Kittenpaw and Polopaw were silently sharing a mouse,Kittenpaw looked up and smiled "Hey Shadowpaw...you excited about your assessment?" Polopaw looked up and smiled, she was often silent unless her adopted sister wasnt talking.

"Careful Shadowpaw, arrogance has proven to be the downfall of more than one person in the past," remarked Cyanspectrum, whiskers twitching in amusement. During his own warrior assessment the Head Paladin hadn't been nearly as confident.

Kittenpaw meowed "Just thought you might be excited...If you keep thinking your better than every cat then you might just get ahead of yourself...and that would end well, would it?" The tiny caracal she meowed. She was about two paw length smaller than Polopaw, who was only a bit shorter than the average she-cat.

The two if them were to train and they hadn't because her roleplayer was off on her first date. But none of that matters now. Shadowpaw seemed completely different from when he was training him and his hawk alone, or so she believed. "Don't forget, Shadow, we both have to take this assessment." she reminded him before glancing to his hawk. She remembered the day the bird hatched on ViridianClan soil. All the felines wished to eagerly eat the morsel, but her darker brother had protected it well. Now it was even a vital part of being, him. Finding Shadowpaw without his hawk near was rather difficult. [/fancypost] |

Polopaw nodded, mouth full, she swallowed then mewed "He thinks he's better than everyone else."

The flame point winced, thinking that the tom was referring to the paralysis in his hindlegs. He remained silent, though hurt. Had it been about that? Part of him said no, but the rest of him was beginning to feel awkward with his disability.

Maypaw hadn't helped but hear the comment, striding upwards to take a seat beside Incy as she did so. Why was the apprentice acting so . . . rude? He hadn't been this way during his time in ViridianClan. The medicine cat apprentice wasn't one to put up with rudeness, as she usually fought back with pure politeness. If you don't give them the satisfaction, then it just slowly eats them away. Psychology, bro.

| [fancypost bgcolor= #555623; bordercolor=; background:; borderwidth=; height: 90px; width: 235px; border-radius: 20px; border: transparent; overflow: auto; opacity: 1.00] Ic: Flightpaw felt small under the shocked glances of some of her clan mates. She noticed Incendre and Mayflower, and she instantly felt guilty being so close to her kin. Why was he being so rude? Shadowpaw was her brother and the only blood the she-cat had, but why was he acting so harsh towards the medics?! Turning to her older brother, she noticed the apprentices Polopaw and Kittenpaw. Murmurs reached her now pricked ears and eyes made contact with hers as she heard their wishes of his failure. Folding her ears and hissing loud and with purpose, she made sure the two younger cats heard her. She wasn't one to start drama, let alone with fellow den mates, but she sure as StarClan wasn't about to let them say that and have it go unnoticed. She would defend her brother, like he had always done her. However that didn't mean that she didn't think he was in the wrong. Turning once more to ask the dark tom a question she noticed her mentor. Fur prickling, she stood a little more erect now. Her spine was stiff, and her legs were tense. She wanted to do good. "I won't let you down, Crowtalon". she verbally said, and secretly prayed. She wanted to show that Crowtalon was a great mentor, and she wanted to make him proud. She wanted to make all of the former ViridianClan proud. Flightpaw inhaled the air, and let the oxygen fill up in her lungs. She was ready. She will pass her assessment. And she wouldn't need her brother's help, not this time. Working up the courage she leaned closer to Shadowpaw and whispered in his ears. "Cool it, confidence is key, but too much is arrogance." She advised to him in a whisper before standing and looking to Cyanspectrum. Continuing to speak with such small distance between them, she whispered "I'm grown, Shadowpaw, I can take care of myself." In an attempted to sound calm and reassuring. However, due to her hushed tone, came more harsh than intended. Flightpaw padded forward, her tail low on the ground but not too low, she dipped her head to her Cyan, and then ran forward, leaving the group behind. Her last second before losing the visibility of the assembly, however, she couldn't help but glance to her mentor, and be filled with determination. She was going to begin the hunting part of the assessment quickly. The faster she was done with this, the faster she'd become a warrior! or maybe not? Perhaps there was second part to the assessment like in other clans and tribes. In some clans, Flightpaw has heard that along with a hunting test, there was to be a battle portion. The gray apprentice knew, she'd be ready for that if necessary, but at the moment all concentration was put to this one section. The she-cat had grown, from kit, to apprentice, and into a young she-cat, faster than imaginable. And now was her moment of truth. Here is where she'd put all her skills to the test, and soar high with the others. As her white paws rushed the ground below, she couldn't help but wonder who would follow her, who would examine her skills and scrutinize her every flaw. Who would study her crouches and survey her pounce. Feeling under pressure, the gray she-cat reminded herself of her abilities, and moved forth. Prepared to achieve her one true dream. KEEP CHASING THE SUN!!
| [fancypost bgcolor= #555623; bordercolor=; background:; borderwidth=; height: 90px; width: 235px; border-radius: 20px; border: transparent; overflow: auto; opacity: 1.00] Ic: Flightpaw's ears twitched when she heard the familiar sound of Shadowpaw's hawk. She had been meaning to help more with its training, but had never gotten a moment to. In the beginning Shadowpaw had stated that the hawk was theirs to share and train together, but as the bird quickly grew, she found that it only recognized Shadow as its true master. Flightpaw was okay with this, because after all, he'd been the one with the idea to raise it. Shaking her head, she scented the territory she was in. Snow covered the landscape and she was hid faintly. In the distance, trees were only slightly spotted, and this gave the light gray she-cat an idea. Remembering the pelt patterns of a snow leopard, and now looking at this tree, she realized that it wasn't the color white that hid pelts, but rather the dapple. The snow leopards dotted spots and the uncovered parts of the pine trees mesmerized animals, and hopefully this would be enough. Scenting the area, she made sure there was no prey near to hear the crunching of snow as she laid down and rolled in the ivory texture. Normally, this would've been a horrible idea, and it still may be, but she knew that with her pelt, the color needed to be hidden. Flakes of snow were sticking to her whiskers, and the ends of her tufts of fur, and she was only a bit cold. However now, her pelt seemed much more camouflaged in the still white blanket of snow ahead. Pushing on the she-cat only used the melting liquid as a reminder to hurry. Reaching the rim of the forest, she decided to scent for any possible trails. Thankfully, she found one. It was nothing more than a rabbit, but it'll have to do. Rabbits were one of the more harder preys to catch due to speed, and pelt color but she knew she couldn't pass up the opportunity. Scenting the air, and noticing she was downwind of the scent she lowered herself low to the ground. However not too low, that her belly was soaked before the hunt. It was at a nice and even level. Now, she had her stalk down, she just needed to make sure the little rabbit didn't see her until she was ready give it the final blow. Scanning the area, while still sniffing the trail, she was beginning to lose hope that she would be able to catch this prey. Then suddenly she heard snow falling from her 10 o' clock and flashed her head toward the source. StarClan must've been watching the patient apprentice because they had graced her with sight of the plump animal. The rabbit seemed to be attempting to eat some of the branches off of a bush, or perhaps that was from what Flightpaw had seen. Maybe she was eating something else? No matter, the small creature was about to become her own meal. Blinking her crystal colored eyes she turned direction toward the white hare and scented again. The air hadn't changed, thought her snowy pelt was beginning to melt. Worry entered her blood for a moment, before she began stepping forward, her already white paws easily disguised with the ground below. Flightpaw's real challenge here was to step quietly, at least enough so the lame creature didn't hear. Her advance turning successful, she couldn't help but grin, the ivory rabbit hadn't noticed her and was much more interested in its meal. It was standing on its hind legs pulling something from above, but when it sat down to nibble, it stomach seemed to extend much larger than normal. For a moment, the gray apprentice, couldn't help but imagine if the white hare was actually a female, but not an ordinary female. Perhaps a pregnant female, attempting to fatten herself for the harsh months. This got Flightpaw thinking, if her life was more valuable than that of a single mother rabbit. Compassion for the creature entered her body, but she managed to shake it off. In the mean time, while she was thinking of this animal's life, the wind direction changed. She was now upwind. The pure white rabbit looked in her direction, and Flightpaw froze. Realizing her mistake, she clenched her teeth and waited for it to look away. The now frightened rabbit turned its head for a split second, paranoia settling in, and this was the moment, Flightpaw charged forward. Kicking up snow behind her, she launched herself forward. Immediately the hare responded, and ran in the opposite direction to flee. Cursing herself, Flightpaw realized this would now turn into a loss if she didn't close the distance between them now. releasing her claws from their sheathe she used them to pull herself forward faster. Snow fell from her body, and the original gray color returned. Now, at this moment, Flightpaw was thankful that the creature was pregnant. Having to be more careful than usual, the animal was slower and seemed to think of her escape rather than just flee. There was an intelligence that couldn't be surveyed from the eyes of a predator. All of a sudden the animal turned left, and was confronted the icy roots of a tree. In panic, she leapt to the branch and jumped into the air. Unfortunately, she slipped and flailed in the air, and this was the one and only moment Flightpaw was given. She dodged the root and caught the rabbit on its plight down. Slamming the screaming hare to the ground, Flightpaw's conscience receded and she allowed pure instinct to take over. Lunging her neck forward she delivered the killing bite to the neck, and silence the mother, sentencing her kits (rabbits have kits too, don't look at me that way xD) to never breath their first breathe. Blood, soaked the white ground staining the picture of perfect white with the horrid view of fear and death. Licking her lips of the scarlet liquid, she lifted her head and sent a slightly pray of thanks and forgiveness to the departing soul of the animal. Life was drained from its beady black eyes and Flightpaw looked around. Lifting the plump and unknown mother, Flightpaw awkwardly carried her catch back to the group. By now, any cat that had been observing her would be rushing to return the group before her, eager to announce their findings. She only hoped that they were well enough to pass this portion. All of a sudden, Flightpaw couldn't help but hope for a battle portion just to redeem herself. upset at her own self, she bit down harder on the scruff of the dead prey. The only reason she had almost failed was because she noticed it was pregnant. If she notice afterward, she wouldn't have made the hunt so messy! Never did she even begin to imagine she'd feel guilty for a hunt, perhaps the pressure of passing was making her think things too much. Fur bristling with anticipation she walked back to the assembled cats, and prayed that she'd pass. [/fancypost] |
