[color=white]Riza could hear a voice, someone talking to her, but she couldn't make out who it was. Her mind was swimming with thoughts; Where am I? What happened? Who's there? What's going on?
After a moment her eyes focused enough for her to recognize Roy, clutching her to him like he was afraid she'd slip away at a moment's notice. His mouth was moving, forming words, words that she could not understand. The look in his eyes was terrible, she had never seen anyone so sad, so desperate. No, that was a lie. Ed. He looked like Ed when they had gone to see him in Resembool, just after the failed transmutation. Ed had given up on ever seeing his mother alive again, and Riza could tell that Roy was giving up on her.
No, she thought, I won't die. I can't die. For him, I can't die.
She struggled, trying to keep her eyes open and focussed, and tried to talk again. Slowly, her cracked voice was made audible, and she tried to form words. "Roy..." she whispered, and then stopped, the effort was wearing her out, and she couldn't afford to let that happen. She felt her eyes begin to droop again, and fought to keep them open, at least a crack, but her vision was become blurred again, and Roy slowly receded into a fuzzy outline.
Riza was scared, more scared than she'd ever been before, for herself, and for Roy. She didn't want to die, she couldn't die. She had made a promise to Roy, the most important promise she had ever made, she swore she'd protect him, help him make it to the top, and even shoot him if he lost sight of what was true in the world. She had never broken a promise before, and she sure as hell wasn't planning on breaking one now. She would stay alive, for him. For Roy, she could do anything. [/fancypost]
