  • Morningdestroyer ➨ Brown and white tabby ➨ Lime eyes ➨ She-cat ➨ Shadowclan

Morningdestroyer threaded her way through the dens of camp, letting her scent rest on everything. She padded out of the camp into the deep pine marsh. All of the mud was replaced by snow, and ice lay in several patches on the ground, so she made sure to slide carefully over it and not unsheathe her claws.

Of course, the brown and white tabby reviewed the events of the past few sunrises, and the anticipating gathering. Her lime eyes surveyed the landscape, searching out any suspicious hills of snow that weren't there in Leaf-fall and Greenleaf.
She began to scoop up the snow, to build a heap around the roots of a tree that smelled of fox, but it was stale. Jabberjaw didn't ask her to, but the warrior did it anyway, covering the scent to prevent any foxes following it.

  • Pansystripe happened to be fumbling about in a tree nearby, snapping branches and showering the snow laden ground below in ever-green needles. It didn't take much to snatch her attention, and the scent of a clan-mate did just that. The golden tabby paused and looked over the side of the trunk as she clung to it, her eyes wide and searching.

"Whatcha doing?" curiosity bubbled within her, seeing as the other she-cat was digging at the snow around one of the neighboring trees. The warrior eased herself down behind her and approached with a heavy step, her tail furiously lashing at either side of her haunches. She could smell the fox, but it didn't bother her much. The clan had members that were foxes after all, and though this particular scent held no sign of being one of these members, she was sure the canine's former presence wasn't that big of a deal.

Morningdestroyer patted the snow, packing it around the roots. Then she paused at Pansystripe's voice. "Well..." The tabby turned around. "I'm trying to hide the scent of this old fox den with snow."

  • "Ohhh," she voice concluded with a small giggle. She looked at the packed snow, indented with paw-prints, and stained brown where the earth had been upturned with the white powder. A fox den- no wonder she had been sealing its entrance. Pansystripe understood they were to share the land with none and keep intruders out who didn't mean business with the clan, even if personally, she welcomed anyone who didn't oppose an immediate threat.

"I'll help, if you would like?" she was merely being polite by asking, a wide grin stretching her maw. And inwardly laughing to herself, she recalled how lacking she was in her own duties as a warrior.

Morningdestroyer shook her head. "Not with this one," She mewed, adding a pawful of snow, "But if you could help seal dens that smell of badger, fox, or dog, it would be great." The tabby continued to work, until she had made a solid ring of snow around the base of the tree. She definitely didn't want to meet any unwelcome animals or cats, especially because it was leaf-bare-- The rogues could hunt on the other clan's territories, for all she cared.

Actually, only the clans whose territories were being hunted on by any intruders would care.

  • She paused, before nodding."I'll see about it," her voice dropped as she spoke and she turned the other way to find dens to seal up. There was a reason she was lacking with her duties- work was boring! And now she some-what regretted lending her help to the she-cat.

Half-heatedly, she searched the bases of trees, under rocks, and other places animals might dig up their burrows, her paws trailing the snow as she walked.

Morningdestroyer began to search as well, leaving pawprints in the snow. She opened her mouth to the air, taking in the scent. Then she darted across the path, calling, "I found one!" It was a den, one that had a mixed scent of fox and badger, but it was stale. She scented the entrance again, and slipped into the darkness that was broken by the light shining through the entrance.

  • Pansystripe veered from her own direction to race after the other warrior, nearing the den that was indicated. She drew to a halt at its entrance and peered into the hole just as Morningdestroyer slipped through a curtain of darkness."Be careful," she called after her, having no intentions of entering the burrow herself.

Morningdestroyer turned around to call, "Don't worry!"
She began to investigate the den, leaving her scent here and there. There was no nest, meaning that whatever inhabitants were there before did not stay long, possibly because they were in a hurry or that cats chased them out.

"There is no one down here, just a few lonely scraps of moss!" She called again. Then the tabby padded around the sides, checking the size of the den. Soon she found a small crack letting a meanger amount of light through the roots of the tree- it was too small for even a mouse to fit through. "And it's smaller than the nursery!"

  • "Ohh," she let her voice travel down the den, still not budging from the entrance."Should we still close it up?" She took a step forward, only to retreat back the same distance as loose soil tumbled down into the small cavern beneath.
