art theft question

    I have a question about art theft.
    Let's take... Er... This, for an example-

    I know for a fact that taking someone else's art and claiming it's your own is against the rules. But what if [if there's no watermark or copyright on it] you just use it for something? Like, if I took that and used it as a picture for some made-up cat named Dungflame [i know it's Firestar] or something? Would that be wrong? I've always been confused about that.

    I believe if you use it somewhere you should put "credit to the rightful owners"

    Actually, you'd have to ask the artist if there's a copy right, or anything that states that they don't want it anywhere else. You cannot modify it unless given permission, etc. etc.
