  • "Haha, alright! Hunting time!" exclaimed the ever-so-cheery Chordpaw. He had been out hunting many times with his mentor Woodtail, but this day something new was in the air. Hope? Passion? Excitement? Chordpaw couldn't quite put his paw on it, but he was sure that this day would be different from all the past. Maybe it was his new "invention" that gave him this feeling. Yeah, that was definately it. All of his previous attempts at creating a new method of hunting had failed him. But he was sure this one would work. A cool breeze rushed through his long and silky brown fur as he headed out towards the fields of Windclan territory with his mentor.
"Now, Chordpaw, you msutn't use one of your inventions!" he warned sharply. "You remember what happened last time?
"Yes, Woodtail..." Chordpaw muttered, rubbing his paw on the hard earth
"Very well then." Woodtail padded off. Chordpaw chuckled and followed, his golden eyes shining.
(OOC: Now it's your turn! By the way, I'm typing all this on a phone, sooo.... yeah.)

  • Hazelpaw crouched in the grass, her emerald eyes fixed on a large mouse. She slowly crept forward, careful not to make a single sound as she stalked towards her prey. The mouse was not excpecting anything as she pounced it, snapping its neck and allowing it a swift death. She picked it up by the tail and brought her kill to her mentor Clearsky.
"Great job, Hazelpaw!" she praised. Hazel paw purred and dipped her head. She was one of the strong, silent types- not very social or talkative until you actually get to know her.
"Lets try another spot," Clearsky suggested, waving her tail at her reddish brown apprentice. Hazelpaw nodded and followed after her mentor.

(OOC: Am I in WindClan too? Or a different Clan? It doesn't matter which, just wondering so I know what Ill be doing.)

  • (OOC: We're both in WindClan. Thanks for asking! :3 )

Chordpaw followed his mentor and proudly cocked his head to the side, confident that not a single mouse would get away from his trap. Suddenly, he sensed some cat nearby and turned to see Hazelpaw, as silent and strong as ever. Chordpaw let out a small "Hi!" before turning back to his mentor's trail, his bushy tail follwing a short, wavy pattern.

  • (OOC: No problem! =^-^= Just wanted to figure out what I was doing before I got too far into it.)

Hazelpaw jumped at the sound of Chordpaw's voice- not only was she quiet, but she was quite skittish too. Practically any unexpected noise would make her pelt turn white! Her ears perked and she turned to see him. "Oh...h-hi..." she greeted in a quiet but friendly tone as he walked past. Then Clearsky spotted Chordpaw and Woodtail. "Ah! Woodtail!" she exclaimed, bounding over to him quickly. "I see you're with Chordpaw. Would you two like to join Hazelpaw and I in training?" Hazelpaw hid behind her mentor, tucking her tail in to where Chordpaw and Woodtail could barely see anything of her, but not know that she was truly hiding from them.

  • Chordpaw tileted his head in confusion to Hazelpaw's secretiveness, but then gave a reassuring smile. "Sure, I'm game!" He meowed, answering Clearsky.
"If it's fine with you, Clearsky." Woodtail nodded in agreement, not taking a glance at either apprentice. Chordpaw continued to smile and began waving his tail in a playful manner.

  • Clearsky nodded. "We were about to go to the fields near the little Thunderpath," she answered happily. Hazelpaw poked her head out from behind her mentor and saw Chordpaws smile. She came out, and soon enough she was smiling and waving her tail too, though she barely knew Chordpaw, much less actually held a full conversation with him- but that went for just about every cat in the Clan, minus a select few from when she was a kit.

  • "Then off we go," said Woodtail, bounding his way through the brush.
"C'mon, let's go!" Chordpaw encouraged as he followed his mentor towards the Thunderpath.

(OOC: You're doing great so far! I wonder what Hazelpaw 's secret is... guess we'll have to find out? :o BTW sorry this one is short, I'm kinda playing off what you post to see how Hazelpaw reacts :3 )

  • Clearsky leaped after him, and Hazelpaw trailed farther behind, but close enough to where she wouldn't be left behind. She tripped over a few brambles here and there which slowed her down quite a bit, but she managed to make it to where Clearsky and Woodtail were taking her and Chordpaw. Once Hazelpaw caught up, she padded a bit closer to Chordpaw, trying her best to be social, though it wasn't going as well as she had thought. "H-Hi..." she shyly whispered to Chordpaw.

(OOC: Thanks! :D I think you'll find her secret a shocker...I don't plan on giving it away yet though! But Im pretty bad about keeping RPG secrets... >.< And its fine that its short- I don't mind at all =^-^= Ill do short ones sometimes if I don't know what to say XD)

  • (OOC: I like the way you're RPing Hazelpaw , and you're welcome! Can't wait to find out the secret!)

"Hi, Hazelpaw! I'm Chordpaw , nice to meet you!" He responded with a wave of his tail. Then he looked intently at her. "What's wrong? You seem worried." Chordpaw knew she was one of the silent types so he calmed down a bit and politely smiled at her. Chordpaw noticed they were being left behind by Clearsky and Woodtail, but he slowed down anyways to try and get to know her.

  • (OOC: Thanks! :D Im excited for you to find out the secret...i just have to find the perfect time to tell it!)

His energetic spirit amused her, and once he calmed down a bit, she felt a bit more comfortable talking to him, and she smiled. "Who...m-me...? Worried?" she said hesitantly. "Oh, no...I'm fine."

  • ( OOC: Im sure it'll come soon, with whats about to happen :o ! Just wait and see :3)

"You sure?" Chordpaw grinned at her once more. "It's okay if you need to tell me something."

  • Hazelpaw shook her head. "I'm fine," she repeated quietly but still staying friendly and polite. Clearsky had made it to the fields. "Alright then," she meowed scanning the open fields. "Hazelpaw?" Hazelpaw scrambled to her mentors side. Clearsky tapped her on the shoulder with the tip of her tail. "What do you smell?" Hazelpaw closed her eyes and took a deep whiff, trying her hardest to pick up any trace of prey. "Vole..." she began slowly, self conscious if she was right or not. "Um...mouse...maybe some ground dwelling birds...?" Clearsky nodded and looked to Woodtail, letting him know it was Chordpaw's turn witjh a flick of her tail.

  • Chordpaw nodded at Hazelpaw then took a deep whiff. "I smell... a couple of shrews!" He smiled and pointed his bushy tail towards a patch of tall grass. Yes! thought Chordpaw. This is it! My trap is right over there! It's sure to work. "Well, why don't we see if they're right, Clearsky?" Woodtail grinned a little at the apprentices and darted into the bush. Suddenly, Chordpaw's tail fell to the ground and his eyes widened. "Oh no...." Chordpaw began to shiver and slowly turned away. He lay on the ground, folding his ears with his paws. "Oh, I am so dead."

  • Clearsky followed after Woodtail into the bush, and Hazelpaw glanced at Chordpaw. She sensed his panic and she laid a paw on his head gently. "Chordpaw..." she mewed, beginning to enjoy his company. "Whats wrong?" She crouched to his level and blinked. Her green eyes told him that he could trust her. "You can tell me...I'm good with secrets."

  • Chordpaw stared deep into her green eyes and blinked. He was enlightened by Hazelpaw's company and compassion, but solemnly shook his head. "You'll see... In three, two, one..." Out of nowhere came a loud screech followed by a whoosh sound. "CHORDPAW!" came Woodtail's harsh shout. Woodtail had been caught in Chorpaw's snare! "GET OVER HERE THIS INSTANT!" Chordpaw sighed and stood up slowly.

  • Hazelpaw yowled, hissed, and leaped 3 feet into the air. She had no idea what had just happened, so she hid behind a large rock, fearing what it was. When she saw Chordpaw stand up, she felt a little braver, so she came out shaking- fur bristled, ears flattened. "Wh-What in the name of StarClan was that!?" she mewed timidly, forcing her fur to lie flat again.

  • "It was...." Chordpaw started, but was interrupted by Woodtail. "I TOLD you to NOT use on of your inventions!" He bristled, his fur standing on end. "I-I-I thought....." Chordpaw muttered and shirked in fear. "Thought WHAT?! That it would actually WORK?!" Woodtail sighed in anger and calmed down a bit after looking at Clearsky and Hazelpaw.

  • Clearsky ran her tail along Woodtails shoulder, trying her best to calm him down- besides, he was scaring Hazlepaw. "Hey, give him some credit for at least knowing how to make those things," she pointed out. Hazelpaw was terrified at Woodtail's rush of anger towards Chordpaw, but she tried her best not to be scared since it wasn't directed at her. Hazlepaw padded over to Chordpaw and licked him on the cheek comfortingly. "Its okay..." she whispered, trying to cheer him up. "At least you know that if it snaps then it will work. You just have to make it to where it won't snap on cats, but it will on prey." She laid a paw on his head and patted it. "I...I can help you if you'd like...I guess...."

  • Chordpaw blushed as Hazelpaw licked him, then turned towards her and smiled weakly. "Thanks, but that's not going to save me from what's about to happen...." He sighed. "You are right, Clearsky, but that does not give him permission to place them!" Woodtail then turned to Chordpaw and snapped, "For utterly disobeying my orders AGAIN, getting my foot injured AGAIN, and scaring away all the fresh-kill AGAIN, your apprenticeship is on hiatus! You will not hunt, you will not fight, and you most certainly will not make anymore of those... things! You'll spend the next two Moons assisting the medicine cat!" Chordpaw's eyes widened as a tear ran down his cheek. His depression suddenly turned into anger. "Fine! I don't care! I hate you anyways!" He began to cry as he ran off into the distance.

  • Hazelpaw flattened her ears as Chordpaw ran off. Clearsky watched him as he ran off, and she turned to Woodtail. "Woodtail...don't you think that may have been a bit...harsh?" she meowed, lashing her tail. "Two moons...that's a long time. He would most likely be the oldest of the apprentices by then, and that would cause him a lot of pain, watching the others graduate before him." Her ear twitched. "Why not forgive him this once, and at least tell him ask permission before placing them, and tell us where he is considering placing them before he does?" Then she glanced at Hazelpaw and nodded her head, letting her go after him. Hazelpaw dipped her head to both mentors, then darted after Chordpaw. "Hah...hah...hah..." she panted, her legs carrying her as fast as possible after him. "Chord...Chordpaw!!" she meowed loudly, catching up to him. "W-Wait!!"
