The dark is our only hope

"It's nice that we don't have to worry about anyone trying to kill us right now." Liliana murmured.

Devin nodded at Liliana.

"Yeah..." he said softly, his smile a little sad.

He sighed and smiled at her.

"It's nice to have a bit of a reprieve..."

Liliana knew that he was worried and wanted to help him.

Devin shook the dark atmosphere that enveloped him like a cloak and smiled at Lili. He wasn't going to spend what little time he had left lamenting that it was so. He was going to enjoy every moment he could with the woman he loved while thinking up a way to get out of this situation.

Liliana gently touched his cheek and said, "I wish I could help. It's not fair that you have to face this on your own."

Devin smiled, leaning into her touch.

"Sometimes, we have to walk down a path we don't want to... and walk it alone." he said softly. "But you are helping me. You give me the strength to fight, to carry on... With you by my side, I know we'll find a way."

He then kissed her tenderly.

Alexi shivered slightly as Lance slipped his hands under her shirt as they kissed, the action seeming to cause the warmth from his hands to race up her spine and settle in her cheeks, painting them a pale pink. She pressed closer to Lance, wanting to get as close as she could.

Alexi unwrapped her arms from around Lance's neck and slowly trailed them along his well muscled back. She smiled softly as she felt Lance's arms hold her in place.

Liliana kissed him back just as tenderly.

Alexi smiled tenderly at Lance.

"I love you too." she told him.

Devin smiled softly as Liliana kissed him back.

Liliana never wanted to lose Devin. He meant the world to her.

Alexi smiled at Lance and closed her eyes for a moment. She opened them and grinned.

"Those two are out for a walk and so closeted in their own little world I doubt they'll hear if we called. And I've no idea where Kyler and Liam are." she said, then blushed. "Besides... I'd like to spend some time alone with you."

Devin smiled as he slowly drew away. He could feel how Lili felt through their kisses.

"We'll find a way around this... I promise." he told her softly as he laid his forehead against hers for a moment before carrying on with their walk.

Alexi watched Lance set the pot of stew on the counter. She then smiled softly as he took her hand.

Alexi followed Lance several emotions flittering through her; love, happiness and nerves being the most prominent.
