New York City. The city where dreams come true. At least, that's how it is for Isabella Queens, small town girl who came to the big city. She's attending college there for music, just like she'd always dreamed. She was living large in England until her mum died and her father moved to Wisconsin to take a job at a little firm in a tiny town that isn't marked on some maps. She soon realizes that NYC isn't all it's cracked up to be. She gets a job at a cafe called Beans, a hole in the wall. She keeps up with her studies fairly well. One day, at work while she's closing up shop, a guy comes to the cafe, begging her to make him just one cup of coffee. Being the sweet girl she is, Isabella happily obliges, letting him in. What happens when a storm begins to brew, and they are stuck in the coffee shop for the night? Will romance bud?

OOC: I'll start then!
IC: I shivered at the cold crisp winter air, slipping off my white apron and hanging it on the hook. I worked at Beans, a cafe coffee shop that had a small bookstore in it. A hole in the wall that had mostly old people in it, sometimes a hideout for star crossed lovers. I turned off the machines, the hum of the fridge and freezer the only sounds besides the soft thump of my black guts on the floor. I ran a hand through my soft chocolate curls, biting my lop as I looked around. I grabbed my thick black button up coat, a longer coat with a tie at the waist. My jeans were tucked into my boots, my dark maroon sweater hidden under the jacket. I secured a maroon beanie to my head, slipping on a dark grey scarf and black gloves. I took my key and my bag, turning off the lights and stepping into the night air. Snowflakes that were flurrying around the air got caught in my hair and eyelashes. I squinted my eyes, closing the door and turning to lock the door. It was late, probably eleven thirty or so. I heard some footsteps and squeaked, jumping as I saw a shadow. I turned around, to find a tall boy, probably in his late teens or early twenties, looking down at me. I was at least four or five inches shorter than him, and my eyes showed my fear. "He-Hello..." I spoke in my soft, shaky British voice.[/fancypost]
-
Jack looked down at the shorter girl, his breath forming clouds in the cold air. He'd walked quickly here, knowing it was close to closing time, obviously closer than he had previously thought. He was tucked inside a warm looking coat, also wearing gloves on his hands but his face was open to the full force of the elements which had left his nose red and his cheeks pink, highlighted by his high cheek bones. "Err, hi" He replied with a quick grin. "look, i know it's practically closing time but would you mind opening up for just one cup of coffee?" He asked pleadingly with big brown eyes. "Please" He put his hands together, almost begging her. He looked imploringly at her, he needed something to warm him up and any other coffee shops were either quite a bit away or had terrible coffee. His black hair was ruffled from the freezing wind, small, white snowflakes contrasting against his dark hair and tanned skin. The snow seemed unnatural for him, it looked like he should be in the sun, sitting on a beach somewhere or in a pool.

IC: I bit my lip, sighing with relief as he asked me for coffee. His puppy dog eyes couldn't let me say no, so I sighed. "Alright." I said softly, unlocking the door. I turned on the lights, closing the door after the tanned guy stepped in. "What would you like?" I asked, stripping off my scarf, gloves, and coat. I pulled up the sleeves of my sweater and slipped on my apron. I turned on the machine, deciding to make myself some as well. I turned on the soft playing radio also, music soothing my thoughts and frazzled nerves. Soon an interruption to the music played. "Breaking news. A storm is flurrying through New York City tonight, and it has been determined unsafe to be outside. Please stay where you are until the storm blows over." I groaned, rolling my eyes. "Well, I guess we'll be here for a while. I'm Isabella Queens, and who are you?" I asked as I made myself a cup of coffee.[/fancypost]
-
He walked in, unbuttoning his coat and sitting down, watching her. "Black, two sugars please" he replied with a small smile at her. His smile faded slightly as the news drifted over to him. He sighed and ran his hand through his now wet hair, getting rid of any and all snowflakes. "I guess so" he agreed, shrugging off his coat, revealing his ripped jeans and sweater that suggested he might be hiding a six pack. "Well it's nice to meet you Isabella Queens, I'm Jack Daniels" he replied, well aware his name was also a drink, he was used to be asked about it and teased but Jack could laugh at himself so he normally just chuckled it off, their comments didnt really hurt, he found his name being that a little weird too but also cool. It made him sound famous and he sort of liked that but he also liked being a normal guy into sports and stuff.

IC: I nodded, making his cup. "Anything to eat?" I questioned, making my own cup. I took it with lots of cream and sugar. I probably took more cream than coffee, but oh well. I grabbed myself a muffin and brought over his coffee, grinning. "Jack Daniels, huh?" I asked, going back for my coffee and setting it in friend of the seat across from his. "I think I have a shirt with your name on it from summer..." I said, rolling my eyes with a grin. I looked over at him. "Why'd your parents name you that?"[/fancypost]
-
He shook his head, he wasn't particularly hungry. He took his coffee with a smile and a nod, taking a sip as he listened to her. "Yeah I'm famous" he joked, tilting his head to one side. "I'm not too sure to be honest, my parents aren't always the most normal of people but oh well, I think Jack suits me and not many people usually bother about my last name" he admitted with a small shrug of shoulders. His nose and cheeks were starting to return to their normal colour. " they might've named me that as a joke I suppose" he contemplated aloud. He took another sip of the steaming coffee, burning his tongue and making it go numb(that rhymed ;D) but he didn't mind. He wasn't a fan of being cooped up but he supposed if he had to stay anywhere then surely a place with food and drink and a cute girl wasn't bad.

IC: I laughed, grinning. "Nice." I said. I hated my laugh, but everyone else loved it. My eyes closed and my head tilted back, and my laugh was light and airy. I sipped my coffee, sitting down after slipping out of my apron. "I love the coffee here." I said softly, a bit glad he had come. At least I wasn't caught in the storm in my car, and better yet I was with food, coffee, and a fairly cute boy. "You don't look like you're from around here..." I said softly, taking in his tan skin and high cheekbones. He definitely looked more of a summer person.[/fancypost]
-
He took another sip and nodded in agreement. " best coffee around" he told her with a small smile. At her next question he looked at her for a moment before nodding again. "You're right, I'm from California, what about you though? You're not even American are you?" He paused. " If I had to guess I'd say you're from England, what part? I have no idea" he ventured. He often met many foreigners and travellers. some who'd come from the state next door and others who had travelled all the way from the other side of the Earth. New York was filled with a wild variety of people and he loved it, it showed everyone could live together and still be a thriving, bustling city.

IC: I smiled. "California. Never been." I commented, sipping my coffee. I bit into my muffin and swallowed before answering his question about my nationality. "I'm originally from Doncaster, England, but I moved to Wisconsin at the age of thirteen. Moved here last year." I said. I had moved here as soon as I turned eighteen, hating my small town life. I was now in my second year of college, and I was loving studying music. "So what brings you to New York?" I asked curiously, my head tilting to the right.[/fancypost]
-
"You should go" he told her "it's a nice place" he listened intently as he continued to slowly drink his coffee, letting it warm up his no long glove clad hands. His face had returned to its normal colour by now and he smiled with it at her, he seemed to smile a lot. "What's to drive me away? I came here about a year ago too although I already knew the city quite well because I have family living up here that I used to visit a few times each year. I guess I'm here now though is to make my way in the world and be independent and all that stuff" he murmured. "New York is lovely although a bit loud sometimes huh" he spoke softly, that comment was directed to no one in particular. "Why'd you move away from England" he asked curiously with a small, intrigued frown on his handsome face. He'd never been to England, he'd heard it was cold so he was unlikely to go but he also heard it was a nice place too.

IC: I bit my lip, laughing. "Yeah, it is pretty loud." I said happily, sipping my coffee. I had just swallowed when he asked me why we had moved, and I nearly choked. I looked down, my cheeks turning pink. "Oh, um. Well, my dad hand to take a job out here and the only thing really keeping him in England was my mums treatment..." I said softly, shrugging. I ran a hand through my hair, sighing. "Enough sad talk. How come I haven't seen you before? I've worked here most of the time I've been here... I got the job a few weeks after I arrived." I said curiously.[/fancypost]
-
His face turned apologetic when the conversation took a turn for a worse. He didnt reply to her sad explanation, it was easy to tell what had happened from that explanation although she hadn't said exactly. He didn't want to make things worse so he went with the change of the subject. "I don't know, it's weird huh, maybe I come in when it's not your shift? Or you might've not noticed me but I haven't see you either" he admitted. He'd been served by many different people, some women, others men but none of them had been her, he didn't recall ever seeing her serve someone else whilst he was there either which was strange.

IC: I shrugged. "Yeah, well. I normally work at night anyways, so you probably come in on the mornings." I said, shrugging. Not many people came at night, except during mid terms to stay awake. I finished off my muffin, sipping my coffee.[/fancypost]
-
"That explains it" he murmured. He studied her quickly, she was cute, not as tall as some girls he normally dated, she seemed sweet and kind enough. He bet she probably got hit on a lot in a place like this, well maybe bit since she worked at night but if she had worked earlier on then maybe. "So how old are you?" He asked in curiousity. She looked around his age but you could never be too sure, she could be twenty four max, no way she was older than that, she didn't look as old as twenty four though. Jack, himself, was eighteen, almost nineteen. His birthday was the eighteen of January so not that far off now.

IC: I smiled. He was tall, but that was alright. Most people were. Anyone shorter than me was either a midget or younger than me, so I was used to it. It was better in the summer, when I could wear heels. He was cute, and a bit strange, but aren't we all? I nodded in response to his question. "I'm newly nineteen, what about you?" I asked softly. I knew I didn't look as old as I was, but whatever. He looked as old as twenty two, as young as eighteen. A pretty small window.[/fancypost]
