Pippa walked in step with Lamia with Axel bringing up the rear. The chestnut kept her eyes and ears alert as the trio headed further away from the herd and into the forest. She felt proud that the pinto had been brave enough to leave the confines of her herd, but there was also a feeling of worry settling into the pit of her stomach. What if the lead mare decided to come after them in attempts to get Lamia back? Pippa sighed softly and shook her mane, pushing those negative thoughts aside.
Soon enough they reached a small clearing within the forest. The sky had grown dark as the sun began to nestle itself below the horizon for the night.
"We'll rest here for the night," Axel said.
