  • The smooth roll of the tide calmed Sparrow as he lowered his head and pawed at the severed head of a fish. His Two-Leg owner cast his reel out into the ocean and turned to Sparrow. "A fine day for fishin', ain't it, Sparrow?" The old Two-Leg chuckled hoarsely, patting Sparrow's black striped fur. He purred and curled into a ball, laying his head on his paws and slowly, slowly falling to sleep.

    BANG!

Sparrow snapped out of his dream and into reality, wildly whipping around to find his owner. He was no longer sitting in the boat with him. "Master! MASTER!" He screeched, cowering in fear as dark clouds infested the sky and bolts of lightning crashed down to the earth. The boat rocked back and forth, creaking with every jerk. Suddenly the floorboards beneath Sparrow split, and down he fell into the depths of the sea. Sparrow panicked and began sweeping his paws, but the spell of darkness overcame him and he slowly slipped out of conciousness as he drifted off. Master, no...

When the dawn turned to day, the body of a cat washed up on the shore. There, Sparrow lied in the sand, unable to awaken from his frightful experience. An island was his new location, with palm trees, seagulls, and miles of sand surrounding the area.

OOC: I know it's kind of confusing to read, but trust me, it'll make sense.

The she cat let out a quiet yawn as she awoke in her usual tree, the calm tide waking the tired tabby. Her slick fur almost gleamed in the now slightly less cloudy sky, her eyes shifted in search of entertainment. Nothing here was that interesting. Honestly, it got a bit boring for her when she was old enough to live on her own. The palm trees shaded her well as she walked through the beach, sand creeping its way between her toes. She was still calm and quite content as she walked by. Faint cracks of thunder and lightning passed in the distance, and after a bit, they stopped altogether, need it be from the waves creeping its way up the beach, or the strong ocean wind blowing into her ears. She loved every second of it. The smell of the salty water, the damp and cool air, the nice, hardly blue sky. It was paradise for her. It may have been a bit dull around there, but that's what it was like everywhere, right? She could suddenly feel a dramatic change in the repetitive lapping waves. Another item washed on shore, perhaps? Most likely something that came from that storm not too long ago. When storms came, that only meant one thing: entertainment. There was a slight bounce in her step as she padded over to the shore, the extremely damp earth now covering her paws and wrists as she examined the boat. At least, whatever was left of it. Most that was there was just soaked, broken fragments of wood. No human in sight. Her eyes focused on a figure on the beach, perhaps another one of her kind? Cats didn't normally end up on shore on random occasions, the poor guy must've been in that boat during the storm. The tabby approached the figure quite cautiously, just in case he was still alive and not friendly. Her eyes shifted down to his face as she observed him from a good ten feet away, an ear flicking. Tail erect in concern and cautiousness, she approached the stranger carefully. "Gee, you must have gone through that whole storm.." She muttered to herself as her dull blue optics focused down on him with a hint of concern in that intense stare of hers. She soon noticed his chest rise and fall; he was actually alive! She let out a slightly relieved sigh, but backed away a bit, her eyes still focused on his. "Hey! You okay there, pal?"

  • Sparrow groaned and slowly opened his eyes. His vision was blurred and his mind was disoriented. "Ohh... What happened?" he moaned, placing his paw on his head as he stood. Dizzily, he wobbled around until his eyes fixated on the she-cat next to him. Sparrow jumped back and screeched. "What the.. Who are y-you? Wh-Where am I?" He asked in fear. Sparrow was weakened by the intense heat on the island, and again stumbled over. As he tried to stand, he looked back towards the stranger she-cat. Her serious gaze made him take a step back.

Orchid couldn't help but jump back as he awoke, taken aback from his awakening. The slim she-cat couldn't help but chuckle at his sudden questions, though they were perfectly valid in a situation such as this. "Heh, the name's Orchid." She greeted with a dip of the head. "And as for where you are...well, you're kinda on an island." She meowed, gazing around as if she didn't know where she was either. Referring to it as an island seemed strange, she was just used to identifying it as her home. "Did you really make it through that whole storm? If so, you must be a pretty tough guy." She commented with a hushed snicker. It wasn't everyday an actual living animal made it through a whole storm like that, most that washed up on shore were either dead or dying. It did seem a bit impressive to her.

  • Sparrow felt insulted by her comment, but ignored it. "I... What? An island?" He asked, sounding delirious. "Oh no, oh no, no, no..." Sparrow began to panic on the inside, but all he could do was lie down in the sand. "This isn't happening..." He cried, placing his paws over his eyes. "This can't be happening..." Gone. That's what he was. Lost. Separated.

Gee, what was up with this tom? Her nostrils flared in confusion as she heard his muttering and murmuring, and tilted her head. To her, being on an island was a blessing, hardly any humans or dogs or other enemies, plenty of food; it was nice. Well, for her it was. It seemed like this here tom didn't like it at all. "What's up with you?" Orchid asked with obvious perplexity. Her tail flicked as she stepped a bit toward him, but was still a bit away as she sat upon the damp sand.

  • Sparrow took a glance at the she-cat, then looked out into the ocean. "I.. I.." Sparrow stammered through tears. "I had a family, and a Two-leg friend, and... and a home..." He took a pause to wipe his tears. "They're all gone now. I'm stranded here, stuck on this stupid island!" He shouted angrily, knocking over a pebble with his paw.

Orchid backed up at the sudden spiel, tail up in alertness, just in case this tom wasn't as friendly as she thought. "Listen, there's nothing you could've done about it." She called out, her voice slightly shaking as she spoke, most likely in nervousness. Her optics narrowed as she soon stepped forward a bit, allowing her to get a better view of the tom. "Wait just a second, Two-leg friend? You mean you actually trust those things?!" She snorted in offense, somewhat insulted by the fact that one of her own kind interacted with those beasts. Her claws unsheathed in irritation as she looked at him with nostrils flared.

  • Sparrow stood up, alarmed by the she-cat's sudden offensiveness. "Now you look here! That Two-leg was a good friend of mine!" He snarled back, his fur standing on end. His claws dug into the sand, giving him balance, despite how weary he was from the sun's bright rays. "He was my only friend in the world, so you shut your trap!" Sparrow growled, enraged by the rudeness of a cat he hardly knew.

Orchid's eyes narrowed into slits as she stepped a bit forward once again. "Do you know what those beasts do?! They're barbaria-..Only friend in the world? What are you even talking about?" She asked with a clearly perplexed expression. "You have spoken with your own kind, right?" Surely he must have, what kind of cat would have a two-leg as his only friend? Her tail flicked as she tilted her head.

  • Sparrow flinched at the question, but admitted the truth. "NO! And I'd like to keep it that way!" Sparrow shouted in anger. He began to walk away, infuriated. A smooth trail of sand followed him. What does she know? She's just some dumb cat stuck on an island! There's no Two-legs here anyways! Sparrow thought grumpily, now stomping on the soft sand beneath him. Suddenly, Sparrow broke into a sprint, running towards the rain forest in the center of the island.

Orchid's brow furrowed in irritation as she noticed him break off into a sprint. "Go and die for all I care!" She shouted back, her tail lashing in annoyance before she stomped back off. "What a stupid cat," She growled to herself as she continued her way down the beach. "He's gonna get himself killed in that forest." Her claws unsheathed, and she continued her way down her the beach, until she turned to head into the thick woodland.

  • Sparrow cringed at the she-cat's remark, but continued to seethe in anger. "Stupid cat, stupid storm, stupid island..." He raged on, not knowing where to go, what to do, what to say. He simply continued to walk. Lush, green forest surrounded him, with beams of light streaming through the jungle canopy. Rustles were heard in the bushes, and it seemed as if they were following him. Sparrow perked up his ears, listening warily. The rustles became louder, then halted to a stop. "Hello?" he called out. "Who's there?" he asked, hoping it wasn't that cat he'd met earlier. One last rustle of a bush was heard, and then a black creature leaped out of the brush. Sparrow gasped as the shadowy creature lunged at him, clawing his side and cheek. Strips of blood drew from his wounds. "Wh-What do you want from me?" he grunted, trying not to lose his balance. The combination of the intense sunlight and the wound were too over whelming. The creature gave one final swipe, cutting deep into his neck. Sparrow took one deep last breath, as he wobbled and fell to the ground. His vision blurred as he stared above him, and all he could see is the dark figure of the creature that attacked him. The creature raised it's huge paws once more, but Sparrow fell under the spell of the darkness and passed out.

Orchid continued her trudge through the forest, and made sure to keep alert, you never know what may be lurking around the corner, after all. Her blue optics focused and narrowed as she climbed a tree, the soft bark making it simple for her to dig her claws in and move upward. With a cranial turn, her her chest sunk, and her hindquarters rose, before she leaped onto branch of another tree. A coy smile was on her face as she did so, but it quickly faded as she caught the scent of blood. She thought it was prey, or at least, she assumed it was. Her eyes were on the search for apex predators as she climbed through the trees. The tabby sheathed her claws as she felt the scent of blood growing stronger, and her pupils almost automatically shrunk into small and thin slits.

  • There lay Sparrow, sprawled out in a crimson pool of his blood. Scars tore down his sides and face. The dark creature let out what seemed to be a chuckle and began to bare its teeth, slowly inching towards Sparrow.

Orchid looked at him with widened eyes full of concern, but they only narrowed as she noticed the dark figure. She stood still as she tried to identify it, and with a lash of the tail, she jumped down out of her safety of the tree, and stood in front of Sparrow's body protectively. The she-cat's nostrils flared as she crouched low, as if daring it to make another move, or take another step.

  • The creature jumped and hissed, lashing out. Then the creature laughed. "Heheh, two in one? Must be my lucky day." He growled in a deep voice. Suddenly, a loud yowl rang across the forest, echoing off the bark of the trees. "I must leave. I'll catch you later, prey..." He howled, vanishing into the brush.

Orchid was certainly surprised by the words, but continued to hover over Sparrow's body for a few moments longer, just in case the figure planned to turn back. Her eyes focused back onto the tom from before, and she quickly nudged him with her muzzle in attempt to try and wake him up.

  • Sparrow's body moved a bit, then returned to a idle state. Suddenly his eyes flew open and he gasped for air. "GAH!" He grunted, cringing in pain. Sparrow couldn't stand up as the pain was unbearable, surging through his veins. Sparrow begin to make a screeching noise that seemed like crying, pawing at the ground.

"Attracting more predators isn't going to do you any better." She growled with narrowed eyes. She was done trying to be nice to the tom after what he had told her just minutes ago, but she still didn't have the heart to just leave him to die. "C'mon. Let's go clean that wound out. And also find a better place to rest, this area isn't a good spot." She added, before attempting to pull him off the ground.
