was truly beautiful.

  • (Every time we touch I get this feeling LOL)

Xander sucked in a deep breath when he propped his elbows up on the wooden windowsill as an attempt to keep himself from screaming out. Part of him felt the need to spill out everything that has happened to him these last few months, but it felt like something literally clogged his throat and kept him from speaking. She trusted him with her life story, but he couldn't say his own. If I can't do it now, I can't do it ever. He thought, desperately trying to convince himself to get it off his chest. After a long pause, he turned towards her and ran a hand through his hair, mostly to distract himself. His eyes were glazed over with a layer of heart wrenching sorrow much worse than before, but he still spoke with the same calmness and confidence. "I want to lay down for a while…" He said quietly and added, "But only for a little while. Then we can come right back here, okay?" Even though he tried to smile, he felt like he were about to cripple over and failed miserably.

  • "Sure!" She said happily. She smiled and then helped him climb down the tree. "No one has set up your bed yet though, so I can quickly put on some sheets and a pillow, if you would like." when they got back to the orphanage, they passed a closed door. Her voice dropped to a whisper. "This is where the two grumpy grown ups who run this place live. I would never go in there if I didn't have too, and I would advise you to do the same." Then they silently crept up the stairs, which w hard to do since the place was so old. When they got back to their room, Alysha still had headphones on and was still reading, but her eyes were red and there was a tear down her cheek, and it was clear that she had been crying. She looked at Xander to see if he noticed, and then flashed the girl a sympathetic glance. Then she grabbed some clothes from her drawer and walked into the closet. "Back in a minute," she said as she closed the door. She cam out in short jean shorts, and an off the shoulder shirt that said "LOVE" on it. She only chaned because she thought she might look more attractive to Xander this way. Then she sat cross legged on her bad and said, "So do you want me to change your sheets?"

  • Xander was comforted by the fact Sage was still as cheerful as ever like no matter what happened, she would be able to smile. Actually, he was rather envious of that trait. Once they got to the room, he was hardly paying attention to Alysha until she disappeared into a closet to change. He glanced over at Sage to see if she knew what that was all about, but Alysha had already returned before he could say anything, but now she was wearing a T-shirt and shorts. "Oh, sure," He replied then raised a hand towards Sage and added, "Sage offered to help, too, so…" His voice trailed off at the end and he looked back over at Alysha with a puzzled expression. "And, by the way, Alysha, aren't you freezing in that?"

  • Ooc: Sage was the one who changed, sorry, I didn't make that very clear.

Ic: Soon sage had made up his bed, and he was fast asleep. All the while, Sage was scribbling in her notebook, writing stories, and making plans to escape. There was one window in the bathroom on the first floor that had been rather drafty recently, and she figured that soon enough, it would come loose. She thought about escaping with Xander, being free at last. She shivered. When she had changed into this outfit, she had only thought of impressing Xander, not her body temperature. She walked as quietly as she could to the closet and back, turning with a blanket around her shoulders. When she got back, she noticed Xander was waking up and his beautiful brown eyes were shining. Once again, she sat in her bed, waiting for him to fully wake up.

  • Oh it's okay, I always worry I might be making my posts too hard to understand sometimes too xD)

Xander woke with a tired groan and stretched out his muscles that felt stuff from the position he slept in. He blinked a few times to try to get used to the overwhelmingly bright light coming from the window, but he still had to squint to see Sage sitting down on her bed. Oh that's right… I'm at an orphanage… He thought and pulled the blanket up just enough to burry his face in it, but he could still look up an see Sage. "How long was I out…? He asked, followed by a long yawn.

  • Sage looked up from her book. "Oh...only about 45 minutes." she saw him shiver, and then handed him the folded up blanket that she had got for him from the closet. After all, you were always cold when you first wake up from your warm bed. "So, you wanna go back to the tree house in a while?" she asked eagerly. But then she noticed that Alysha was gone. Xander was asleep, and she was in the room the whole time....except when she had gotten the blankets. "I'll...umm....be right back," she said, and hurried out of the room. She asked in all of the other rooms, but Alysha was no where to be found. Finally, she checked the bathroom. There was a jar of small white pills spilled on the floor, and next to them lay Alysha. She instinctively leaned down and checked her pulse. She was breathing. Sage panicked and ran back to Xander in panicked tears. "Alysha...Alysha! Come quick!" she cried. They both ran back to the bathroom.
