    "We will have ta find out when we get there." Applejack answered bluntly. On the subject of a spa day, she blatantly began noticing just how dirty she was. Her orange hooves were caked with a light brown crust from walking through the muddy fields. Her mane was specked with dirt and hay as she ran a hoof through it, which did not help much, replacing the hay with crusty mud.

    Rainbow Dash wasn't faring much better, due to her less-than-satisfactory landing job from before. The entirety of her body was scuffed and darkened from the dirt thrown up when she hit the ground, and what wasn't covered in grime was stained by grass. Adding insult to injury was the bark stuck in her mane from the trees she'd hit. Oddly, she hadn't noticed and was only complaining about her current inability to fly.


    When they reached the spa, Rainbow Dash pushed the door open, causing a nearby bell to ring. Aloe and Lotus were obviously anticipating the visit, as they both stood up from behind the reception counter, offering a simultaneous "Velcome!"

    Applejack hesitantly followed Dash into the building, looking around in awe. She hadn't been to the spa since the girls' last visit together. She definitely needed it now that she had been working on the farm all day.

    "So vat can ve do for you two today?" Lotus asked, reaching up to straighten the band over her pink mane. "Well, we have some tickets for a series of spa treatments," Rainbow Dash replied, visibly more comfortable about the whole spa concept. "No point in letting 'em go to waste, after all." "Odd... Zese are ze tickets miss Fluttershy reqvested... Somezing about a special occasion. Had zem cancelled a few hours ago..." "WELLSOMUCHFORTHATGUESSWEGOTTA-" "...But of course, as you said, zere is no point in letting zese go to vaste. Zey vere given, and zey are not expired yet. Zus, ze treatment is still available." "Well... Good. That's good."

    Applejack had a hard time understanding Lotus, making her feel uncomfortable about replying if she asked a question. The only thing running through her head was; Don't ask a question. Don't ask a question. Of course, having these thoughts would definitely cause Lotus to ask a question.

    "So do eizer of you have preferences as per your treatments? Or vould you just like vat comes viss ze tickets?" "I'll just do the ticket stuff; I'm not fluent in spa-ese." "Vell noted. And you, miss Applejack?"

    "Yes?" Applejack answered questionably. The farm mare glanced at Dash, a look of helplessness flushing out her previous emotion. She returned her gaze to the spa owners.


    "Can ya repeat the question?" She finally asked.

    "Are zere any details ve should know, maybe parts of ze treatment we should alter, before ve begin?" Lotus spoke slowly this time, as if she was speaking to some foreign tourist. Which wasn't that far from the truth.

    "What ever works the best." Applejack answered. This time, the farm mare understood every word. Applejack wasn't very much the person to tweak that which was given to her.

    "Zen it's settled!" Lotus announced, turning to lead the way through a side door. "If you vould follow me, ve can get ze treatments started."


    "Now, the tickets detail a class two series," Aloe explained, falling in line beside her presumed sister (At least, ponies thought they were sisters, but their accents didn't match). "Mudbath, massage, hooficure and an extended sauna session." "Mud bath? That sounds kinda your style," Rainbow Dash commented, giving Applejack a nudge.

    "What are ya implyin'?" Applejack remarked, narrowing her eyes at the cyan Pegasus. She had never experienced a mud bath, so she had no clue what it actually meant. 'Couldn't Ah just get mud from the fields and use that? Why do Ah have to pay so much for a bath of mud?" She had asked herself upon her last visit to the spa. The spa owners had told her how unsanitary that would be. Of course, Applejack couldn't quite understand what they were saying, so she nodded in agreement to whatever they said.

    "Well, y'know," Rainbow Dash fumbled for a good response to the question. "...Mud. You do a lotta mud stuff. With mud." Let the record thereby show that Rainbow Dash was never meant to be a poet.


    The next room was the largest in the building, as it consisted of several 'stations'. On one side of the room was a large depression in the tile floor, not much different from what a public swimming pool would look like empty. In the center of the room was a multitude of massage benches, and on the other side a duo of wooden jacuzzis, one of which held a certain white unicorn. Over her eyes were two slices of cucumber, preventing her from seeing the quad of ponies who just walked in.

    Applejack did not noticed Rarity at first; she was too busy starring into the mud filled hole in the floor. She was tempted to touch it, but decided to leave it alone for now. She trotted back toward the two spa owners, ready to do whatever they were going to do.

    "That's... A lot of mud," Rainbow Dash commented upon sight of the pool. "Ze mud bass is vun of ze most popular sreatments offers here. Exsremely effecsive for openink vun's pores, helping zem relax." "Right... So what, do I just... step in, or..?" "Yes."

    Applejack couldn't hide her confusion any longer. "Ah'm sorry, Ah didn't quite understand that." She admitted, looking to Aloe for guidance.

    It took a moment, but the spa pony then realized that her sister's accent was a bit difficult for those unaccustomed to understand. "Well, the mud bath is one of the treatments most ponies go for. It helps relax, opens your pores... It also does wonders for your pelt!" "Vat? I juss said-" Lotus tried to interrupt, but was cut off by a look from Aloe that said 'please just shut up'. "Oh. Right."

    Applejack nodded in understanding, prodding the mud bath with a hoof. This mud felt different compared to that of the fields. Something about it felt smoother and less clumped. "Where do y'all get your mud?" Applejack felt obliged to ask this question.

    "Good question! The mud we use is actually made from a combination of various clays and other materials found in foreign soils." Aloe turned to a map on the wall, where several regions were highlighted orange. "Seems like a lot of effort for... Well, mud." "Well, you can't just go out, wet some dirt and throw it on your fur. Some materials can actually be harmful to you. If somepony could jump in a mud hole and get the same thing, we wouldn't bother offering the service."

    "Ah've jumped in plenty of mud holes and my coat is just fine." Applejack objected, demonstrating her well-tamed coat. The only thing that seemed wrong was the clumps of dirt dotting her fur and twigs sticking out here and there.
