"I'm a teenage female who plays sports. I mask a lot of pain." she responded flatly.

"Well, do you want me to call a doctor?" Nik asked, standing.
-
She nodded tiredly, resting her eyes.
(What if he read her notebooks while she slept?)
-
"Alright then," Nikolas said, striding out of the room and returning two minutes later with a doctor in tow.
What would he find?
-
Four notebooks, one with really good drawings, one with personal writings, a journal, and a notebook of his old poems that she analyzed and crtiqued like she was in college. She learns a lot from him and is smarter than she's letting on.))
The doctor administered the painkillers, and when they kicked in, Trina was out like a light.
-
"Hmm. I thought that just killed pain. I didn't know it would knock her out," Nik commented. He'd never dream of violating her privacy.... And reading those notebooks while she was asleep. Never think of it.
-
"She's just exhausted." the doctor said before leaving. But come on, Nik had to wonder why Trina found those books worth getting beat up over.
-
What, was he trying to fool himself? Those notebooks must be either valuable or inappropriate.
Trina had not left her backpack at home, so she'd had it when she got her. Nik retrieved it from behind the counter and sat in the waiting room, flipping through the pages. He skimmed respectfully through the journal, not looking at much, admired her drawings, mentally debated with her about his poems, and read the stories in amusement. She should have shared these. -
The redhead, was again, quite smarter and more talented than she had led anyone to believe. A lot of her drawings were pencil sketches of old photos of her and her big brother, usually from when she was small, and in them they were either playing or sleeping, cuddled up together.
-
Those drawings were so darn cute.
Nik took the backpack with him, returning to his little sister's room. There was no reason to stay, really, but he would anyways. -
A doctor came in and tapped him on the shoulder, "Do you plan on going home, or do you want your own room here? I could even bring an air mattress if you insist on staying with her." the doctor whispered politely.
-
"I could just stay in here," Nik pleaded, looking up at the doctor with frantic eyes. He wasn't gonna leave Trina alone. Ever. Again.
-
Oh geez Nik))
The doctor nodded, and minutes later they had an air mattress on the floor for him, as well as some large blankets...it would be freezing without them.
-
What?
"Thank you," Nikolas said gratefully. If he'd been denied, he might have crawled through the ceiling vents to spy on her all night. Perfectly normal.
That was a joke. -
Nothing))
The doctor nodded, shutting the door to leave the two to rest after a long day.
-
Nik curled up under the blankets, staring at the ceiling. Maybe that hadn't been a joke.
-
Wow. Trina was still sleeping, of course, her hand dangling off the bed near Nik's mattress laid. They were in a hospital, no doubt they'd be safe.
-
Nik got up and silently paced the room, paranoid of intruders. But he finally gave up and went to sleep.
-
And of course, by the time he'd wake up the next morning, she wasn't in the room. Hah, of course not.
-
That was some feat, considering how early Nikolas woke up. "Trina," he groaned, rolling unto his back and rubbing his nose. Bloody typical.
