• Larkkit's eyes flickered to and fro, glancing at the bickering cats and feeling himself grow uneasy. He shuffled his paws against the warm medicine cat den ground and looked towards his best friend Compasskit as she spoke in her sweet voice, nodding in agreement to her wise words. Eventually, however, Saffronspice spoke yet again, correcting mistakes in the answers she was given and explaining coltsfoot would be to help them breathe better, honey would help relieve the throat and yarrow helped the patient vomit. Simple enough!

Larkkit how titled his head as the silver tabby broke up some honeycomb into little pieces for everyone to try. He hestitantly padded forward, looking back to urgently see if Compasskit was going to come along or not. He made his way to the front of the room and held his good paw out to take a piece, slightly surprised as it stuck to his paw pad. The tuxedo chirped and flinched back a bit in surprise now, holding his paw up carefully to observe the sticky golden substance that had plastered itself to his paw. The tomcat placed it in his mouth and chewed, overwhelmed by the sweetness of the honeycomb. "Honey...bees make?" He questioned as he swallowed, licking at his paw as he shyly asked his question to the higher up. He wanted to ask more questions but he'd wait as it seemed everyone was now curious.

  • "Something to soothe your burns.. uh.. I forgot what kind of bark it was, but soak it and lay the bark on the burn?" She answered Sugarkit, not knowing the full answer. Something along those lines.

Phantompaw had never witnessed a fire, so he stayed silent.

  • [fancypost borderwidth=0px]Kissingkit, too, had never witnessed a fire nor saw any of the side effects of it. So she just sat back with eyes and ears open to learn. Sugarkit had raised a good point and Kissingkit's mind was already racing way ahead of her.

"Wet moss? Is that what you're thinking of?" Phantompaw asked Trailingpaw, his head tilted.

  • [fancypost borderwidth=0]"Wet bark?" Sugarkit asked with a half smile. That sounded kind of funny, and she just imagined slapping a piece of soggy bark on a burn and almost laughed out loud. It was kind of ridiculous sounding. Medicine sure was peculiar. "Is that really what you do? Slap some bark on it?" she giggled, flicking an ear.

  • Chimerakit reluctantly licked up some honey, but then ended finishing up her sample, warmed by the sweet liquid running down her throat. She yearned for more, but settled with that one small treat and tilted her head toward in the direction of all the questions being asked. Indeed, how did one treat a burn? Perhaps cobwebs if it was bleeding? That seemed the most simple solution, and probably poppy seeds for pain. Everything always went back to poppy seeds.

  • Skydreamer limped in, her head swinging side to side as if she expected a BloodClanner to behead her any moment. The joys of being tortured.

  • Salem stayed a few tail-lengths away. She respected Saffronspice and Totempaw but...well, Saff seemed to be a little judge-y in the way she dryly explained things, getting annoyed by the hyperactivity of kits. And Totem? He always seemed to notice even the smallest of flaws within people. His little grimaces and frowns were becoming quite noticeable. Salem didn't want any part in that. Thus, the creme-colored assistant deputy padded off.

  • Phantompaw watched the assistant deputy pad off with a shocked expression, but he lay his head back down to listen more.

  • And Skydreamer? Well, she noticed that her co-worker was padding away. She sighed and gingerly sat down. She did not know what was going on in Salem's mind, but she guessed it might be bad due to the fact she had walked away.

  • Wow. People took things very seriously here. Watching Salemtrials walk away with a slightly worried expression, Totempaw awkwardly brushed his paws against the ground. He knew he saw the only bad things in people, he was a very negative and pessimistic person, but that sort of shot him down. He gave a grunt of something under his breath and blinked sadly, he didn't want any part of it either, but it didn't really seem that there was anyway out of it now. Another one walked away .. what could he say to her? Did he have to apologize for being like this? Maybe he'd grow out of it .. then maybe people would like him. Right now it didn't seem like many did. He held his tongue from saying something rude and he then hung his head low, staring bitterly at the ground. Was he so bad? No, right? He couldn't be really that terrible that he caused Salemtrials to leave. He certainly hoped not, he had never said anything bad to the female, and now he knew that people would pay attention to her and .. well .. the whole thing would spiral out of control. For now he said nothing, but he did hold his ground. He wouldn't let them knock him down. He'd be strong! For he and Saffronspice. He'd stick up for her, and maybe she'd do the same for him. He puffed out his chest in his little confident moment and kept his gaze now sturdy, back straight with a willing smile towards the crowd. He didn't need to feel bad about what they thought. Who cared? Not him!

But that was just the foolish part of him talking. Inside he was hurt, hurt to know that his clanmates thought of him that way. He was negative, but that was because he didn't really know how to be positive. He had led a pretty bad lifestyle and this was just the results. Totempaw ignored this and still stared, readying himself in case his mentor let him ask a question or two.

Well while Salemtrials only seemed to notice their mistake and flaws, it made Saffron quite happy to see her leave. Nobody in any single Clan was perfect, not one bit. That was what she liked about Totempaw, he was perfectly imperfect.

"Usually poisonous plants are brightly colored to make them more visible like a warning sign, bees do make honey, and for burns I use aloe Vera which looks like a long and spiky leaf. Totempaw, would you like to ask the next question?" she asked, glancing towards the slightly down apprentice.

  • Chimera took her usual mental notes, repeating the words over in her head so they would stay there. She then shoveled her head and gave her attention to Totempaw expectantly.

  • That was true as well, nobody was perfect, Totempaw wasn't as optimistic or as confident as the others, what was wrong with that? The tomcat relaxed his shoulders and nodded, just a little bit surprised that she was letting him ask the question, but he had been preparing for it, so that was good. He pushed forward some small white flowers with a large yellow center, and questioned to the crowd loudly so that his voice projected, "Soooo, this is um .. well, can anyone tell me what this is? It normally is used as um, a strengthening herb for like, traveling cats."

" Ummm, Miss Saffronspice? Isn't Aloe Vera toxic to felines?" Zacharie asked at her reply.
