  • Nik threw open the door, going back to his usual overdramatic ways. "Trina, I'm hoooome," he called into the apartment.
    The empty apartment.
Closing the door, he let his backpack drop and gazed around in confusion. "Trina?" Maybe she'd decided to walk with one of her friends and gotten sidetracked. She'd be back soon. He would just stay calm and- "Not funny, Trina!" he growled loudly.
A neighbor knocked on the door. "Summat up?" a voice said through the wood. Nikolas would have to keep quiet and figure this out.

  • This was not at all like Trina. She'd usually have the decency to text him if she stopped somewhere, yet she never did. She had her phone, as she left with it this morning. However, his phone would start to ring. The Caller ID lit up with Trina's best friend's name.

  • Nik snapped his phone open, brows furrowing. "Yeah?" he said into the cell, a bit more snappishly than he normally would have. "What's up with Trina?"

  • "I, uh, I don't know, I was trying to ask you! Some jerks at school were messing with her and I went to go get help and when we came back she was gone! All of them were! Oh god, I think she's in serious danger!"

  • Nik couldn't even fit his long legs under the desks at Trina's school. So, he'd asked if she could go to college with him, and been denied. This was why he needed to stay next to her at all times. She couldn't walk a straight line home without this happening.
Nikolas covered his mouth with one hand to mask his frantic breathing. "Alright. What general direction was she heading?" he asked after calming himself slightly.

  • "Either home or to you campus... I-I'm not sure. She said she needed to tell you something..." her friend said over the phone, "My mum already cooled the Constible...they're looking, too"

  • "Hmm," Nik droned, hanging up the phone without ado.
He didn't grab anything, dashing out of the building and slamming the doors behind him. His eyes scanned the surrounding area intently. She could be anywhere.
    Anywhere.
He'd better start searching. His feet drummed on the ground as he ran off, looking for her.

  • Of course he hurried, for not only was she possibly injured, but the weather was supposed to get nasty; sleet, fog and snow. He would've searched for hours and not found her, not one trace. That was, until, a Constible grabbed his arm, "We've located her! A kind sumaratan found her injured and dropped her off at the hospital!" the authority breathed, face red from the stinging cold and on foot searching, "We've got an automobile escort to take you to her!"

  • "Injured?" Nik said, eyes flashing.
He nodded at the constable, taking a moment to catch his breath. "I need to get to the hospital as soon a possible," he huffed.

  • "Trina. What did you do?" Nikolas said, a distraught look crossing his face for a moment. That was, like, his little sister. And she was in the hospital. He was an awful brother. He was supposed to protect her. It said so on the contract. Big brothers protect their sister.
    He walked towards her, scowling.

  • Trina, actually, half asleep before Nik came waltzing in. Her long crimson hair was matted, one eye was black and swollen, and she had bandages all around her midsection. A hazel eye fluttered open, and in a slurred voice she returned, "What makes you think it's my fault?" she croaked.

  • "You're an idiot," Nik whimpered, kneeling at the edge of her bed to take in her injuries, hands curling into the side of the bed. "You always get into trouble."

  • "It wasn't my fault this time!" she snapped at him before grimacing, "They were making fun of me. They tried to take my notebook, but I snatched it away and they started hitting me." tears pricked her eyes, but she turned her head away from her older brother.

  • "They? Who are they?" Nikolas demanded instantly. Oh, if he ever found who'd done this to his little sister.....
    .....
He scowled. Wondering why that notebook was so important.
