the maltese tigress had been sitting on the border with a distance to her cerulean optics, staring out at the hazy horizon with her tail flicking absently behind her. she was so sick of people telling her what to do, who to be. she wanted, for once, just once, to be able to be herself around somebody who wouldn't judge her.

but there was one thing she wanted more than that, and it was permanency. to be able to be with somebody who could love her and her alone. somebody who would love her not only for what she did but also for who she was. and she knew, that even though ferdinand was completely capable of that ... it was was kept him so far away from her.

she felt lost. completely lost. she had suffered through so much pain and heartbreak. first, on the night with shira, where the bicoloured femme had, in a literal sense, torn her heart in two, spitting the words, 'you filthy bitch' in her face as she did. then, dodger ... dodger, who took it so selflessly. he didn't even ask for an apology. he was so forgiving. and then abbadus.

abbadus had been a taker, a taker of her heart and her self. he had only wanted power, like fragiledust. he was insecure and he wanted to be secure. that was why she had fallen for the fawn ticked tabby originally. because he seemed so lost, and she was, too. she was betrayed and raw and young. she didn't know what to do with herself, and the two had leaned on each other when they most needed the support.

and when he had drained her of all of her love, he had grown powerful. independent. he made it clear that he didn't need her, nor want her. he was just using her for power. she was powerful. she was an elite spy, the goddess of death, and a hardheaded ass. she was the best queen anybody could have asked for. and then she'd gotten captured, and it was as if she had become some strange being. like she couldn't be trusted. he had made it apparent that he no longer needed her. that she was a waste of time and space and that the only thing she deserved was pain and loss, to break her down and destroy her, so he would never have to look at her again.

and now there was ferdinand. he had crept up on her like a snake, and when he struck it left a reaonable scar. but it was the venom of his bite that spread through her veins and lifted a fire in her soul, the fiery burn of raw need to have a loyal companion like him. she was absolutely sure that ferdinand would be the single friend she had always needed, a supporter and always there for her. she had been broken, and with every word he had mended parts of her fragmented heart together until it was perfectly aligned, held together by every laugh, every touch, every smile shared between the pair.

and then she had grown apart from bloodclan and had stopped checking on ferdinand over time. he seemed happy, and she planned on visiting soon. the lips of the maltesian tigress lifted in a bitter snarl as she recalled her time away, suffering through the wounds inflicted by abbadus alone. and then, when she had left scarclan, she had checked on her friend one more time. she was stunned to find ferdinand not in bloodclan but in a spanish fighting arena. she tried to get there, she honestly had, but by the time she had arrived ... word had spread that the lion had been murdered. the grief that encompassed the femme was insurmountable, and it tore everything inside of her apart once more until she was again left without air and a heartbeat. but damn it, she still had a life. bleeding profusely, she had dragged herself to bloodclan ... only to find ferdinand perfectly healthy.

drained, she had gone on her own, and then returned to meet ferdinand alone. and then he did it again, healing her with every tender caress or word - both sharply and softly spoken - until she was nothing but scarred. she knew then how far her friendship went with the lion - she was, doubtlessly, in love with ferdinand. she was, and there was absolutely nothing she could do about projunda. fuck it! the tigress thought, fire rising in her cerulean optics. i shouldn't have waited so long. i shouldn't have left. i never had a change with that greedy asswipe ... !

the tigress open her maw and let out a roar. the sound was deep and baritone, thick with heartbreak and lonesomeness. she tilted her muzzle to the setting sun and finished the roar with a bass growl, before breaking off and colliding with the ground, anguish glittering in her orbs as she brought her claws into the hard earth and tore up the red clay until the ground was as massacred as her heart. she stood and tore off into the open desert, running, running, running until she came upon a pack of five african painted dogs. with a furious roar, she threw herself at them, latching her jaws onto the skull of one and crushing it immediately, allowing the sound to drown out her pained thoughts.

the dogs leaped her, tearing into her flesh and bringing pain forth. she let it drown out her thoughts, going limp against their attacks and staring at the sun. their jaws collided with her skin and inflicted deep wounds, and soon one moved to her throat and mauled the flesh there as well, providing a large amount of blood to stain the beautiful silver fur of the tigress. eventually they left her for dead.

the tigress was left staring with heartbroken, shattered eyes at the bleeding red horizon as the sun set and her life bled from her, creeping out like a snake and staring at her mockingly before slithering away. she was left alone in the desert, flanks shuddering and heaving until her final breath passed from the scarred lips of the femme.
