  • "My father is a crazy person." I snorted "People have been burned alive for less…" I thought, realizing how much truth this statement held. "You talk an awful lot…" I commented, unfazed by her strange stories."I'm afraid my life story isn't quite as interesting and you seem to know it already… I'm betrothed to a princess, heir to the throne- I'm afraid there is not much more to it." I squinted, trying to get a better view of her through the cell bars. "So how exactly are you planning to escape?" I was quite amused by the thought, castle Areidon was practically a fortress. A prisoner hadn't escaped in years!

[I feel lame in comparison to your big post XD but I think I fell asleep a few times while writing this]

  • Hello, sorry for not being on last night. I was watching LOTR. ☺
Anwen smiled to herself when she saw Hachiro blush. He liked the princess; she could tell. Her smile faded when she thought about her position. Her father wanted her to follow her heart and wanted her marry anyone she wanted… as long as he was rich and powerful. She unpacked the princess’ clothes, carefully setting them out. Anwen noticed a slight tear in the violet and blue dress. “My lady, you must have missed this one,” she said. “I’ll go give it to the tailor.” She carefully folded up the silk dress and started down the hallway after the tailor. “Sir!” Anwen called. “My mistress has another to give to you.” She stopped when she saw him turn around. My God, isn’t he handsome? He looked to be only slightly shorter than her, maybe half an inch. "Here," she held out the dress, smiling at the small girl beside the tailor.

I smiled at his words. Fire could be easy to escape, with a simple barrier parting you from the flames, water discreetly splashed on you and/or the stones around you, and some nimble fingers, but at least it was more fun. "Oh, good, I get to have some fun when I die." I smirked at his statement and rubbed my fingers together briskly, going back to my knapsack and getting out the flute. Walking back to the door, I leaned on it and started wiping it down. "I do," I agreed amiably, blowing an experimental note. "So why don't you take a turn?" Everyone knows that stuff--but who are you? The man behind the throne. Couldn't you marry whomever you want, instead of this betrothal? No sweetheart behind closed doors?" I barely glanced at him as I continued to clean it out. Once it was cleaned to my satisfaction, I slipped it in my breastband and watched him out of the corner of my eye.

I turned around at the ladies words. I wasn't expecting that, but then, she had only just unpacked. I took the silken gown from her hands carefully, before noticing her face. She certainly was pretty. Only just slightly taller than me, but very pretty, with her hair braided over her shoulder and her eyes wide and pretty. "I'll have it back before supper, my lady," I promised quickly. I bowed slightly, as she was nobility and therefore a higher rank then I, though my cheeks were slightly red, and hurried down the hall again with Maggie before the little girl could speak. She managed an excited wave at the woman as we left, though.

  • Anwen waved back at the little girl before she started to head back to the princess's room. She stopped when she heard some servants talking. "Did you hear about the ball the king is planning to have?" one of them asked. "The king says he's doing it so that Princess Lovette and Prince William can get better aquatinted."
"It's just more work for us," the other servant complained. "It seems that we never get any rest. When is it?”
    “Tomorrow, I think.”
Anwen smiled and hurried into the room. “My lady, there is to be a ball tomorrow.” She was excited. She always loved balls and all of the glitter and glamor. Anwen wondered how different they were from the ones at her father's house.

  • I was just finishing up the unpacking when Anwen burst back into the room. “My lady, there is to be a ball tomorrow.” She said to me in an excited tone. I put up a smile and made an effort to be excited as well, when really I was screaming inside my head. I truly hated balls, and it wasn't just because I was a horrid dancer. One was no different than the other, same half-hearted conversations, same dreary noblemen… This would be worse as I was expected to actually entertain the prince when I knew nothing about the man. "That's great Anwen…" I responded, smiling weakly "What are you going to wear? If you didn't bring anything you can wear one of mine, I don't mind. You should at least try to have some fun even if I'm not going to." I said, turning my head to look out the window. The castle grounds certainly were lovely, vegetation and beautiful flowers dotted the landscape, giving the effect that it was a beautiful painting. "Do you think I could go out Anwen?" I asked her with a slightly brighter tone. I was itching to go riding, even if my father hated it when I did.

"I'm afraid my answer is join to have to be 'no' to both. This marriage has been planned since before my birth, and if I try to weasel out of it my mother would have my head." I chuckled under my breath "My life plan? Once I have been married I shall assume throne as well. I wish to reunite both the East and the West instead of waging a war. It won't be good for either kingdom and I doubt that anyone truly wants a war. My father has made a mess of Areidon and I wish to be the one who fixes it all. He has used his charisma to distort the minds of the people. The policies and penalties are far to harsh, people outside of the castle live in fear of making a mistake! My plan is to-" I paused my passionate speech, wondering if Kaylyn was even paying attention. "Never mind, I do not wish to bore you my lady." I said, coaxing the flame of my dying candle. "Can I get you something? Water, food- anything at all. It must be rather dreary staying down here stuck in the dark." My candle gave one last puff of breath before disappearing into the air. The only sign that it had ever been lit was the scent of smoke which still lingered in the darkness. I have to admit, I was a bit afraid of being down here with all of the criminals while it was pitch black; but I doubt that Kaylyn would hurt me. She seemed a bit too smart for that...

  • Anwen smiled at the princess' face. I don't think she's very excited for it, she thought. "I can't see why not," she replied. "In fact, it would be a good idea to go out. At my father's house, I use to ride through the forest with my brothers. My mother feared I would become a wild, untamable creature. I have a mare in the stable named Seren. I'm sure you can go borrow one, that is, if you want to go riding." When she talked about riding, the princess' face brightened. "I do have something to wear; thank you for asking. And you never know. You might have fun at the ball."

I nodded thoughtfully, gnawing slightly on the end of my braid. His plans made sense, smart, sensible, considerate. He would make a good king. Soft-hearted, but he'd grow out of it, I suppose. When he stopped speaking, I released my braid, and let it swing free. "I'm no lady," I said, sounding cross and not even trying to hide it. "I'ma village girl born and bred. Though my first pa was a traveler, so I suppose I got his blood in me." I shrugged. "'Sides, you weren't boring me, you got sound plans. Grow a bit of a spine and maybe you'll even live to see it happen." At his request, I said, "I've got my knapsack, thats all I need. And besides, I've had worse livings. I was flogged countless times--still got the scars to prove it--at my last one, and don't get me started on the company I kept. Here I've got a kings bed--" here my tone turned mocking, "--and a prince at my door. What more could a girl ask for?"

  • ~Hachiro's POV~

I was waiting outside Princess Lovette's room when I overheard Anwen say a ball was coming up. "A ball?" I said to myself. I glanced down at my clothes, they seemed alright, Princess Lovette wouldn't want me to look a mess. I fixed my small ponytail at the back of my head as it was about to untangle, "I must wear my best suit!" I thought aloud. I cleaned off the dust on my suit and smiled to myself, Maybe then, would the Princess...?

    ~Shika's POV~

One of my servants said that I was supposed to visit a castle in the West. Well, it could be exciting. "Alright," I nodded. I walked over to the carriage and stepped inside, the horses started galloping and it was a bumpy ride. "Ah, what could it be this time? Is it about the war...?" I muttered to myself. Surely they aren't going to discuss about this stupid war, right? After a while, the carriage stopped and I peeked outside, it was one strange castle.
