There's a place, not far from civilization, known as the Valley. It borders the ocean on one end, feeding from a creek that comes from the top of the mountains. That river carved a huge channel, where wildlife roam. Caribou in great numbers make annual migrations through the valley, and many a small prey animal make their homes in the Valley itself, and the forests surrounding it. With wolf territory recently pushed upon, some of the surviving wolves have made their way into the Valley to start again, most without packs to back them up, and hunting Caribou alone is a very dangerous prospect. But the Valley, for now, remains pristine.

The white wolf looked down onto hundreds of caribou, his mouth salivating with the thought of fresh meat. He'd gone for days without food, and needed to eat badly. The human scraps weren't nutritious at all, and had actually made him sick. He needed this hunt. It was such a shame his fur was such an obvious giveaway, but he had learned very early on in his life how to deal with it.
He made his way across the top of the Valley's plateau walls, and pushed a big rock down, sprinting as quickly as he could towards a bush further up the valley. As the large rock landed and spooekd the Caribou, he dropped a good thirty feet, landing deep in tall grasses, where his fur wouldn't be a dead giveaway. He waited for them to calm down, and slowly stalked his prey, remaining downwind, though in territory like this, wind liked to bounce around, so who knew what would happen?
He mananged to close in on a small group, looked like one of them had a limp. Before he could get close enough for a simple pounce, he saw one, then three, perk up. Tsk. Too loud. He sprinted forward, knowing his fur would be seen if it was looked for. Causing a stampede in the process, he ran after his target, a doe with a pronounced, yet mild limp in her rear right leg. It wasn't like she could dodge or anything, now in a thinning point in the valley.
(Feel free to do whatever pleases you, I'm always open to a twist! I'm mostly looking for a small pack for a very family-like, intimate feel. And I'm always looking to improve my writing, so feel free to (nicely) criticize!)
