  • Chapter 15 - A Case Of Lock-down

The phone that belonged to Reinetier rung almost endlessly, even when it stopped. It would continue just a second after. Getting annoyed with the phone, she picked it up, "Hello?"

"Reinetier! I-I." It was Italy and he sounded so shaken up that it was hard to make out what he was saying at all.

"Italy? Calm down. What's wrong?" Reinetier questioned worried that he was in serious trouble.

"I-I decided to go visit Germany again to see if something was different, I got through this time. He didn't answer his door and..." There was a bunch of yelling over the phone, not from Italy, it was cutting him off.

"Italy? Italy!?" Reinetier yelled through the phone scared now that she couldn't hear him.

"It's so chaotic at the borders... I can't get out and there is many others that want to get out as well." Italy finally said, he still seemed shaken up by it all.

"Hang in there Italy. I will get you out!" Reinwtier told him.

"Oh, okay! They have fences up and everything..." Italy was explaining it as much as he possibly could.

"Alright. I'm on my way!!" Reinetier finished before hanging up. She armed herself just in case and ran to Germany. She had gotten to the borders to see huge fences, tons of people were trying to break the fences and most of those who did that were shot.

Reinetier's eyes widened at the scene. It scared her a bit because reminded her of World War II. Italy had made it to the front, but didn't take the risk of it all. He spotted Reinetier and had to keep himself from the fences.

She spotted him almost right away and ran towards the fence. Reinetier wasn't afraid, and she would fight to save Italy. The guards aimed at Reinetier, ready to shoot if she continued on closer. She noticed them take aim, and knowing German soldiers, she took out her weapons to defend herself.

"Schritt vom Zaun zurück." One of the German soldiers stated, pointing his gun towards back where she had came from as if saying to go back.

"Nein, ich gehe nicht ohne meinen Freund!" Reinetier responded to the solider understanding what he had said, but she wasn't going to leave without Italy. She stood with a serious and determined look on her face. None of them put their guns down, they still were pointed at her threateningly.

Reinetier let a small grin play across her face and she ran as fast as could to the fence. She wasn't as fast as Italy, but she was faster than most countries. Several amateur soldiers shot and of course missed, the more experienced waited.

Once she was at the fence, she tried to quickly climb it. This was the only time she was glad she had Germany train her. The experienced then shot at Reinetier, hoping to hit her.

Reinetier winced as the bullet hit her in the same spot where had been scarred. The others followed with the shooting. She fell off the fence after being shoot so many times from being unable to move from the pain. Italy saw her on the ground, letting out a cry for her.

Reinetier cringed at the pain, but she slowly pulled herself back up from the ground. She didn't want to harm these soldiers. They were still ready to shot her again though, all lined up behind the fence. She ran at the fence again getting ready to leap, so she wouldn't have to climb as much.

"Reinetier! Don't!" Italy cried out from the crowd, not wanting her to get shot at anymore than she had already. Reinetier had been distracted by Italy's cries even though she had only a little ways to go before she would have been over the fence. The soldiers gave up, so it seemed, they ended up just pointing at the others.

Reinetier pulled herself up and over the fence. Italy was scared that the guards were going to shot at Reinetier again. She jumped down hitting the ground and winced at the pain causing her to stumble a bit.

Italy went over to her and guided her quickly away from the fence. "It's best to not stay near the borders, I heard there was more people coming, which mean more people are going to die." He stated.

Reinetier chuckled a bit at her own pain, "I am just too stubborn to give up." Italy let out a shaky sigh. "I just figured out the reason that the borders are like that... They said it is the disease..."

    "What about it?" she questioned.

"It's taken a very good percentage of Germany's population... I also, haven't see him yet." Italy explained.

    "You should have told me."

"I couldn't! I was just so scared of being stuck here, you were already on the way before I could tell you."

Reinetier sighed, "Don't worry. It doesn't hurt so don't feel bad." Italy let out a sigh. "Okay."

"I think you are stronger than me now though Italy," Reinetier told him.

"What do you mean?" Italy asked, confusion on his face quite clearly interpreted.

Reinetier winced as the bullet hit her in the same spot where she had been scarred.

"You are stronger than me both mentally and physically now," she explained. Italy looked at her, not really believing that. "How?"

"Just think about it..." she sighed, "You have probably grown more than any other nation." Italy thought to himself for a second.

    "I don't feel any different."

    "And yet you are..."

"Anyway... We should figure out what is going on with Germany..." Italy changed the topic and led the way, hoping that they could do something about what was going on in Germany. As it was total chaos.
