The sunlight filtered in through the canopy of trees. Ripplepaw lifted his head and parted his jaws, allowing the fresh air to fill his lungs.
-
Fawnpaw groomed her short fur as she lay outside of her den. She was wondering if she was supposed to go out on patrol or something, but no one had spoken to her yet.
-
"Ripplepaw!"
Ripplepaw raised his head at his mentors voice. Stonestripe strode toward him. "Come. I am taking you hunting today." He said. Ripplepaw jumped up excitedly. ~Hunting! Yes!~ Stonestripe looked at Fawnpaw. "You are welcome to come as well, Fawnpaw since your mentor is still on patrol." -
Fawnpaw perked her ears when Ripplepaw's mentor invited her to hunting. She got to her paws, stretching out her back. "Sure." She mumbled shyly. Inside, she was dancing with happiness. {Ripplepaw! Yes!} She had a crush on him since forever. And now they were hunting! Maybe he'd ask her out, then they'd become mates, and then have pups, and.. and...
-
Ripplepaw followed Stonestripe out of the camp with Fawnpaw on his heels. Being in the forest made him feel alive rather than her shaded camp in the valley. Ripplepaw pricked his ears. ~Hare!~ He dropped into stalking position and moved forward. Finally, he saw the small animal nibbling at a patch of grass. He was down-wind from the hare so it couldn't scent him. ~Almost there...~ Ripplepaw launched himself forward and slammed his front paws down hard onto the hare's back. He bent his head down and bit down onto the animal's spine. The hare fell dead at his feet. Ripplepaw sat back with a satisfied feeliin bubbling in his chest. "Nice catch, Ripplepaw." Stonestrpe said. Ripplepaw lifted his chin at the praise from his mentor.
-
Fawnpaw followed Ripplepaw out of the forest. She raised her nose and sniffed the air. {Is that a squirrel?} She turned and saw the animal. {Good, its fat.} She lowered herself to the ground and crept closer. When she was almost on top of it, she pounced. She sank her teeth into its neck, feeling proud of herself. She turned and trotted back, her catch hanging limply from her mouth. She saw Ripplepaw standing over a HUGE hare and her jaw dropped. She walked up to him and nudged the rabbit, suddenly feeling ashamed. "Nice catch." She mumbled, hiding her squirrel behind her paw.
Burningsky slunk over to Ripplepaw's den. She sniffed the entrance and let out a growl when she realized his scent wasn't fresh, and that it was mixed with her sister's. She turned and stalked out of the camp, nose to the ground as she searched for her crush.
-
Windpaw paused mid-lick as Stonestripe led Ripplepaw and Fawnpaw into the camp. She leaped up and bolted over to them. Ripplepaw turned toward her. She promptly butted him in the side with her head. "You said WE were going to go hunting!" She said. "I come back from patrol and you're already gone!" Rippleclaw set down the hare in his jaws. For the first time, Windpaw realized how big it was. He looked at her with his golden eyes. "We can go out hunting again if you'd like." He said. Her brother shot a look at Stonestripe who shrugged. "I don't really have plans for you right at this moment. But you need to meet me in the training patch for battle practice." Ripplepaw nodded "Okay. I'm going to take this to the elders. Come on, Fawnpaw. Then we can give your squirrel to Petalwing. Windpaw watched as her brother led Fawnpaw over to the hickory bush where the elders stayed.
Ripplepaw slid under a branch and pulled himself through. Fawnpaw squeezed in behind him. The elder Halftail lifted his head. His eyes lit up at the sight of the hare. "Is that for us?" He asked, licking his lips. Ripplepaw nodded and placed the hare on the ground, close to the old wolf. Halftail stared at the kill for a moment beore calling over his shoulder. "Petalwing! Ripplepaw and Fawnpaw have brought us a hare." He heard rustling and then the elderly cream-colored wolf appeared beside Halftail. She sat down and looked at the two young wolves. "Thank you." She said sweetly. Ripplepaw dipped his head before sliding out of the bush with Fawnpaw.
-
Burningsky followed her crush's scent, feeling pleased when it split from Fawnpaw's.
Fawnpaw watched as Ripplepaw presented his hare to the elders. "He caught it all by himself." She said proudly. She took a step closer to the elders and set down her squirrel. Her stomach growled loudly at the scent of food, but she ignored it and followed Ripplepaw back into the forest.
-
Ripplepaw padded over to the kill pile. He selected a plump thrush and walked over to it under a tree. He looked up and spotted Sparrowpaw choose a squirrel from the pile. "Hey, Sparrowpaw!" He called to him. The brown wolf turned toward him and cocked his head. Ripplepaw gestured for his friend to join him and scooted over so that he could sit beside him. He sank his teeth into the thrush and savored the taste as he chewed. "Where have you been all morning?" Sparrowpaw asked after swallowing. "Out hunting with Stonestripe and Fawnpaw." He paused to take another bite. "But I am supposed to go out again with Windpaw. What about you?" Sparrowpaw stretched out his front legs. "I went on patrol this morning with Lakewing, Windpaw, and Mudfang. We patrolled the whole lake side." Ripplepaw nodded and than looked up. Windpaw was walking toward him. "I have to go." He quickly gulped down the rest of his thrush and stood up. "I'll talk to you later!" He called over his shoulder as he strode to Windpaw. "Come on, Let's go." His sister said. She turned and together, they padded into the deep forest
-
Fawnpaw watched from across the camp as Ripplepaw gulped down a thrush with Sparrowpaw. Her stomach growled, and she slipped over to the fresh-kill pile. Just as she was about to sink her teeth into a juicy-looking crow, a rough nudge nearly knocked her over. She turned to see her annoying older sister, Burningsky. "What?" Fawnpaw asked, watching Ripplepaw from the corner of her eye. If she didn't hurry, she wouldn't have time to eat before hunting. "Stay away from Ripplepaw!" Burningsky growled. "He's mine!" Fawnpaw felt the fur on her neck began to rise. "He's not anyone's, Burningsky." Fawnpaw corrected, her golden eyes narrowing."Listen, Fawn-" But Burningsky was cut off as Fawnpaw raced out of the camp after Ripplepaw. "Ripplepaw! Windpaw! Can I come?" She asked nervously when she caught up to them.
-
Windpaw turned to the she wolf. "Of course!" She said friendlily. She thought she heard Ripplepaw mutter something but she wasn't sure. "Let's go." She said. The three wolves continued into the woods. "Here is good," They stopped near a tall tree. "We should split up. Meet back here when you've caught at least one piece of prey!" Ripplepaw's eyes glinted. He loved challenges.
-
Fawnpaw wagged her tail. "Thanks, Windpaw!" She followed the siblings to the tall tree. "Okay!" She said happily. She turned and raced off, sniffing the air for prey.
OCC: What did he say? O.o -
Ripplepaw raced off in another direction. He slowed down and tasted the air. A familiar scent bathed his tongue. Pigeon! He followed the scent and saw the grey bird pecking at some berries on the ground.
-
Fawnpaw's paws slowed when she caught the scent of rabbit. She stopped when she saw it. {Thank StarPack! This one is fat!} She crouched down and crept up on it. {Almost there...} The rabbit's head jerked up. She froze, realizing she had stepped on a stick. She held her breath. The rabbit scanned the forest carefully. She let out a sigh of relief when it relaxed and continued stuffing its chubby face. Fawnpaw didn't waste another second and pounced.
-
Windpaw heard the squirrel before she saw it. The grey animal was now sitting with its back to her. A grin spread across her face. ~You're mine~
Ripplepaw stalked forward and leaped. He thrust his paws down on the bird's wings so it couldn't fly. Then he bit hard on the back of it's neck and didn't move until it stopped struggling.
-
Fawnpaw bit down hard on it's neck and it went limp. She carefully picked up her prize, and started to walk back the way she had come.
Burningsky had decided to hunt instead of sulking around camp. She had started out after a thrush, but hid when Ripplepaw's scent had reached her. She hid in a bush and watched him finish it off. She crawled out of her hiding place, shaking leaves off her pelt. "Nice catch." She called out in what she hoped sounded like a flirty voice.
-
Ripplepaw whipped around and saw Burningsky standing behind him. "Thanks." He said. Bending dow, he picked up the bird and began to walk back to the tree. The she wolf followed behind him.
-
Burningsky wagged her tail and stepped closer. "Do you need help with that?" She smirked slightly. She had finally gotten Ripplepaw away from Fawnpaw.
Fawnpaw had arrived at the tall tree. She put the rabbit down and sat beside it, panting slightly. It had been hard breathing through rabbit fur, but at least she had time to rest now.
OCC: Do you want to make the cat rp, or me? -
OOC: You can
IC: Ripplepaw shook his head and kept walking. Finally, the tree came in view and he padded faster.
