Berric ignored her comment about the Lannisters. "My dear, it is impossible to keep the babe a secret in a village like the one around Winterfell."

Eve became silent, her eyes closed, "It isn't impossible if even the marriage was secret." She whispered after several moments, "No one knows of the marriage... the mother disappeared almost two years ago, the guard marrying her and living just outside of the castle. No one ever passes by their home, no one went to visit. I was the one who delivered the babe as the guard didn't want to wake anyone he couldn't trust. I was awake... Please. It's all a secret. No one know of any of it."
-
Berric stared at her for a moment, then said, "Tom. Take Thoros at dawn and head for Winterfell. Find the cottage just outside the castle. See that the mother and babe are well tended to." Tom nodded. "Yes, milord."
-
"Thank you." Eve whispered, her blue eyes grateful as she stared at the man. She held Edwin's hand tightly and shivered, pulling her cloak closer. -
Edwin held her close, glaring at the brigands. Eventually, everyone retired for the night. The fires were doused and guards were posted around the camp. Edwin drifted off to sleep, holdings his sister tightly, as if to protect her from any harm.
-
Eve slept the whole night, buried into Edwin's side as they remained in their seated position. She woke up the next morning and swallowed hard, breathing in deeply. She felt much better after the rest; a faint healthy glow was back in her face and she felt as though she was able to run around for several minuets. -
The brigands were awake as well. It appeared that Tom O'Sevens and Thoros had already left, but everyone else was around the camp, eating a breakfast of salted beef and bread or keeping watch for any intruders. Edwin was still asleep beneath her, breathing gently on her neck.
-
Eve smiled faintly at Edwin's breathing on her neck and rested her head against his own for a moment, studying the camp with slightly healthier blue eyes. -
Anguy walked past and nudged them with his boot. "Get up, you two," he said softly. "Almost time to get moving."
-
Eve lifted her head and moved to look at her older brother, gently kissing his forehead, "Edwin, wake up." She whispered, shaking him gently, "We need to go... They're moving." She whispered. -
Edwin groaned and opened his eyes. "What...?" he mumbled a bit incoherently. He sat up. "Well, I suppose we'd best hurry before they carry us off."
-
Eve nodded faintly and stood up, the hood still off as she held the cloak close, "How did you sleep, Edwin?" She asked, staring into her brother's eyes.
-
"Fairly well," he said, smiling at her gently. He took her hand. "Let's get going."
-
Eve nodded and intertwined their fingers, swallowing as she looked around, "It's cold." She said softly, "I hate mornings..."
-
"Be strong," Edwin said. "If Robb doesn't ransom us, we'll have to run."
-
"They'll shoot us down before we can get any farther than from you to the trees." Eve said softly, shaking her head. -
"I wasn't talking about escaping," he said out loud, in case someone else could hear them. "Thgat would be suicide. I meant to follow them."
-
Eve bit her lip but said nothing else, knowing that Edwin was doing that to keep them safe. -
The group began trudging through the woods, with Edwin and Eve in the center. After a few minutes, they emerged from the woods and headed down a large, well populated road. "Don't say anything," Anguy warned them. "No one will help you."
-
Eve was stumbling from time to time as they walked, catching Edwin's hand for support. A small nod answered Anguy's words before she became motionless other than her walking.
