  • Four notebooks, one with really good drawings, one with personal writings, a journal, and a notebook of his old poems that she analyzed and crtiqued like she was in college. She learns a lot from him and is smarter than she's letting on.))

The doctor administered the painkillers, and when they kicked in, Trina was out like a light.

  • "Hmm. I thought that just killed pain. I didn't know it would knock her out," Nik commented. He'd never dream of violating her privacy.... And reading those notebooks while she was asleep. Never think of it.

  • What, was he trying to fool himself? Those notebooks must be either valuable or inappropriate.
Trina had not left her backpack at home, so she'd had it when she got her. Nik retrieved it from behind the counter and sat in the waiting room, flipping through the pages. He skimmed respectfully through the journal, not looking at much, admired her drawings, mentally debated with her about his poems, and read the stories in amusement. She should have shared these.

  • The redhead, was again, quite smarter and more talented than she had led anyone to believe. A lot of her drawings were pencil sketches of old photos of her and her big brother, usually from when she was small, and in them they were either playing or sleeping, cuddled up together.

  • Those drawings were so darn cute.
Nik took the backpack with him, returning to his little sister's room. There was no reason to stay, really, but he would anyways.

  • A doctor came in and tapped him on the shoulder, "Do you plan on going home, or do you want your own room here? I could even bring an air mattress if you insist on staying with her." the doctor whispered politely.

  • Oh geez Nik))

The doctor nodded, and minutes later they had an air mattress on the floor for him, as well as some large blankets...it would be freezing without them.

  • What?

"Thank you," Nikolas said gratefully. If he'd been denied, he might have crawled through the ceiling vents to spy on her all night. Perfectly normal.
    That was a joke.

  • Wow. Trina was still sleeping, of course, her hand dangling off the bed near Nik's mattress laid. They were in a hospital, no doubt they'd be safe.
